In a lawless and mad world, full of magic and the impossible, people from various cultures, races and backgrounds have gathered in the ruins of a lost castle. Here, a mercenary guild has formed, dedicated to helping the weak....At a price.

The guild has just started, forming in an ancient, underground castle. People go there after hearing word of it. The RP will begin with your characters entering the castle, one by one. The creator of the guild is already there.

Coalesce yawned, the floor cold beneath them. The massive room was pitch black; No light shined in from the throne room's great and ornate windows. Which made sense. It was silly to expect sunshine to come in, when your underground. Still, the beast was a bit conflicted on how to feel, lying here alone. On one hand, the quiet was welcome. On the other hand, it was quite creepy. There was no light and no one to help if the ceiling collapsed.
They lay on their side a while, still drowsy from just waking up. With another toothy yawn, the giant stood up on all fours. They lumbered over to the nearest pillar. Even in the dark, it was easy to find the structures, thanks to the layout. Six pillars holding up the left side of the room; Six pillars holding up the right side of the room. They were all in good shape, giant claw marks aside.
Coalesce had stuffed some branches and flowers in these claw marks earlier today. They breathed on the flammable objects, until embers formed in the giant's breath and caught flame in the flowers. Satisfied, Coalesce went to the next claw mark stuffed with wood and tinder, and repeated until all of the makeshift torches were used. The flames were far too small to really light up the room, but it was enough to see now; See the broken throne in the far center of the room, the purple shiny floor and the scorch marks burned into them, the cracked, white ceiling, and the various doors that were too small for someone of their size.
Coalesce quickly became bored again. They couldn't do much, besides sleep or go outside. They didn't want to go outside, so they resigned themselves to curl up near the pieces of wood that used to be a throne, and fall asleep.

It was still not late in the day when the silver haired woman named Sariel found herself arriving at the crumbling walls of a ruined castle. It had been several days ride to get there, but if the rumors were true, it would all pay off in the end. The majority of the building seemed to have sunken deep into the earth below, or maybe it had been built there long ago? It was hard to tell. Regardless, she urged her beautiful steed forward again, steering him behind a wall of rubble before quickly dismounting.

"This is the place" she said calmly, speaking to absolutely no one but her horse. Her voice was slightly hushed as she glanced around to confirm that no one else was around, "Come on out, we haven't got all day."

Impatient as she was, Sariel immediately stepped away from the stallion, leaving him to follow as he would. As dilapidated as the building was, it was not hard to find an entrance. Only a few yards away a small crumbling archway lead to a spiraling stone staircase that lead straight into darkness. Pausing, she waited for her companion to join her as she summoned a small flame in her hand to guide their way.

((haha, sorry if this intro sucks. wasn't quite sure how to start this out!))

Artair Croft | Male | 28 Years Old | Water Kelpie

Artair was complaisant in heeding to Sariel's commands, trotting along at an unhurried pace as they neared the aging castle. He paused only momentarily as his dark blue gaze scanned the fragmented walls, head lowering slightly as weariness fatigued his limbs. Reaching the location his master had so eagerly sought hopefully meant a well deserved rest was soon to follow. He started forward again at her urging, one of his large hooves nearly slipping on a slab of loose stone before managing to right himself as he came to a halt.

Sariel's impatient tone as she commanded him to change forms had an amused nicker escaping the stallion before he let flow the magic that naturally ran through his veins. After so many days of traveling in the body of a lumbering horse it felt almost blissful as his frame re-arranged itself, bones snapping out and then back into place and buckskin coat being replaced with lightly tanned skin and cloth. There used to be a time when his horse form was his preferred appearance, but he found it more cumbersome on land than it had been in the lake and had also learned to appreciate the advantages of being a man. Thumbs were nice for example.

The transformation was over as quickly as it began, barely noticeable as more than a blur to the human eye. "How does that saying go master?" He asked smoothly. "Patience is a virtue?" He finished with a teasing lilt. Artair was quick to follow behind her as she made her way to the castle entrance, eyes narrowing slightly as he gazed down the dark hallway. "Looks inviting," he commented wryly as he awaited her next move.

Lin Xun Yang - Male - Looks 26 - Qilin

Small, cloven hooves clicked gently against the stone-ridden ground surrounding a huge building sunken halfway into the earth, a scaly body slipping quickly past the few strangers that appeared to also be making their way into the worn castle. He had no time or patience to pause and greet them, however, too focused on his own affairs to even pay attention to them. As far as he could tell as he raced past them, it had been a woman harboring a small flame in her hand, followed by a large horse - no, a man. How curious.

Considering he would inevitably be meeting them at their shared destination anyway, he didn't think any further about the peculiar pair, his dragon-like eyes "lighting" his way deep into the palace. It was shocking, how much more there was underground than above. Almost like the icebergs he'd seen north of his homeland. How the emperor would love to see such a place. Not that he expected the man to travel so far from his dynasty, just to see a crumbling building. Well, you could never tell these days.

As he arrived at the very bottom - at least, he assumed it was the bottom - of the winding stair case, Lin gazed about the purple-floored room. There was a throne tucked at the far end of it, pillars scaling high above his head, reaching a cracked stone ceiling. And at the foot of some of the pillars, a large furry mountain... What?

((sucky post, but I just woke up c':))

(DAMN, Lin has no time for shenanigans, does he XD) (And i just woke up too, so we're on the same page. But its a really good post, don't worry!)

Coalesce woke up to an unfamiliar noise; The only thing they could equate it to was bones falling onto rocks, but even that seemed inaccurate. Alarmed, the creature stood up and clumsily got to its feet. Head high in curiosity, their 4-colored eyes glimmered in the dull lighting as they gazed at whatever disturbed them.

Across the long room was a stranger; It, too, was very unfamiliar to Coalesce. It reminded them of a dragon. A foul feeling settled in their gut. Oh, of course. Dragons.

But why were they here? Was this dragon going to bully them out, make this place a lair? Or simply attack and eat them? Take their stash of food? Were dragons attracted to fire, or something? Or maybe it wanted to....

It took them a moment to realize that the stranger was likely here for the guild. They had... given up just a bit of hope after a few weeks of no responses to their posters. They were really well-made posters, too. Hard to make, with giant talons. On the bright side, ripped up paper made for good tinder.

Then it hit; there finally was a response. Someone wanted to work with them to help out all the suffering people in this land; For a price, of course. No one would do it for free, as they had previously learned.

Coalesce suddenly felt a big rush of emotions at the realization. Hope, nervousness, joy. Worry.
Still, a big grin formed on its face.

"Hiya!" It practically barked, body shaking like a leaf.

((nope, he doesn't xD And Coal is so precious <3 I love 'em))

Lin Xun Yang - Male - Looks 26 - Qilin

When the huge figure slowly, clumsily began to move, Lin stood his ground, his proud demeanor never ceasing as he watched the stranger stand itself up. He couldn't tell what it was, the flickers of flame annoyingly messing with his ability to see in the dark. Well, either way, the large being didn't seem at all hostile. It actually looked sort of like a big baby, honestly. Scared and curled up alone in a giant castle... It was almost sad.

Of course, when the creature spoke in a booming voice, Lin had to look up at the ceiling, worried it might fall. When he had affirmed that he was most likely safe, a stream of lime green fog began to tug at his body, surrounding him entirely until all that was left in his place was a pale-haired man in slate-green clothing, appearing in his mid-20's. He pressed his palm to a closed fist, bowing politely. "Ni hao," he greeted the stranger, before adding, "Hello." Being so far from his homeland, he didn't expect the people here to be able to speak his native language. He would have to break the habit of talking in it.

Coalesce took a step back, a bit surprised. Shapeshifting wasn't anything new, but the new form the creature took was as unfamiliar as its footsteps and other form. This was both a bit irritating and exciting; Coalesce liked new things, but they had also found that unfamiliar things were often the most dangerous things.

They shoved such thoughts out of their head; After all, they couldn't expect to be partners with this person if they were thinking bad of them and getting irritated about things beyond their control.

"Ni h-...hah-... ..." Coalesce tried to mimic the word, guessing that it would be polite, but their beak-muzzle couldn't form the words right.

"Hell - o." They settled.

"You are here, at castled, about the guild, yes?" They asked, best they could. They hadn't talked for so long, and their speech sounded so forced, that Coalesce considered learning sign language to get by. It couldn't be that hard to learn. Even with giant talon-paws and the near constant need to walk on all fours.

Sariel - Female - 25 - Daemonfey

A sly smirk crossed Sariel's face at Artair's comment, and she was about to respond with an equally cheeky quip, when a blur of green scales flew past her and darted down the stairs. A new, slightly more serious demeanor took hold of her now, and she slid her left hand closer to her sword.

"Looks like we have some company," she noted, unsure whether or not the creature posed a threat, "Screw the virtues, let's pick up the pace."

Sariel wasted no time starting down the spiral stair, one hand still on the hilt of her sword, the other extended in front of her lighting the way. It was eerily quiet as she continued her descent. It seemed the scaled beast had already made its way far below, and for some time the only sound to be heard was that of her own footsteps, and Artair's behind her. Upon nearing the bottom of the stair though, she heard the distant murmur of speech, or was that growling?

Cautiously she entered the grand hall and looked at the scene before her. The room was large with huge decorative windows that shone no light in the underground room. Instead, it was lit by small fires amidst the pillars that held up the high roof, and in the center of it all a man stood, speaking to some kind of enormous bear-like creature as if it were the most common thing in the world.

She brushed off the oddity of it, resolving that a man in a dress talking to some kind of owl-bear was not any weirder than a demon-elf with a kelpie servant. Sariel shrugged and motioned for Artair to follow her once more. As she neared the others a single word caught her ear and her face lit up immediately. Guild. They were in the right place.

"Yes!" Sariel responded enthusiastically, though she knew the question had not been directed at her. Oh well, had to make an entrance somehow right?

"My name is Sariel Terrona, this is my traveling companion Artair, and we're here to join the guild!" she chimed and motioned to her 'companion' as he walked up beside her.

((I'm just gonna put the approximate age she looks in the header... cause.... idk))

Artair Croft | Male | 28 Years Old | Water Kelpie

Lin's scaly form slipping passed them at a swift pace had Artair doing a double take as the Qilin seemed to melt into the darkness ahead and out of sight without a word. His head tilted slightly and he had no further wise comments to add as he and Sariel finally ventured onto the shadowy path inside and down a winding flight of stairs. As they grew closer to the castle's center make-shift torches lit their path and it wasn't long before two more shapes became visible ahead, another man with pale hair and a giant of a beast with mighty talons and a beak, the likes of which he had never witnessed before. Curious... His body language remained relaxed and unthreatening as they approached the pair, clearly not worried about any immediate threat from either creature in comparison to his formally tense companion. He allowed Sariel to do all the talking as usual, gracing Coalesce and Lin with a polite nod and friendly smile as he was introduced.

((Ahh, I'm sorry for the short response. Not feeling well today, but don't wanna leave ya'll hanging.))

Lin Xun Yang - Male - 26 - Qilin

Suppressing the faintest chuckle with the assumption that it would be rude and likely embarrass the poor beast, Lin gave an affirming nod, only to have his silent answer interrupted by one that, well, wasn't silent. He turned on his heels, surprised by the sudden voice and staring with almond-shaped, pale yellow eyes at the pair that had just arrived. Needless to say, he was a bit put off by the woman's rudeness, but one could consider it karma. After all, he had passed them without so much as a greeting when he arrived. It was only fair. Sort of.

He looked the woman, "Sariel" apparently, and the man-horse-person (he wasn't sure which) who had been introduced as "Artair" over, wondering faintly how he might manage to pronounce their names. Western names were somewhat foreign to him. And had too many vowels. "Shi, I am here to join the guild as well," he said, turning back to face the large being. "And what shall we call you, qin?"

----

I'll just put translations here c':

Shi - Yes
Qin - Dear

Coalesce started shaking even more, as if about to spontaneously explode.

"Coalesce is the name!" It said, embarrassed. It was a really, really stupid name.

They shook their head; No one cared about that, anyway.

"Greetings, Sariel Terrona, Artair, dragon-man. " It said, bowing best they could to the three strangers.

"Welcome to guild! There is an hall that way, with empty rooms, with beds. " Lifting a giant paw, they pointed to a door on the left side of the room; It was practically invisible, with the bad lighting of the castle.

"That way is broken, but leads to a hall." They explained, lifting the other paw to point at a collapsed door on the right side of the room.

"Feel free to make home here, if need." They explained, getting embarrassed at their own conditions again. "There is already a quest ready. It is very scary."

Akila || Female || Looks 23 || Nagini

Akila paused by the edge of the forest, watching as a strange scaled creature and a demon with a shape shifter entered the dark ruins. "This is for Feyell, you must do it." She whispered softly to herself, drawing her courage up. The half serpent ventured out towards the crumbling castle, her long tail moving back and forth methodically, efficiently pushing her forwards. She slunk down into the rubble, her eyes adjusting to the darkness that surrounded her. Hearing talking ahead of her, Akila listened closely and caught the names of the others. Apparently the demon was Sariel and her companion went by Artiar, but the scaled creature didn't mention its own name. She jumped when a loud, gravelly voice introduced itself as Coalesce. She listened to the large one, Coalesce, as it welcomed the others and invited them to stay.
Her scales rustled dryly as she peeked out from behind the wall, seeing a looming giant, two blond men, and a demon woman conversing in the room. The giant looked kind, almost childlike, and it immediately made her feel a bit better. The woman scared her slightly, her strange appearance a bit unnerving to Akila. She decided she would just stay away from Sariel for now. The man with platinum blond hair had an undecipherable expression on his face, but he didn't seem to be a threat at the moment. The last person, Artiar, had an kind-looking face and appeared to be completely relaxed. They were an unlikely and miss-matched group, but still intimidating. Pulling her hair over her shoulder, Akila used her fringe as a protective shield. "Hello." She said softly with her light lisp, moving out from behind the wall.

Artair Croft | Male | 28 Years Old | Water Kelpie

Though the offer of a warm bed was very tempting after how far he and Sariel had traveled to reach the abandoned castle Coalesce was an intriguing creature and his mention of a quest already awaiting their attention piqued his interest. "It's a pleasure to meet you Coalesce," he spoke up for the first time since entering the building, his voice thick with the accent of his homeland. "You as well," he added with a polite nod to Lin before his attention fell back to the feathered giant. "If I may ask, what does this quest entail? I'm sure we are all eager to know,"

A timid greeting echoing throughout the room had Artair turning in time to see a snake-woman slithering to join them. Yet another creature he had never seen before. Perhaps leaving the lake had been a good thing if only because he was now given the opportunity to meet people whom he would have never met otherwise. "Hello," he responded in kind, making way so the newcomer had more room to stand before Coalesce.

Sariel ~ Female ~ 25 ~ Daemonfey

Sariel smiled and listened for a moment as Artair finally spoke up, asking the giant creature about the mission they had already managed to acquire. Things were moving quickly here, and she suddenly felt as if a new adventure were about to unfold before her. Before she could hear what the giant had to say though, a soft voice broke the momentary quiet, alerting the group to yet another presence.

As another humanoid form slipped into view, Sariel took a moment to glance at the newcomer, only to find that she too was being observed. From the way the the half-snake glanced at her, she could tell that she must have looked rather intimidating. For a brief moment, the daemonfey glanced over herself, noting that she had not taken the time to use a glamour on herself before arriving. Sure, her small useless wings were tucked safely under her moss-green cloak and hidden from view, but her piercing red eyes and 'backwards' legs (as many a shocked commoner would refer to them) were not the easiest things to conceal.

Suddenly uncomfortable, she shot a quick glare towards the newer woman and then turned back to the rest of the group without a word, hoping to let the snake-girl know that she was not one to be trifled with. By now, Sariel was used to this kind of treatment-- strange looks, rude comments and far worse were not uncommon to her --but she never took it lightly, and today was no exception.

Lin Xun Yang - Male - 26 - Qilin

Smiling as the giant introduced himself, the thought that he hadn't done so himself not yet crossing his mind, Lin was surprised to learn that they had already gotten a job, despite the fact that they had only just come together. He was about to ask just what the 'scary' quest was when Artair did so for him, only to be interrupted by a small, lisped voice.

He turned along with the rest of the beings in the room, gazing into the darkness and making out the faint silhouette of what appeared to be a human girl. However, as she walked -- no, slithered forward, he realized that the assumption was entirely wrong. What would have been a pair of legs were she a normal human being were intead replaced with the long, bulky power half of a snake. Interesting.

He gave her the same polite bow as he had Coalesce, followed by a curt smile. "Ni hao," he greeted her, not bothering to translate. Hopefully by his tone it was obvious what the words meant.

Ni Hao - Hello
