Calico markings female only marking or very small chance at passing to males or that males can carry it but doesn't show up on him they could come in many diferent colors and even be call feline 8 and 9. I think this would be a simple yet very cool marking to have in lioden. they look good by themselves and together. more colors with both markings put together Colors |

I actually think it would be really cool to have an intersex mutation, and male calico would be a really cool application of that. Intersex males (in this case males with XXY chromosomes instead of XY or XX as in females) can show calico because the red and black genes are both carried on the X chromosome, so normal males can only have black or red, not both. But with XXY, you can get a male calico! (for the intersex mutation, I'm thinking something like a lion in the lioness pose but with a mane; it could either be infertile, or breed like a male. I might suggest it on the Mutations forum later; I think it would be awesome. But if it were only a marking mutation (ie a male that functions normally, just has a female marking) that would be cool too.) 0 players like this post! Like? |

I love the marking idea, hate the female only/hard to pas to males idea. So I am on the fence about this. I love cailco markings on animals and Id love to have a king with these marks. plenty of male animals (including cats in rare instances) can have Calico. Some examples: fish, foxes, guinea pigs, rabbits.. many of these are domestic of course or selectively bred but it's still a coloring I'd like to appreciate on a male without it being a major pain to breed. 0 players like this post! Skyfox I understand were your coming from and this is just a suggestion so if/when this gets excepted they can take what ever they want from this. I know there are lots of male animals have these marks, but we thought females only because the lion is just a big cat, and it give a special mark for only females for the most part. I mean males have mane marks, females can carry these with no show, so it would be the same for these marks 0 players like this post! Like? |

I'd really like to see this implemented. If a male still technically has the marking (like its listed in his slots but doesn't show up on his body) that would definitely be the easiest way to breed for it. The staff have already done this for mane markings/manes on females so it shouldn't be difficult to do. Excited about layering different colors/types of calico! As far as allowing it to show up on a male, maybe there could be a very rare chance. I don't think it SHOULD be shown on males, but it'd be up to the staff I guess. Intersex lions function like a different kind of chimerism and I think the staff already said no to that one. I think it should be a raffle lioness marking! 0 players like this post! Like? |

Lynx yeah we have said that but I haven't fully updated this in a while so its not on the main post I really hope that this will one day become an official marking(s) on lioden 0 players like this post! Like? |

Female only because in cats only females are calicos. Males could carry it though but only shows on females. 0 players like this post! Like? |

No such thing as a "carrier" male. It's the orange and black or brown on two different Xes as far as I know. The few males with it are XXY, XXYY, etc It also might need a different name, as calicos are really just pied Torties 0 players like this post! Like? Edited on 13/12/16 @ 21:17:16 by Al (#101639) |

Idk of someone already suggested, but on the small chance it does pass to males. If that said male is kinged, He can’t pass that markings at all. It would just be for looks on Kings. Or being more realistic about calicos in general, any male born with the calico markings would be infertile and therefor couldn’t be kinged. As vast majority of calicos are female, and on the small chance it’s a male, it is inevitably infertile. 0 players like this post! Like? |

However this seems a little complicated coding wise. What would be really cool is a first ever marking mutation. Only passable in females and can show up in males but they can’t pass it. Kinda like a reverse primal type thing. 0 players like this post! Like? |
