++Hunting to survive: For the last four years she has supported her and her sister through hunting, fishing, and her sister gathering plants for salads and herbs for side dishes/spices. (see dislikes-senseless slaughter)

++Bow and Arrow: Weapon of choice, the bow and arrow. Artemia is extremely accurate with a bow and can shoot from trees, from moving objects, from moving objects at still and moving objects, and overall a precise shot. She will only improve more when her eyesight is enhanced by her mutation.

++Drakes: Artemia is one that loves animals of all kinds. At times when she is able to view the open skies for long periods of time, she can see Gliders, Fliers, and Goliaths floating and flying around. At times when she is in town, she can see the odd Digger or two, and a few Runners darting past the chattering citizens. She's always wanted one as a companion or friend, and considers each Drake to be extremely intelligent, never putting it past the creatures to be hiding more than they seem.

++Her sister: Artemia's sister, Muse, is a caring, obedient girl with a high intelligence level. She is the one to coax Artemia into going into town, and though she isn't allowed herself, has always hoped to go into town with her sister when Artemia let her to help her find friends or just be kinder. Wants to reintroduce Artemia back into society so she isn't miserable when they go to Arstal's busy cities.

++Water/Rivers/Waterfalls: After living on the uninhabited/less inhabited forests and open spaces of Janra all her life, Artemia has picked up on things such as which rivers lead to off-isle waterfalls, and when (I.e. when the rivers will sweep her off the isle, which rivers connect to waterfalls, which are branches that don't connect directly to the waterfall for whatever reason, frozen bends, island waterfalls, dams, etc.). She loves to swim and is a patient fisher, preferably with has curved mini-spears. (got it's own category XD)

Dislikes:
++Senseless slaughter: She is ok with hunting to eat but when people destroy populations or multitudes for fun or for extra food, she does not approve.

++Closed spaces: Growing up and living on an island without a lot of walls and boundaries and buildings, Artemia is used to hunting for her food, not being around lots of people (partially due to her reclusive tendencies and anti-social personality), and not talking to many people her own age (including no boyfriends or real friends). She's grown up in open space and very much prefers it that way.

++Industry: She does NOT like technology and prefers her bow and mini-spears to anything industrial or steam powered.

++People: Artemia is very much anti-social, and if not for her sister's urging and own draw to books, she would not go into town at all. When she was younger she had a few friends her own age or near it, but when her parents died 4 years ago (16 years old) she developed reclusive tendencies and avoided everyone but her younger sister, who she took away from the town(s) of Janra to live in the middle of nowhere, the rural and almost uninhabited areas of the island. She has been around so little people, she is nearly afraid of them. Though she knows she can hold her own in most fights, she has developed androphobia (fear of men), due to the absolute lack of them in her life. While she loved her father he had anger issues, and through some tough times in her early teens (winter mostly) the only man she had contact with weighed twice as much as she and was a good two feet taller.


Backstory:

Artemia was orphaned with her 13 year old sister when she was 16 (9 yo sister). She was the one to find her parents dead and has cared simply for her sister since, reclusively living on her instincts and parents' hunting tactics to support the two of them. She ventures into town only when absolutely necessary from her sister's coaxing. Artemia has a less-than-satisfactory education but she taught her sister everything she could from math and science to reading and writing. She's a strong reader but her writing skills are under average. Her sister was extremely talented in her studies and wanted to undertake a full education, so Artemia decided to enter the raffle as a way to pay for her sister to leave Janra and study in Arstal. She was sure she wouldn't be chosen, believing that hundreds would partake - but when a messenger waited for her to go to town, she found out that three days earlier she had been chosen.

She is unaware of why her parents suddenly died, but suspects that they were killed by infection/poison of some sort. After searching their bodies, she couldn't find anything amiss besides the looks in their eyes and their black irises. After burying their bodies she and her sister mourned them. Ever since Artemia has stopped going into town much and stuck with her sister, who she hasn't allowed into town or even very far out of her sight. Before the incident, Artemia had a few childhood friends that she hasn't spoken to in a very long time, including Obroox.

Appearance:

She has silky black hair that falls to her mid back and dark brown eyes. You can't see her pupils easily because they blend in with the brown or her iris, there is a ring of light brown at the edge of her iris that is contrasted greatly by the dark. She is 5'6" and despite her broad shoulders is an average, leaner build. Weighs 130 lbs. She is of healthy weight and built sturdily for a girl. Very agile and quick on her feet. She has very good predatory instincts - good for sensing things amiss, spotting weaknesses in prey and humans, and sometimes sensing presences if she concentrates enough.

Personality:
Artemia is currently a recluse. She lives in the nearly uninhabited area of Janra and hunts there to survive. Her sister, Muse, is the only person she cares about and for. She lives for her sister and will do anything she likes, even if it means moving to Arstal, the busiest and most technologically advanced island. Originally, the plan was to go to Alstor, but the next best education would be Arstal. She is the definition of androphobic and afraid of guys. In town she is able to deal with guys as long as they are a fair distance away. Due to her reclusive tendencies, staying away from town, androphobia, and lack of self-confidence, she has never had a relationship with a guy other than when she was young and had male friendships. She could be the leader sort if she weren't so suspicious of people. Does not have a drake but bonds well with animals. The past few years she has actually attempted to heal some of the sick animals - but at one point a small rodent showed up with symptoms similar to that of the recorded effects of the rot, so she has stopped healing sick animals for fear of becoming sick herself. She worries that Janra might be next to end up like Alstor.

Mutation/Power:
Her mutation is elevated senses. Her eyesight is very good but still less than that of a raptor's(hawk, falcon, etc) and her hearing is extremely powerful and picks up sounds coming from far away. Her natural instincts are even better after she gains this mutation. (This would be categorized as a mutation because the way her power works is she had individual genetic codes 'unlocked' by the rot. Thus her senses were heightened and her instincts were further improved.) Soon after reaching the rotted lower world, her ears will constantly be itchy and sore and her eyes will ache and sting. She will have to leave her eyes closed for several hours and everytime she opens them, her vision will look more and more streamline and she will be able to see further. After a night or so, her eyes will stop burning and she'll be found to have slitted eyes, like those of a cat or drake. For another half a day she will be wearing cold wet wraps over her ears, and when they are removed it will be revealed that she has grown pointed ears, elven-like but not as elongated.

The downsides in this mutation are that if very loud sounds (above 135 dB) occur and she is within a certain range (depending on how loud and how far she is) it can cause temporary deafening, or worse. Another downside is if the sun isn't blocked by clouds at all, or is close (revolution-arily speaking) to the planet, it can take her multiple minutes to an hour for her eyes to adjust. Her iris' natural color helps sometimes in this regard by soaking up some of the immediate light. However if a very bright light is shown close to her eyes, it can cause temporary blindness as well, usually lasting several hours.



Other: Has a bunny named ButtBuns; That drake is fluffy. I shall name it Fluffy. Fluffy is fluffy. Fluffy is mine. (I really don't know what that was about. I think that was in a movie about something either fluffy or squishy..i cant remember).
**Will smudge mud or dark brown/black paint under her eyes to help with the glare of the sun with her eyes so sensitive (similarly to a cheetah).**

Likes:
++Animals: Cara has always had a very special place in her heart for animals. She has always bonded easily with animals, Her birth parents knew it when they put her with the Goliath, and her adoptive parents knew it when they witnessed her interacting with animals around the farmlands, runaway horses, and only more so knew it when they gave her Saiga and she dealt with the drafts and merchandise.

++Saiga: A bit on the chipper/optimistic side of the personality spectrum, Cara loves drakes of any kind, but the Runners are her favorite. (Fun fact: she loves lizards because they 'look like runners, but mini sized!') Her partner drake, Saiga, has been her best friend for 4 years now. Saiga was given to Cara to raise from a young hatchling for the anniversary of her first year of trading. Saiga is loyal, protective, and very intelligent. She's like the border collie of Runner drakes and is stronger than your average Runner. Her favorite food is raw chicken legs. She, if anything, is very much the cautious factor involved in Cara's choices. Cara is the kind of person that gets taken advantage of, and Saiga seems to know this and look out for her.

++People: She LOVES people. Cara believes that no matter who you are, you have good in you.

++Kraen: Cara loves the island that took her in, the farming community that raised her, and her adoptive parents - two on-the-rise merchants on the east side of the island. Due to her cheerful nature, most of the people that know her on the island are worried for her when she ventures into the real world - which she has now, and look where it got her; venturing into unknown almost sure-death territory for a cure to something she is clueless about.

Dislikes:
++Rot: She cried for days over the deaths of unknown people in Alstor, and refuses to let the Rot take any of the other islands. She is vehement about finding a cure and wants to do everything and anything in her power to stop the spread. She'd like to reverse it, but is not THAT optimistic and knows that she can't fix the hearts and bodies of Alstorians that lost their families, homes, livelihoods, etc when half of Alstor fell.

++The family she never knew: The only things Cara really HATES is a downer. Someone that believes their life isn't worth anything and is ready to throw away their life for anyone. Cara hates that. And the main reason for it is because of what her biological parents did for her. She hates that they risked their lives to save their 4 year old daughter's. She doesn't remember their faces or what they were like, but she does remember a song that at least one of them would sing to her at night to keep her quiet and calm.


Backstory:
Cara was born on Nar. For four years she lived in complete poverty with her mother and a father, but she cannot remember much else about her early childhood. Cara was stowed away on a Goliath heading up to Kraen to deliver supplies and recently mined minerals. Her parents smothered coal from the mines over her body and tucked her near the head of the Goliath, knowing her close bonds with passing drakes and many animals would keep her safe under the Goliath's watchful eyes. (Idk im trying to picture the goliaths and how i see it they are friendly giants that fly slowly and completely steady XD).

She seems to get along with anyone and everyone, and after reaching Kraen was found by some people unloading the supplies while the Goliath was 'docked'. She was taken in by a sympathetic farmer that - while he felt bad - couldn't take care of her alone. She was then raised by a small local portion of the farming community and when she was 7, a merchant couple came along and decided to adopt her. They had just moved to the eastern part of the island and were still on the lower end of the trading spectrum. She went to a nice school until she was about 19, when she decided to start working with her parents' business. She was given a Runner drake hatchling for the anniversary of her first year, which they knew she'd keep close and develop a close bond with. She delivered things to customers and fellow traders on the island, often acting as a shepherd and guard for the draft drakes pulling the merchandise. She named her drake Saiga(http://vignette3.wikia.nocookie.net/dungeonsanddragons art-source...this is how i imagine the runners are built, without the frills at the head. Maybe without the spikes too, not sure..anyway, how i imagine they are built). She joined the raffle because she wants to find a cure (see dislikes-rot). She hoped she'd be chosen, and everyone around her prayed for her safety and not being drawn. When she was drawn no one was sure how it'd end up. Many are sure she'll die out there, but she, and a few others her optimism has rubbed off on believe she might be able to at least come back alive. She, knowing that it was going to be dangerous, opted to leave Saiga behind. However, the drake, and her family, were vehement on the Runner going with her to protect her.

She has short ginger-red hair and green eyes. Her hair falls near to her shoulders but she always kept it close to her head so that she wouldn't get caught anywhere. She is 5'4" and weighs 110 lbs, being a bit underweight and leanly built. She is convenient for Saiga in this way because when she keeps herself lowered on Saiga, the Runner is more streamline and gets around faster.

Personality:
Cara loves the island that took her in, the farming community that raised her, and her adoptive parents. She's a very caring person and wants to help everybody. Due to her cheerful nature, most of the people that know her on the island are worried for her when she ventures into the real world - which she has now, and look where it got her; venturing into unknown almost sure-death territory for a cure to something she is clueless about. Cara is the kind of person that gets taken advantage of, and if it weren't for Saiga would definitely be in a lot of trouble CONSTANTLY. Cara is very gullible and tends to trust very easily. She can be involved in a direct conversation and suddenly blank out and her mind will wander. She's usually the outgoing cheerful type. Optimistic as all heck and likable if only for her cheerful and light-in-the-dark personality. While she is extremely happy-go-lucky, she is also very responsible and knows when to be serious. She is a great herder of manless drafts carting merchandise and can drive about 4 drafts at once solo.

Mutation/Power:
After contact with the rot, Cara is able to get into the minds of most species of animals. Not exactly 'get into the mind' but she seems to know what they are thinking after a few looks. When speaking to lesser-level-intelligent(not super smart) animals she seems to get feelings or one word thoughts; she cannot speak back, but can concentrate and send "picture images". These animals include most rodents, small animals, fish of most kinds, and farm-raised animals. Medium-level animals can receive and give one word thoughts and even give short sentences(Cara cannot send them sentences, however. Picture images, a few words, etc). These animals are mostly horses, dogs, cats, wolves, bears, most species of birds, (most wild animals in general), etc. High-level intelligent animals can give and receive up to short sentences. They can give longer sentences affixed with picture images to explain, feelings, and so on. These animals include all types of drakes (if there is a type you think wouldn't be this smart, or wouldn't be able to communicate with her, tell me :) Like drafts might be less smart than other drakes, or maybe Goliaths cant speak but can send pictures/words/feelings, etc), whales and dolphins (if there are oceans and such), monkeys, pigs (though they speak pig latin? XD little bit of humor), and raptors/owls of any kind.

However, there are many downsides to Cara's 'bestial telepathy'. She can get headaches, dizzy, nosebleeds, and faint depending on how long she takes communicating, how intelligent, and how much energy she has. If she is tired, she could faint after getting a simple feeling from a mouse or rabbit. If she is at full energy, she could spend probably about 10 minutes conversing with a high intelligent animal. Basically, the more intelligent the animal, the worse the headache, the longer she's unconscious, the more blood she loses. Another, less obvious downfall that she doesn't realize until later, if an animal is experiencing an extreme feeling (fear or anger) she can get a splitting headache even if she isn't connected with them. It's sort of like the animal's mind can overpower her own in that situation and cause her pain.



Other:
If the mutation/power doesn't have a severe enough downfall, i have one more idea for it just in case >:33 though it may cause some problems. Bewareeee if you dareeee~~.

Looks:
Human - Hazel eyes, light brown hair, is well-muscled but looks lean and lanky. Hair to about mid-back.
Wolf/Leopard - has wolf ears and a wolf's slightly bushy tail, eyes become slits, long pointed fangs/canines.

Personality: Danny is usually a cynical girl but has a sweet and caring side. She's extremely skeptical and untrusting of most men. Shes loyal, (some qualities obtained in part through the wolf DNA), a natural leader, extremely hierarchical, and needs something to go off of, a well-thought out plan. She is extremely OCD, and resembles a tomboy. She usually keeps to herself, however when you are her friend she will never stop talking and always be close to you. She's claustrophobic with some anxiety problems, and while she acts tough she can be a bit of a mess-physically and emotionally. Danny is.... a bit 'ker-fluffled' as she says, or "klutzy-naive-and-gullible". She can also be extremely focused at times, especially when she relies on her wolf senses. Shes not as naive as she might think, and is especially good at talking you out of things you were very sure of seconds before.

Other: enhanced senses, eyesight, hearing, smell. Seems to sense things like a wolf would- things in her blind sight, sharpened ability to tell if someone/thing is watching her, etc. really agile and quick ///like a leopard/// but also strong and a fighter like a wolf, fairly tall, 5'8, likes to swim, very intelligent and intellectual. Can be used in animal DNA rps, some type of werewolf rps, etc, just alter as the sign ups say.

Most of her color comes from her german shepherd mother Hera. She has a white and gold eye that comes from her husky genes (father). Her legs are a rusty red color. Shasta is muscularly built and stands at 25" at the shoulder. She weighs 70 lbs even.

:: Personality ::
Kind and loyal, Shasta wants to prove that females can be just as strong as male dogs and as helpful in the growth of this large pack. Has always had trust in Snarl's leadership, but has recently backed down in her formerly vehement support of his decisions and in being a good leader (usually arguing with Ryu). She trusts that Snarl will figure out his wrongs himself and plans to remain a loyal subordinate. She greatly looks up to Kiya for becoming Lead Solider and is as loyal as possible to the more experienced canine. She can think for herself and is not afraid to speak her mind, but has a personal motto to always remain loyal to whomever you believe knows best.

:: Brief History ::
Born to a former Forest Hunter husky father, and a silky german shepherd civilian mother named Hera, Shasta never knew her father as he disappeared before she was able to open her eyes. She is sometimes consoled about this fact, as apparently her father was well liked by most dogs and very gentle, but she sees her puphood as normal - since she doesn't know any better. She cares not for breeding or puppies, as most females her age do. Since she was young, she has felt that females are usually regarded as the lesser sex, even when some females hold powerful places in the pack, they are often underestimated.

:: Relationships ::
Hera / Loves / Mother - Shasta has always had a soft spot for her mom. She has an inkling of what she does in her spare time, but has chosen not to look into it too much "She just wants what's best for the pack."

Kiya / Admires / Head Soldier - Shasta hopes to one day be as strong and as well respected as Kiya.

Ryu / Loves / Adopted older brother - As Shasta was told at about 6 months old, Ryu was her parents' first child, and was adopted a year before she was born. After spending lots of time with her older sibling, she came to the conclusion that she liked having a brother, and though sometimes she can tell he isn't happy with her opinion about her father, she loves him all the same and hopes he will forgive her and love her just the same.

Hera is a silky german shepherd and stand at about 24" at the shoulder, just shorter than both of her children. She weighs about 73 lbs in all her long fur and shepherdness.

:: Personality ::
Manipulative and seductive, Hera is not what you'd expect the mother of Shasta, and the mate of Nanook, to be like whatsoever. She is seductive and gets her intel through seducing male soldiers and higher members of the pack in secret. She is basically leading her small active revolution of overthrowing Snarl, and often allows any number of rumors to spread about her, unless they endanger her revolution. Usually ends up keeping her meals for herself through manipulation and seducing the ones in charge of the food. To Snarl, she is just like any civilian and delivers her food. She stays out of sight from almost all of the pack besides the civilians, and has plans to set up a secret area for the civilians to eat so they can regain their strength and possibly rebel. She has likely escaped the blunt paranoia of Snarl's personality through acting gracious and generally like a damsel-in-distress among the presence of the elite dogs. She gets away with being well-fed by stating that her silky long fur covers her sleek form and any signs of not eating well enough.

:: Brief History ::
Grew up a stray, wild dog in the big city. When the humans ran, she started a small pack of about 7 dogs, all pets. She scolded their dependence on humans and taught them how to survive for themselves, pressuring them in her manipulative ways to 'realize' their humans had never cared for them. When the three leaders gathered the dogs, she and her small pack joined because Hera didn't want to have to deal with a very large rival pack. She soon fell in love with Nanook, and adopted Ryu shortly afterward. (continued in Ryu's backstory and Hera's relationships).

:: Relationships ::
Nanook / Loved / Mate / Deceased - The only male she's ever loved and cared for. While she was mated to him, Hera was actually much nicer and never felt the need to manipulate others. She loved the gentle, kind-hearted Nanook too much and fell madly in love. She never had a problem with Snarl's overtaking as leader, and in her opinion as long as no one touched her or Nanook she cared not who was Leader.

Ryu / Manipulating; Cared for / Adopted son; Apprentice / Alive - Hera once cared for Ryu like her own son, but this was before Nanook died. When Nanook died, Ryu housed too many memories of Nanook for her so she didn't bother to worry about him after Nanook died.

Shasta / Cares for / Daughter / Alive - Hera feels as though Nanook has been watching over Shasta, because Shasta is as kind and thoughtful as Nanook was, though Shasta never knew her father. Hera is only kind and tries not to manipulate her daughter ever, unless Hera is placing a wool over her eyes so that she can't be blamed for her mother's treacherous plots.

Cheyenne / Respects, Fellow Saboteur / Alive - Respects as a fellow dog and civilian for her temper and standards. Works with her now and again to foil some plans, and would like the mix to join her in plotting more than just a disruption now and then. (This ok?)

Ryu is an undocked, uncut doberman pinscher. He was newly born when the earthquake occured, and was spared the traditional docking of most dobermans. He stands at 28" and weighs 80 lbs. He is built very muscularly and if he was mature/smart enough, he'd probably make a very good Soldier.

:: Personality ::
Confident and flirty, Ryu is the 'playboy' of the neo-revolution. He follows Hera around like an apprentice, and tries to acquire what females like about males the best. He isn't the smartest bone in the yard and ends up being played by Hera most of the time, which he probably wouldn't mind if he was smart enough to realize he was being manipulated. He is the 'hunter' of the rebellion and very good at his job, but acts MORE stupid around the leader gatherers and gives half his catches to Hera and only the bare minimum meals to the pack. (If possible could he 'work' with Sol in feeding the civilians?)

:: Brief History ::
Orphaned soon after he was weened, he was took in by Hera and trained under her like an apprentice or her own son, since at the time she didn't have any puppies. (see relationships). After Nanook's death, he started drifting away from Hera and Shasta, missing the first few months of Shasta's puphood. After Snarl's leadership started growing corrupt with power, he came crawling back to Hera, knowing his adoptive mother would have something up her sleeves to end the mastiff somehow. Shasta was 6 months old. Ever since then he's been right behind Hera with all his power.

Hera / Admires, Loves, Adores / Adoptive Mother / Alive - Hera adopted him after his parents died, and he grew up under her and Nanook's(husky male/deceased) watchful care. Hera was like an idolization to him, and he loves her like a teacher.

Nanook / Loved, Admired / Adoptive Father / Deceased - Nanook ("bear") and Ryu were very close during the time that he lived, and knew him for about a year. While he took to Hera quickly, it took him a bit longer to trust Nanook. This never affected their relationship after they bonded, and Ryu saw Nanook as a father-figure.

Shasta / Both cares for and envies / Adopted little sister / Alive - When Hera and Nanook had Shasta, Ryu both loved his little sister and envied her. He felt as though Hera and Nanook cared more deeply for her than him, since she was blood. When Nanook disappeared, Ryu was an inconsolable wreck. It was like he had lost his father. But to Shasta, who grew up without knowing him, Nanook was just a husky that had given her half her genes. Ryu has never forgiven her for this, and sometimes hates her for that point of view, even though he knows she can't help how she grew up.

Usually a VERY submissive and quiet dog, Connie had to do everything asked of her during the 3 corrupted leaders' reign. She did it without complaint, content on living a nightmare as long as she could live. She finally broke in her hope that "at least she was living" when one of the leaders took a last turn for the worse - just days before Snarl overturned them - and decided to let out some steam on her. Since then she's been colder, still submissive and quiet, but instead of a quiet hopeful, she just wants to make sure nothing like this ever happens to another female again.

:: Brief History ::
Was born in a kennel and adopted as a therapy dog. She was trained to do simple tasks for her ill human companion and would do anything for the girl, who died shortly before the earthquake. The family had a very hard time letting go of their daughter's last remaining memento but ultimately had to, which Connie both hoped and believed with all her heart to be so.

Shasta - alive - adores: Wishes Shasta were her own daughter, as the shepherd/husky mix is always the first to come to her aid when she is being harassed. Shasta cannot lawfully stop the harassment, but apparently she can find ways to sneak the dog/s away, or give Connie a reason to be elsewhere. After bad bouts of harassment, Shasta is usually the first to bring her to Sol or a shaman, though the mix usually prefers to bring her to the Forest Hunter. If Connie ever plans on telling anyone about her hidden puppy, it will be Shasta. Connie is the main reason Shasta cares so much about proving females are strong too.

She is the largest of her litter of 4 (one stillborn, the rest suffocated by Connie) and while her mother had wanted a male to survive the litter so that pup wouldn't be treated as terribly as a female, the only live male born was the runt and Connie figured a strong female would fare better than a tiny male pup. When she reaches a year old she will weigh 90 lbs and be 22" tall. When she is 2 years and fully grown, she will weigh 147 lbs and be 32" tall. She has a thick, long haired tail that curls up at the end, dark black spots littered on her back, and has a light under-layer of black spots that make her look like she has light dalmation spotting. When she is wet, these spots are much more apparent and resemble a dalmation's spotting. She IS long furred and fluffy, with two large black spots that cover her eyes, ears, cheeks, and end at the top of her neck. They do not reach her muzzle and form a thin white blaze on her forehead down to her open muzzle.

:: Personality ::
Mina is a quiet but observant female, much quieter than most dogs her age or younger. This is due to her mother's coaxing to be as quiet and out of sight as possible. She is well muscled, very analytical, and intelligent. She is extremely mature for her age and understands most gray area/not right/not quite wrong topics that most dogs her age wouldn't understand very well or wouldn't have a clear opinion on. She is the definition of socially uneducated and has only met one other dog besides her own mother. She is an adept hunter but has never really needed to fight, so she never learned to. In the months in the forest, she's only once come across a half-coyote, who was just as spooked by her arrival as she was about his. They went their separate ways rather peacefully, after exchanging warnings about the pack's whereabouts.

:: Brief History ::
Born to a deceased father and skittish mother, she was hidden in her mother's birthing den while her mother delivered the other 3 puppies to Snarl as proof that she had a "stillborn" litter and was no longer carrying one of the previous leader's pups. She was cared for by her mother, who played the "I'm grieving for an entire litter of stillborn puppies" card to slip away from camp for a week. After the first week she continued to go back and forth, the pup in a half collapsed building that most considered too dangerous to enter. That turned out to be true and at just about 4 and a half weeks, some of the building's rafters started sliding. At one point, a rafter finally fell and sliced her front left leg open. Connie took the 5 week old to Sol for help, and the doberman promised to keep her secret.

For the next two months she was basically a little less than on her own, Connie spent much of her days at the camp and half the night with Mina, teaching her where to go, how to hide, and what buildings were safest for her to stay in, both structurally sound and away from the pack dogs. When she was younger, she spent her days in a different place every other night, constantly on the move and never giving Snarl a chance to track her down. She rolled in mud and water any chance she got to keep herself from being tracked by scent and/or sight. As her third month passed, Mina began wandering outside the city, because the only dogs permitted out are forest hunters and a few others, it is easier for her to keep away from them. She spends all day in the forest and most of the night, only coming back into the city when it's dangerous in the forest, or meeting with her mother. She still rolls in water and mud in the forest to mask her scent and keep her hidden from sight (as much of her pelt is white) and whenever she sees Sol in the forest will more often than not join him for a hunt - when she was younger learning to hunt from him and after then has helped him find extra food as a hunting partner.

:: Relationships ::
Connie | Mother | alive - She both loves and envies her mother. She wishes to interact with others in the pack and even though she has a distinct idea of what her mother's daily life is like, Mina does not understand the specifics of being an Omega. She simply wants to play with the other puppies and dogs in the pack.

Sol | Friend, Healer | alive - When she was young she was taken to the doberman to get treated after being gashed by a falling beam. Since, she's received injury and scar treatment from the doberman and likes to consider him a friend - since he's the only contact she has had.

Cara’s a very caring person and wants to help everybody. She is a very motherly person and has her stricter or gentler moments respectively. She can be involved in a direct conversation and suddenly blank out and her mind will wander, usually being telepathically spoken to by a querying animal. She's usually the introverted-motherly type. Her passion is and has always been animals, and she usually sneaks out of the city to care for sick, wounded, or her general rehabilitation animals. Viktor is the only one that knows about that little piece of info and while in conversation she might talk your ears off, she is timid and introverted when she meets new people or just passing by. Being the motherly and gentle person she is, the only thing that she liked about the ERP was the times when she could chat normally with the other weapons or experiments. She liked training if only to practice her ability, but the fighting part she did not have her charges taking part in. This is where she was beat on. While training in the ERP, Valka and Raava were elsewhere, Valka usually checking in with her from farther away, keeping away from the ERP’s suspicions.

:: Brief History ::
Cara was born into a poverty stricken family in Kenya. Being the quarter-African three-quarters Dutch that she was, with both her parents leaving her for their own goals around her third birthday, she was soon given to a local orphanage, though whether her parents were dead or not is unclear to her. She was sent to North America about a year later and grew up as one of 4 foster kids with a family in Canada. She and her foster siblings went to a small nearby school until she was about 16, where she graduated a year early and started attending the closest 4 year college, getting multiple scholarships because of her background. She finished school with a bachelors in animal behavior and a minor in veterinary science. She worked at a rehabilitation center for about a year and a half, becoming particularly close with a female white with black spotted gyrfalcon that she took care of. Being well known for her seemingly unusual connection to animals and her knowledge of animal behavior, she had been working at the center for around 5 months when she was asked to check on a rare species a local zoo had been trying to use in a species survival plan breeding while the animal simply refused all her prospective mates. The animal was a panthera uncia, a female Snow Leopard by the name of Raava. Born in captivity and 3 years old, the female had refused every potential male presented to her and the zoo was at a total loss. Being that the cause was unknown, Raava was brought to the rehabilitation center to be observed by Cara and the other rehabbers.

For the next year Raava and the gyrfalcon were very important presences in Cara’s life, especially when all her senior officers at the center, her family, and friends all started dropping like flies. For another 6 months they died, and when Cara was suddenly the only person that showed up to work one day, almost exactly a year ago, she assumed the worst and released any animals that were almost ready, and packed the others that weren’t. The gyrfalcon and Snow Leopard were also packed, and Cara drove the center’s largest trailer out of their, planning on going to a city she had heard was a sanctuary. Along the way, she released multiple other animals into their original areas, and dropped the remaining animals at a nearby, abandoned sanctuary that she decided to stay at. It was much smaller than her previous one, and she sadly had to bury many animals that had been left behind.

At this point, Cara had begun to hear voices, see random pictures, and was overwhelmed with wide ranges of emotions. She blamed it on the lack of human interaction she’d had and though that’s what she told herself to calm down, she nearly went mad one morning because of it. It was only at this point that she realized the voices were her concerned and chatting charges. Upon further experimentation and probing, she figured out some of the basics. The animals were hearing and gossiping about people all over obtaining strange new powers, and there was a group forming that was going around kidnapping those people. Cara took care of the animals for a few more months until she was suddenly taken by the ERP, and made into an experiment. After a failed experiment, she left her scientist head nearly dead, the laboratory nearly destroyed, a vice president keeping Viktor near so her friend could calm her down, she was graduated to a weapon and escaped soon after with Viktor.


:: Powers ::
Cara is able to telepathically communicate with animals. When speaking to lesser-level-intelligence(not super smart) animals she seems to get feelings or receives one word replies/statements; she cannot speak back, but can send pictures of what she is thinking of and a feeling or two in order to communicate with them. These animals include most rodents, small animals, fish of most kinds, and small farm-raised animals. Medium-level animals can receive and give one word thoughts and even give short sentences(Cara cannot send them sentences, however. Picture thoughts, a few words, feelings). These animals are mostly horses, dogs of most breeds, cats, bats, most species of birds, (most domestic/human-coexisting animals in general), etc. Most exotic animals fall in between medium and high-level intelligence. Exotic/non-domesticated herbivore animals like deer, zebras, etc fall in with horses in the medium level, while predators like foxes and badgers fall somewhere between those herbivores and cats/birds. High-level intelligent animals can give and receive up to short sentences. They can give longer sentences affixed with picture images to explain, feelings, and so on. These animals include most well-known apex predators(excluding those already mentioned...apex predators ‘upon introduction only’ do not count either), birds of prey- the well known raptors and owls, whales, dolphins, pigs, crows/ravens, squirrels, elephants, and monkeys/gorillas/apes.

Once she uses this power on an animal, they are ‘marked’. Meaning that if she tried to contact them again, she has a higher possibility of reaching them over a longer distance. She can influence those animals into helping her fight (though they won’t do anything that contends with their morals). While she gives instructions/talks to the animals, she is completely vulnerable to attack and will not even notice her surroundings, like a trance state of ONLY seeing the animal. She must be in eyesight to connect with an unmarked animal. Other downsides to Cara's 'bestial telepathy' include severe headaches, dizziness, and a loss of consciousness depending on what she is doing and how many she is communicating with at once. Another, more severe weakness to this power, is if an animal she is entranced with is experiencing an extreme feeling (fear or anger) Cara will experience immense pain in her head. This occurs even if she hasn't connected with the animal before. It's sort of like the animal's mind can overpower her own in that situation and cause her pain.

In addition to the animal’s emotions overtaking her own, a more severe version of this is when she uses her abilities on a large scale and overdoes it, she has the possibility of ‘becoming’ an animal/one of the animals she is communicating with. She loses her humanity and slowly becomes the animal in her own mind. She cannot shift into the animal, nor does she get an “upgrade” to her physical fitness levels/own abilities. This can cause fear, anger, and sometimes even fury in her own mind, and she will basically go mad, like an animal inside the body of a human - usually their oppressors/masters/enemies. She will not recognize her own friends in this state, and will attack both friend and foe alike until she is calmed(known things to calm her down include and are limited to Viktor’s quick thinking). This was figured out when she was an experiment and one of the more madness driven scientists decided to push her to the brink of her power. She went mad and after nearly killing the scientist and making the laboratory a mess, she was basically given a little more freedom so that she could relax from the experimenting. She had to go in for check ups once a month or after particularly harrowing missions but had essentially graduated her experiment training.

Viktor - Cara considers Viktor her best friend and the other pea. The Jekyll to her Hyde (lol. Get itttt...he’s odd/crazy? :O #sofunny). He is the only one she trusts wholeheartedly, and would trust any of her charges(animals) in his care. Raava and Valka seem to like him too, and often Valka will land on his arm if he leaves it out to her. Cara rathers his glasses off, but understands his embarrassment/awkwardness at having people stare at his eyes. When they are alone/at the base, Cara will go so far as taking his glasses off herself and tucking them into her pockets. She is also the kind of person that would totally blank out mid conversation and if she does this while still being present (and not communicating with another animal) she will just examine the bugs on his arms. Her favorite is his owl butterfly. She is also the kind of person that, if she felt silly enough, would grab his skin and make the bugs move, or move their mouths and speak at the same time, have a staring contest with the owl butterfly and shush him when he asked what she was doing, etc. This usually gets her into a fit and she has to sit down for a moment to get her breath back. She is like his own personal translator as well, and while she would never admit it openly, she would like to think that she helped to calm him down when he first came the the ERP. Being asexual, she didn’t ever really mind his suggestive flirting or inappropriate jokes, and just shrugged them off until he got bored of trying to mess with her.

Avery - unknown until planned. “Bird Mom”

Raava - Raava is Cara’s friend and self-proclaimed bodyguard. She is about 5.5 years old. She is constantly traveling with - and within eyeshot of - Cara and can be found prowling by her side while she communicates with the animals. She was born in captivity and is generally on good terms with Valka (though they have had their differences of opinion and Raava has attempted to eat the falcon on more than one occasion).

Valka / Saiga - Valka has been Cara’s best friend for the past 3 years. Her birth name is Saiga, but she has gone by Valka for the last 3 years of her captivity. She is 5 years old. She considers herself to be Cara’s ‘eyes of the sky’, often communicating with her on the happenings of outside the ERP, the things around her, and other people.

N/A - Unknown. Probably likes Viktor as more than a best friend, but he’s self conscious and she’s dense and uninterested in a serious relationship, so we probably won’t see where this relationship goes.

She is large and her fur has mottled leopard spots where it is not white/co-dominant gray. Snow leopards are naturally nearly silent and when it is snowy she blends in well enough to do the name of the "ghost cat" justice. Reconnaissance is not a thing that she likes to do at any time because she doesn’t like leaving Cara’s side. She weighs 80 lbs and is 60 inches from head to the base of her tail, which is 36 inches long. She is taller than most others of her breed, standing 30 inches at the shoulder. As Cara originally theorized, she is demisexual (which is even more unusual since pairs only interact in mating season). She was named for her loud chuffing and constant meowing in her early cubhood. As with many other birds, Valka is larger in size than her male counterparts. She is a multi-colored white/gray/brown morph gyrfalcon with dark spots of varying size. Reconnaissance is most definitely her thing and she takes it very seriously, though she would rather keep up above Cara to watch for danger. She is 24 inches long exactly, from beak to tail, and has a wingspan of 60 inches exactly and weighs 4.4 lbs. She is a white/gray morph and has overlying dark spots/dark coloring.

Appearance
Artemis has grey-white eyes that are infamous among the hunters (backstory). They look like small pools of moonlight and this ties in with a popular Hunter-in-training myth that werewolves have moons for eyes. Artemis is around 5'3, weighs 130 lbs of compact muscle, and has palish, lighter skin. Her pale skin color is due in part to her tendency to stick to moving at night and sticking in shadows during the day. She has a scar that she got from the fire years ago, that runs under her chin to the edge of her throat and outlines her lower right jaw. It's fainter now than it was years ago, but anytime she has nightmares, she finds herself itching at her scar to bring herself back to reality. Her hair is a mix of gray-brown colors, and ranges from dark brown to ash gray and even a lighter blue-gray color just to the side of her eyes. She usually wears thick strapped tank tops, ash gray pants, and a good pair of sneakers/running shoes. She has a faded, light gray scarf that a werewolf’s nose could tell is somewhere over 20 years old. The scarf sports obvious wear and tear and is frayed everywhere, but Artemis seems vehement about keeping it no matter what anyone tells her.

Artemis has two tattoos on her body. Between her shoulderblades and the upper half just peeking out above her tank top (which drops off mid shoulder-blade) lies a great horned owl in midflight. The art is decent and clear, but could use some re-inking due to some faint scars that have since been laid across the lines. These scars have faded well due to her werewolf healing, but the lines made by the ink have been replaced with a mix of skin and scar tissue. Her other tattoo is that of a wolf, and it lies just below the base of her shoulder(the front side) and stretches on the underside of her left arm. The wolf looks to be in mid leap, and has been re-inked within the last year or so, obviously special to Artemis. Upon closer inspection and knowledge of her ‘secret’ life, the wolf on her arm closely resembles her own form. It’s eyes look keen and sharp, and it’s fur is well kept and loose. The body is filled out, paws/legs strong and full, which seems to imply that’s how Artemis sees her wolf form looking in the next few years when she is fully grown. It’s expression is calm but focused. When she has her thick tank tops on, it’s hard to see much of the wolf besides its face right below the joint of her shoulder-arm.

In her wolf form, Artemis is lithe and agile, and has a ranging array of colors from light cream to a dark gray and black. Her eyes and nose are dark colored and her ears are dusted with brown. She has large paw pads as she isn't yet fully grown, and stands a bit below average height for a werewolf form. Contrasting her agile and small looks, Artemis is a merciless fighter and while in wolf form, her introvertedness is much less present and she has no problem demonstrating her dominance over most wolves. The best way to glimpse Artemis' true, wild personality is to go for a full-out run with her through the forest. In her wolf form, her impulsiveness shines through and she usually does the first thing on her mind, or attempts to play with the other wolf(ves).

Personality:
Artemis is...many things. To start with the normally positive, Artemis is hard working, obedient, and respectful. She is only respectful to those that earn her respect, which is usually rather hard as she is a stubborn grump. Now the negatives - Artemis is one of the most grumpy, uncaring people you will ever meet. She regards everything the way someone who has been traumatized and angry all her life would be, which is with steadfast disdain and detachment. She is introverted and hates socializing and makes sure she keeps herself as tucked away and non-existent as she possibly can. She doesn't mind people in general, but gatherings and especially 'important people gatherings' are the hardest on her and she avoids them at all costs unless it is absolutely necessary. She hates to be the center of attention and therefore has adapted to being a shadow. People naturally just kind of forget she was ever present in the room and reduces her physical and mental presence as much as she consciously can. She is what you call emotionally detached, and while she will stick around somewhere, she doesn’t reveal much about herself or her past - though it’s easy to guess that something happened a long time ago, with her terrible nightmares. Artemis sleeps well every night - until the nightmares fall on her. When she has a bad night of nightmares, she is often snarky and jumpy the next morning. It is entirely possible for Artemis to be authoritative and imposing, but she would rather not be, as that requires eyes on her.

Artemis loves going on ‘runs’ and does so whenever she needs to get away - if she can. If she goes too long without running freely, she gets antsy and more snappy than she already is. Secretly, she is rather keen on observing others, something she picked up looking like a 15 year old helpless girl on the streets, looking for all who cared like a runaway that wouldn’t be missed. She likes to hide this little tidbit though so that she doesn’t attract anyone’s attention and be viewed as a threat.

Artemis’ trust is extremely hard to earn, and she doesn’t plan on loaning, renting, or giving away any of it anytime soon. Once you have it, you can basically unlock her heart. If respect is hard to earn, her trust and faith is even harder. Artemis - in her conscious mind/memory - has not trusted a living soul in her lifetime.

Brief History:
(oh jeezus this won't end up being very 'brief', warning you now XD)

Artemis was named and turned in her first 2 years of life. (not sure how old to be turned, very early nonetheless). She was raised partially in the house even before she was turned, as her human parents had particular perks. However, her rather peaceful first two years were quickly interrupted, and Artemis was orphaned in a large fire at her home when she was about 3. Her mother succeeded in saving her life after Artemis watched her father get caught under a burning beam. She heard his screams until they ended, and minutes later remembers her mother collapsing, after removing her scarf and wrapping it over Artemis' small head. This blocked out most of the toxic smoke and sight, but also made her light headed. Artemis passed out, and woke up among Hunters. The fire’s origins were ‘unknown’ according to the Hunters. Artemis, 3 then (9 mentally/physically) ended up in the care and watchful supervision of a family of Hunters that rescued her from the fire.

After a few years, they began training her to fight vampires, and her own kind. She was never treated as a child or the Hunter's child, she was treated as a possible prey animal by everyone around her. She began puberty/shifting when she looked a little over 12 (5). At first her fangs and claws grew out, her piercing grey-white eyes turning a dark cream/light yellow color. Then, she was growling and pacing on four legs, resembling a small wolf cub of around 5 months old. She was around the size of an average-large sized wolf then. Her training intensified then, but she always had fun training. She trained with many different weapons for many years, including practicing fighting with her werewolf strength/in wolf form, and her weapons of choice are throwing knives. She trained for 8 human years before she began going on scouting/hunting missions, after her ‘puberty’ ended (looked 14). She has several knives coated in a liquidated form of wolfsbane, and even more that are frequently washed in holy water and are engraved with crosses at the fore of the blades.

She's always been pretty much on her own, even during the time with her adopted family. She spent 4 human years on the streets when she still looked 15 (was 16-20) and learned the ins and outs of taking care of herself. Some were afraid she’d go what other wolves called “rogue”, but she never learned what they meant by that so she continued on her business.

Artemis has a small history with some of the hunters. The Hunters never expected to see a werewolf at their anti-werewolf/anti-vampire meetings/trainings, so while they at first thought Artemis’ eyes were an unnerving coincidence with her name and their prey, they soon learned that she was in fact not just a coincidence. Once she realized she was the center of attention everywhere she went because of her eyes, Artemis began keeping away from the others on her missions altogether. While some of the people would take the time to discuss a meet during missions to exchange information, if she finds one she just kind of...drops on them, and receives the full info through their unpreparedness. Since she started going solo on hunting missions, doing her own thing, her colleagues are simply told “You have a solo artist on your team. Extremely capable, extremely quirky. Keep an eye out.” In circumstances where you are told that, you can assume it is the ‘eye of the moon’ on your team. Most people still don’t get it by then, and Artemis can only guess that none of her mission-mates end up speaking of what took place or what was said out of fear for their lives, or the shame from their fellow human hunters of being jostled and caught off guard by their own prey. Nonetheless, most hunters at least know of her eyes. The eyes of the moon that follow you in the darkness. The eyes of the infinite moon never stop watching. The eyes of the searching moonlight. In retrospect, the hunters have a lot of light jokes. Summoning light, moon-light, searching lights, etc.

Artemis - though she's never really been trusted (whether it be due to her slow aging or species itself) - is one of the Hunters' most loyal non-human killers, and was assigned this mission along with three others a while back. They first scouted completely in the shadows, and have there-since expanded their presence to be known/suspected. Apparently the fear factor is at a perfect level, and so interaction with the houses in question has been permitted. Artemis split up with her fellow hunters, but doesn't know where the other three have gone as of yet.

She does not remember the night her parents presumably died, but has recurring dreams of the fire and shrieking most nights. She has gotten used to them mostly, but will still wake up many nights a week trembling and panting, sweat beading on her forehead or already dripping off her scarred chin. She uses the scarf for mainly this purpose, and will wrap it around herself as much as she can and bury her face into it.
