Pride of the Alijiunga

For a long time, it was thought that prides were led by a single lion, or two brothers, and their subordinate males, and that the females hunted and cherished them as superiors. However, this is not true; at least, not here. Everyone within this pride is equal, some would say it would derive into chaos or that they may as well be all loners. But with the equality comes structure; everyone works together to keep each other safe. The warriors protect the pride, the guardians patrol the borders of their territory, the hunters feed the pride. They are all one and all family, treat each other as such, regardless of species. Oh, you didn't think it was all lion, did you? While all big cats are welcome, lions do make up the vast majority.

Ranks
Listed below. You may have more than one rank, as Warriors and Peacekeepers positions tend to only be part-time.

• Guardians
These felines regularly patrol the borders and the lands the pride live in. Their responsibility is to make sure there is no over-hunting, no unwanted intruders and no lurking threats, and if there are, make the pride aware.

• Warriors
When it comes to the said intruders, it is these strong, capable fighters than defend the pride and attack intruders. Thankfully, most of the time the pride is peaceful, so their position include guarding the Mothers tails from rambunctious cubs and protecting the latter from annoying short-tempered hornbills.

• Hunters
As it says in the name, the hunters provide food for the pride. They may be divided into a few groups to go off on separate hunts in order to be successful in feeding the pride.

• Mothers
Mothers are the females which raise the offspring of the pride and nurse the newborns; regardless of species. These ladies are held in high regard, having raised most of the rest of the pride, and are often sought out when in need of comfort or advice.

• Peacekeepers
It is these wise, pen over sword type-felines that keep tensions running low and relaxed. They call out those who seem to be attempting to dominate the pride, and are elected by the majority of the pride for their place. They prefer to talk out issues and find a resolution.

• Apprentices
Young felines who are not yet old enough nor experienced enough to hold responsibility of their rank and are in training for their desired position. This happens by the apprentices shadowing the felines in their desired rank and learning by observation and practice.
