Yellowstone
This forum is based in Yellowstone! Which means we will follow Yellowstone's weather patterns as well as the food chain.
Current Seasons: Early Spring
Meaning there is still snow on the ground, though it's finally starting to melt. River systems no longer have ice and the fish have returned to the water's surface. Prey has moved into the valley where the pack hunts. Females are starting to come into heat. You must REQUEST for your female character to enter heat by asking on this forum.
Day cycles: IC days will end when I choose to end them, preferably when we've all acknowledged the sky growing dark and our characters heading off to bed. Each day will have a new plot, so to keep things interesting. I will make a post in 'bold' on the roleplay forum to explain the day's plot on each new day.



Den location: The pack's den is located where the valley meets the mountain, a small cave in the rock shelf's side. It's surrounded by vegetation, a nice and secluded place that brings a comfortable feel.
Den Rules: Every pack member is allowed to sleep inside the den, unless the Alphas have pups in there. If that's the case, only higher ranking members will be allowed. Alphas, Betas, and perhaps a select few others. Trust me, you'll know if you're allowed or not. This rule will stand until the Alpha's pups are four months old.



Mates: Mates are allowed. Mates are for life, or until death. Mating outside a courtship is considered 'voodoo' but allowed ONLY with the Alpha's permission. The decision will be based on the time of year, current number of pups in the pack, and whereas the pack's food supply can support a litter.



Pups: Only pups BORN into the pack are allowed. So don't bother applying for them unless there are litter slots currently open.
Adoption: It's rare for the pack to adopt an outside puppy. Considering that it's been abandoned, there is probably something wrong with it health wise. Thus, killing it would be more humane.



Fighting: Fighting is allowed and will probably happen quite often! Fighting can be to establish dominance, challenge a rank, etc etc.
Fight rules:
• Once a fight begins between two wolves, no other wolves are allowed to join unless already in on the fight.
• When a fight starts, the participating wolves may continue to post at one another without having to wait for anyone else to post.
• REMEMBER, a fight happens in a matter of seconds. No matter how long it takes for us to actually roleplay it out. Thus, it is 'preferred' that those characters present and watching HOLD their next posts until the fight is completed.
• If wolf a and wolf b are fighting, and wolf a hasn't posted a reply in two days, wolf b automatically wins due to a forfeit of wolf b. WARNING: If wolf b's intention was to kill wolf a, and openly stated before hand, this will result in wolf a's death.
• Fights will be judged by the alphas OOC. Unless the alphas are the ones fighting, to which then the betas will judge the fight OOCly. Type 'I read the rules' at the end of your application.
• Fights must remain realistic. One attack per post. If your character would not be able to realistically dodge an attack, than you must accept the attack or alter it in some way with a counteraction. No free dodges unless they are realistically able.



Hunting: Your characters can only hunt animals that are found in Yellowstone. Squirrels, rabbits, prairie dogs, turtles, Elk, Bison, etc etc.
Risks: When hunting large prey such as Elk, your character risks getting injured! Hunting anything larger than the size of a petite wolf will have to be rolled for. You will make a post 'ATTEMPTING' your hunt, and I will roll a 20 sided die found off site.
Out of those 20 sides= 1-10 Success without injury. 11-15 Success with injury. 16-20 Failure.
I will honestly supply the detailed roll of the die, so that your next post can include the outcome!
Small Prey: When hunting things smaller than a wolf, you must still make an ATTEMPT post first. I will then roll a 10 sides die.
1-6 Success. 7-10 failure.
• This just makes roleplay fun! And keeps everyone from being the PERFECT hunter.

Rank Descriptions

Alphas: (Mated Pair) Self explanatory. Their word is law. Their commands trump the betas', Lead Warriors', Lead Hunters', and all others. Disrespect an alpha? Get ready for a fight. Challenge-able.

Betas: (Doesnt have to be mated pair.) Second in command. Advisers to the Alphas. Take commands straight from the Alphas. Challenge-able.

Heirs: A chosen heir to the throne, normally from the Alpha's litter. Along with a chosen mate for him or her. They will be trained as the next Alphas.

Lead Warrior: Takes commands straight from the male Alpha. Leads all other warriors. When there is no Lead Warrior, the Alpha fills this position. Challenge-able

Warriors: Those that protect the pack. Some are sent to war and some are tasked with guarding the land/den. They are the first line of defense for the pack.

Lead Hunter: The one most skilled and tactical with the art of hunting. She/he commands the other hunters. When there is no Lead Hunter, the Alpha fills this position. Challenge-able.

Scouts: A rank usually given to those unsocial wolves, or wolves whom would rather explore and/or patrol rather than sit around the den. Neither skilled in the hunting nor fighting department.

Den Mothers: Caretakers of the young and still learning. Those females whom are blessed with a perfect maternal instinct. They protect the pups and teach them, preparing them for later pack life and rank placement.

Pups: Futures of the pack. Those still young and learning. At six months of age they are expected to take interest towards an actual rank. At eight months, they will be promoted to the rank that best suits them.

Omegas: The lowest ranking members. Normally those shamed and/or demoted. They are normally used as a release ( to blow off steam ) for other pack members. Omegas will be subject to attack without reason.

Rogues: Outsiders. Normally those outside the pack's bloodline or those who've been expelled from the ranks. If caught on the territory, they are to be brought to the Alpha 'alive' unless stated otherwise. Rarely are outside wolves recruited, though it's not entirely unheard of.
