Long ago, a lioness cried in anguish over the child she had lost to a rival male. Her mate, also slain by the rival, had failed to protect them from the danger. As was per custom for lions, the rival was to rule over the lioness' lands. However, she had other plans. During the battle for dominance, other lionesses had died in a vain attempt to protect their own cubs. The take over was sloppy and many of the deaths were needless. The former mother refused to obey her new overlord, rejecting him whenever he drew near her. Days went by and the new ruler was losing his grip on the pride he never truly held while the vengeful lioness whispered plans to her sisters.

Under the cover of night, one by one, the lionesses slowly pulled away from the new ruler. In the morning, he'd find that his pride had left him. Making him a rogue once more.

Life went on and many generations passed within the now wandering pride. The pride's faces changed and their landscapes changed as well, always moving into new territories whether they were welcomed or not. The only thing that stayed the same was the spirit their founder had given to them. From that lioness came forth more lionesses who refused to allow another lion rule over them, refusing the death that came with every take over.

In this pride sisters protect brothers.

Kibwe looked out unto the lands she and her Pride were to cross. So many years they had gone on, wandering the great savannas and jungles. Never in her life had Kibwe ever remembered staying in a territory longer than a few days or even a single night. But it was their way of life and it made their legs strong. Not many lions had the stamina to wander, traveling across the lands even if they traveled slowly. There were cubs and elderly to think about. Kibwe looked back over her pride, wondering how they were.

Did they feel tired or hungry or even linger on the cusp of the ever darkness that came with unconsciousness. Kibwe seldom heard a complaint. Maybe it was because she was surrounded by too many to drown out the whimpers. But surely she would be able to hear an upset roar. Her own paws grew weary but still she marched on, searching for something. She walked for many more miles until she found it. A large tree stretched up from the earth it had been planted in many years ago. Its heavy branches stretched out to feed upon the sun's rays of light. Though the tree's only goal was to feed and grow, it had inadvertently provided a cool shade for Kibwe and her people.

Kibwe quickly hopped up one of the flat rocks that rested at the tree's base and climbed up the tree until she found a somewhat flat spot to lay down and rest. With a soft huff of a sigh, Kibwe licked at her sore paw pad a few times before looking up over her subjects.

"We will stay here." Kibwe announced, "For a while anyways, go rest your paws before going out to hunt!" she called, watching her people from the youngest to the oldest. "To those who are going out to hunt, be careful... I scented rogues, they may not be far from here." she growled. The lioness had a clear distaste for prideless males. As they all should, rogues who yearned to take over their pride would kill their cubs. Kibwe wouldn't allow that.

Blu looked at Kibwe with distaste, but followed her orders anyways, as to not get in trouble. Being the outcast of the pride, she walked to a rock, away from the pride. Once she got there, she sat down, and gazed across the plains, thinking of strategies to use on the hunt. She saw a spot in the distance, focusing her attention on it, her heart beating faster from excitement. Blu didn't walk over though, as she knew that it was a lion that didn't belong to the pride. A growl mumbled in her throat, as she continued to watch the lion, lazily walk on the lands. Her paws sore however, she laid down, and crept to the edge of the rock, concentrating on the lion below.

Not sure if he should already be in le pride >.> oh well cx)

With the sun set halfway in the horizon, the heat continued to pour down onto the dry grasslands with a vengeance. The ebonite fiery male however continued to pad along silently with no quarrels with the head mistress and her little ragaband of followers. His crystal gaze boring with no emotion towards the near preyless area before they narrowed in distastw when the pungent ordors of another male, whom did not travel with them, caressed his nostrils. From the pit of his abdomen a growl vibrated low in his esophagus before his gaze settled upon the annoted Queen when she laid herself out in a flat ridge of a shaded tree. Would she not do anything about him? What if he harmed her precious followers? He for one would've slaughtered the male for even coming this close to their little band of misfits. But as he was not in charge of anything but the other males and breedings, once in a while, he just silenced himself and wandered over to the base of the tree to rub his shoulder upon to rid him of an itch that had been driving him nuts since a fortnight ago. "Hm. Eria, come scratch down my backside." Deep baritones rumbled as his gazed flitted over to an albino adolescent female no more than fifteen moons.

Traveling quietly in her friend and masters shadows, the albino mutant rosette just kept her deep blue gaze upon the dry ground. And it wasn't like she was a full on servant, no. It's just the said ebonite male had saved her and her dead friend when she was younger and she literally owed him her life. So she agreed to serve him and help him with whatever he needed but only asked he didn't abuse her. Which he had been living up to. Upon hearing her name after the traveling band stopped for now she just scurried over to Zeref and dug her petite claws into his hide, gently scratching the dry skin til he was satisfied. When he thanked her and waved her away with a brief smile she mostly ever saw, she curled up in his protruding shadow and the base of a flat Boulder and decided to nap for the time being til she would go out and help hunt. Or well.. Learn and help?

Kibwe wasn't worried over the male rogue. He was one and they were many. Or so it seemed, the pride tended to wander through other territories and so one male wandering the savanna could actually be a male with a pride of his own. Kibwe closed her eyes as she thought over what they should do with him. Here was a male that could potentially harm her pride, but he didn't seem to have noticed them or even poise a threat. Still, her pride had cubs to think about. Kibwe's white eyes opened once again before she spoke.

"Keep an eye on that male." Kibwe ordered Blu, "If he seems to be wandering too close or walking towards us, let our males meet him." she added before her eyes closed again. She was too tired to be chasing off a male who didn't seem to have any intentions at all towards her pride. They didn't have any claim to a land or to the land they were in for that matter, killing a male who walked a distance away from them didn't hold any value to Kibwe. She'd rather stay peaceful just because it was easier than going off to war.

Others didn't feel the same, however.

A young, maneless male stood at alert as he glared down the potential threat. He wanted to kill the male for just being near them. It was too much of a risk to let that rogue wander so close to them. Ajamu grunted a soft growl as he paced back and forth, kicking up dust. The lionesses near him complained as said dust made its way into their noses. They batted at Ajamu's legs to get the message across only to be greeted with a snarl from the young male. Still, he walked away from them and wandered away from the group to sit and watch the intruder among the other males.

Ajamu looked up at his king, he was a great and beautiful lion indeed but he held no true power. No male in the pride did. Every decision, every move they made was the females' doing. It irritated Ajamu slightly but he knew what rogue challengers could do. And no other pride seemed to care how Ajamu's pride did things. It was a dangerous world out there for him and his fellow pride members.

"Are we just supposed to sit here while that ticking time-bomb is getting away????" he growled his frustrations to his king. There was no other way for a male to talk to the Queen. Ajamu had seen the Queen being approached before only to get chased away by other pride members. It didn't seem fair, but it was how they did things.

Blu nodded, as she continued to watch the lion walking. Adrenaline started to run through her veins, and her breathing quickened, as so did her heartbeat. Soon a minute passed, and the male started to walk away from the pride, very slowly however, as if he was injured. She looked at him in confusion, but snapped out of it, thinking that it was a strategy of some kind. She laid her head on her paws, but continued to watch the male, waiting for it to come closer, if it would dare.

//MASHA
The brown lioness let out a snort, pausing momentarily to pull a thorn from her paw pad before stopping beside Kibwe. "I know this territory." She spat, violet eyes blazing in hate. "Many rouges roam here, and the local pride is known for cub-stealing." The adviser's ears flattened, letting out a snort of disgust. "You'll never know when those savages will attack, they're as quiet as grass." Masha mumbled, claws flexing angrily as she stared into the land that the pride was to wander across. "I'd trust nobody we meet here, not even the most helpless-looking lioness." She finished her rambling with a hiss, before starting to lay down and groom herself out of boredom, watching as Millie and Juno practiced their fighting on each other, as if training for a battle.

//FAETH
The unholy-pelted lioness was on the trail of a hare, crawling silently in the tall grasses as the hare hopped fowards, not scenting the lion behind the berries in it's mouth, a set trap by Faeth herself to catch something. She'd leap, claws outstretched as she tackled the helpless creature, ignoring its kicking at her stomach as it let out its death scream, before falling limp in her jaws. She trotted back to the pride, padding up to Kibwe. "Here. I caught you a hare." She mewed, sounding like a cub on their first hunt, exited to share with the ruler, paws kneading the grass happily. She then bounded off towards a few pridemates, laying down to chatter with them, rolling onto her back as she listened in on the conversations.

The crystal gaze of the king flickered up to the queen as she rumbled something off to one of her little followers. Something about watch the male and only do what is necessary. Which honestly could be anything at the moment. Chase the male away. Kill him. Or track down his movements to his den if he had a pride anywhere around before reporting back. Grunting softly, he turned his attention to the fiery covered maneless male when he brought his drama over to him. Great. He knew as his responsibilities was to listen to the complaints of the other males and keep them in line, but this one right here was beginning to hit a nerve. He knew the young male wasnt too far off of his own age, but he was still acting like an over reacting adolescent who would complain if he didnt get enough milk from his mothers nipple. Snorting with a shake to his regal mane to rid it of debris, he pushed his frame upwards.

Tail swishing slowly he simply gestured with his head for the younger male to follow him as he padded over to the tall dry grass. His ebonite form slipping low to the ground as he stalked in the shadows of the dry reeds closer to where the male had been before. Zeref knew the queen would not tolerate this kindof random acting without her authority, but he wanted answers now. He wouldn't wait until night fall where the male could come back with others and potentially out number them, even though he and the other males could take them down with ease. He'd prefer not to have anyone get hurt unless it was needed. Nostrils flaring, it only took him a few seconds to pick up the scent of the lone male along with the copper concoction of blood. 'So he's wounded, eh? Hmm.' Thinking to himself he continued to pad along quietly til the golden brute himself came into view. His hindquarters were gashed and his cranium cracked open. 'Run in with buffalo perhaps? Or a pride male.'

"Ajamu, go back to Kibwe this male is no real threat. Not a sound on your return, understood? Im going to track some more."

(I assume we're sticking to lioden seasons. If not i apologize.)

Corryn narrowed her eyes, the blinding sun burning slightly. Her red pelt stuck out like a sore thumb against the dry land. Since dry season had come, her blood red pelt blended in with the fiery sunset well, but during the heat of day the grass, yellow from lack of water, had contrasted her pelt like earth and sky. Needless to say, she was feeling a little grumpy at how she stood out.

She blinked slowly, the white face mask she had as a marking holding some of the heat. Unfortunately enough.

(I apologize for the short post but a friend is over and I prefer to hang out with her then spend time on the rp. ;-; sorry)

Renegade stretched and yawned, her claws leaving small, six trailing scratches along the ground. Padding into the brush, she trotted along, keeping her nostrils open. The sun burned into her scarred pelt, urging her to turn and seek the river. Bending down to lap, her ears pricked and her head swiveled to the side. Scenting a lion, but the wind making it hard to identify, she bounded forward in a neutral position, ready to greet an ally or attack an enemy.

After watching the rouge male walk past Crowflight heads under the tree so she can peacefully watch the cubs sleep after the long journey. Crowflight overhears Masha tell the queen about the territory and begins to worry about everyone's safety including the queens and cubs. After Masha leaves Crowflight walks overs to Kibwe with a powerful but caring look. "Would you care if I take the cubs and elderly somewhere safe till we know for sure the rouge isn't a threat. I would ask if you would come along but I know you have to keep yours eyes on everyone else." As Crowflight waits for Kibwe's answer she turns to see what everyone is up to, which is either resting, watching the rouge, or hunting.

The lion continued to walk, until it collapsed from its pain, and blood loss. Blu licked her chops, but remained in her position, ready to run after the meal. Her breathing, and heartrate slowed, as she knew that the lion was suffering, and wouldn't be able to cause damage to the pride. Closing her eyes a little, she was able to rest a little more, as her ears flicked towards the queen, awaiting for orders. She rolled over, exposing her bare stomach, to the warm rays of sunshine, and growled in comfort. She looked at the others, and thought of what they were thinking of in the current moment. Flipping back around, onto her stomach, she prepared herself to go after the lion, and retreave it for her pride.

Rene watched the wounded lion with a stony gaze. She let no emotions show, her tail tip still. Inhaling steadily, she looked at the queen. "Shall I end it's life?" She hissed tersely, any emotion being hidden away. She unsheathed her six claws before sheathing them again patiently.

Tersia// Mentions: Erin Only// Location: Near a large bush

Tersia's frame laid next to the large male next to her that towered over her. Her brown head was turned towards the ground when they were taking the time to rest along the area. She didn't bother to pay attention to any of the other's words besides the fact that they were settling here for a bit. After a moment or two, she flopped her scarred head upon the hairless paws among them while she closed her cloudy gaze.

Erin// Mentions: None// Location: Near his sister, and a bush

Erin had been looking around when his sister had flopped down at the order to rest. He went next to her to act as a support to her. He heard the mention of a rogue but paid little attention to it for he was protecting one other already. A large paw rested on his sister's head to show his position next to her, something he learned to do with her.

All Rene could taste was blood. She had no idea how that rouge male clawed her tongue, but it bled profoundly. Growling, she spat out the crimson liquid and it spattered on the ground, mixing with the rouge's and her own which had been spilled. She looked at the small antelope carcass she had found him with. Pleased that it would provide a decent meal for two or three lions, she licked her wounds and clenched the body in her jaws.
She maneuvered down the rocky slopes carefully, not minding the difficulty. It was easier to get a paw hold because of her six toes, hence the name Sixer. Quite honestly, she preferred the nickname. It was easier to say. Lost in thought as she almost expertly handled down the territory, she paused for a rest, neck aching from the body's weight. Finally, she heaved herself to her paws and began walking again towards camp.
Arriving with her back scorching, she laid the carcass down next to the half-eaten zebra, and padded into the shade of a nearby tree, grooming her fur slowly.

//CHUI

The rouge male let out a bored yawn, stalking across the lands. His ears perked forwards as he scanned the ground with blue eyes. He's let out a small sigh, sitting down. His tail lashed, small clouds of dirt and dust circling around him as his tail kicked them up. Suddenly, he'd hear some other lions talking, his paws carrying him to them, assuming they were other rouge males. His walk would speed up to a steady trot, eyes looking around for the source of sound. He'd suddenly stop just as he was going to crash into a blue-ish figure, which was of course, Kibwe. He'd stare at Kibwe for a second, ears flattened, backing up a few paces as he saw all of the lionesses around her.
