In a lawless and mad world, full of magic and the impossible, people from various cultures, races and backgrounds have gathered in the ruins of a lost castle. Here, a mercenary guild has formed, dedicated to helping the weak....At a price.

The guild has just started, forming in an ancient, underground castle. People go there after hearing word of it. The RP will begin with your characters entering the castle, one by one. The creator of the guild is already there.

"Oh, hi!" Coalesce yipped. They were beginning to get used to all these strangers appearing from nowhere. "Nice scales!" They said, genuinely amazed by the...strange... body of the...stranger.

"You want to fight undead, as well?" It asked, before realizing that they forgot to explain the quest.

"Oh. Yes." They mumbled. "We're fighting undead."

Sariel ~ Female ~ 25 ~ Daemonfey

Silently, Sariel raised an eyebrow, 'Undead?', she thought to herself 'Can't be that bad. Just need a little bit of fire power or a lot of decapitation, right?'

Her red-ish eyes scanned the room, taking a moment to look at each person there as she wondered if anyone else had encountered this kind of foe before. Obviously she knew she had, and while she was unsure about Artair, she knew that the handsome stallion could hold his own in a skirmish. The gentle looking bear-like creature that seemed to be running the show didnt seem like it could hurt a fly, much less kill a reanimated corpse, but with those claws, the daemonfey remained unsure. And the other two? Who knew. Sariel had not really taken the time to assess either of them closely enough to be able to discern anything of importance about them or their individual skill sets. For a moment she thought about inquiring on the matter but pushed it out of her mind. The important part was the task at hand.

"Alright! Well now that it looks like we have a decent band of misfits, when do we start? And where?" Sariel directed her questions towards the creature called Coalesce, raising her hand up chest high and turning it palm upward in a short sign of inquiry.

(I'll skip the order real quick too here to jumpstart the plot some more.)

Coalesce nervously smiled, a bit confused. "Haven't we already started?" Then they jumped a little, realizing this probably sounded rude. "Er...Well, the quest is in Redrock Village, a poor town of dragon riders. Their lord was kidnapped one day, and the next day, dragons and people and animals rose from the grave. A necromancer was seen carrying their lord off into a nearby cave, so...We could go over and.... ..." Coalesce trailed off. They had no idea how to deal with a necromancer, or the undead. Can you even kill undead dragons?

"...The castle is really dusty though, and we probably have time before anything major happens...So if you want to check out the castle, i suppose you could...?" They were very uncertain about postponing the quest, but the necromancer couldn't have big plans. If they did, someone would probably stop them, eventually. But that would mean no gold or recognition for this guild, which meant they would never go anywhere. On the third hand, quests were easy to get, so being late or failing one wouldn't be an issue.

Artair Croft | Male | 28 Years Old | Water Kelpie

Even though Sariel didn't often share her personal insecurities with him Artair was fairly in-tune with his master's moods and emotions, quickly sensing her discomfort with the snake-woman. His head tilted slightly in her direction as if to question "are you alright?" without actually speaking the words. He knew unkind comments had been tossed her direction in the past, having witnessed some of it first hand and even if Akila hadn't said enough to cause any offense yet apparently her apprehensive gaze had been enough to set Sariel's temper aflame.

Lin uttered an odd greeting Artair assumed was in another language and it wasn't long before the kelpie's attention slipped back to Coalesce as their upcoming quest was revealed. Battling the undead? "What kind of undead?" He ended up inquiring. "In my experience, which is quite little to be fair, these sorts of creatures are never the same twice." This was of course often due to corpses being re-animated by dark magic. It all came down to the witch or warlock who created them.

Coalesce explained the situation a moment later and Artair's blue flecked amber eyes widened slightly in astonishment. This quest would be more dire than he expected. Human corpses had jumped to his mind at the mention of undead, not dragons. He was uncertain holding off on the quest was a good idea considering the circumstances, but exhaustion pulled at his limbs and he knew he would be no use to the company unrested. "At the least we should eat and get some sleep before setting out," he suggested. "Even if it's only for a few hours."

Akila || Female || Looks 23 || Nagini

As the giant figure muttered the word 'undead', Akila's heart suddenly froze, then began beating at an uncomfortable pace, her nerves on edge. The undead? How could she possibly go up against the undead? Its not like her venom would work, because she was fairly sure that the undead didn't have a beating heart, or at least not the ones her mother had told her stories about when she was a small child. Her breathing quickened, short puffs of air disturbing some of the dust coating the walls and floor. Maybe this wasn't the job for her, she thought for a second, then mentally slapped herself. "I will do this." She whispered so quietly to herself that she could barely hear her own voice. Straitening her posture, Akila got her heart rate under control, and evened her breaths out before asking, "Alright, so when do we leave?" She was proud of herself for saying this in a fairly steady voice that only quavered slightly at the beginning. She then ducked her head, peering out from behind her hair, embarrassed at herself for slurring the words slightly because of her fangs and forked tongue. She then nervously flicked her tongue out, tasting the air to make sure they were indeed the only ones there.

Lin Xun Yang - Male - 26 - Qilin

With their first mission being explained, Lin stood at full attention, posture straight and stiff, yet strangely fluid as well. He had an interesting way of looking untouchable and welcoming at the same time. The undead, He thought to himself, frowning a little. He himself hadn't had any encounters with such beings. It was rare to find them in his homeland; more often than not the creatures there were immortal rather than the walking dead. However, dragons were certainly a thing he had experience with. In fact, some of his blood was that of a dragon. An eastern one, yes, but a dragon no less. With that in mind, he didn't seem outwardly worried about this mission at all.

When the horse-man spoke, Lin tore his attention away from Coalesce to look at him, nodding in agreement. "Shi," he said, "It would be much easier and efficient facing an opponent on a good night's rest. Especially one so unknown as this." He spoke formally, though that was more so a result of the language barrier rather than his own choosing.

Sariel ~ Female ~ 25 ~ Daemonfey

The daemonfey was glad to see the Artair actually showed some worry for her, though she dismissed his questioning look with a small wave of her hand. She would be fine, it had just been a long day already. Turning her attention back to the conversation, she listened intently. A necromancer and undead dragons were definitely a bit more 'scary' than the simple hoard of shambling corpses she had previously imagined. They would need to prepare themselves for this, and a decent meal and a good night's sleep would be essential.

"I believe the boys are right. Let's rest for a while and then we can wake while the moon is still up and be on our way." Sariel stated, only now realizing how tired she had become after her long journey. She rubbed her shoulder with one hand, glancing over to the hall off to the side where coalesce had pointed out the available rooms. Hopefully they had been preserved a bit better than the crumbling main hall, but she didn't hold out much hope for it.

Artair Croft | Male | 28 Years Old | Water Kelpie

Artair noted Akila’s anxiety and he couldn’t say he blamed her. They had quite the quest ahead of them. "Well then, since we can agree a good rest is needed before we head out, shall we pick our rooms?" He asked everyone after an uneasy silence had begun to settle over the group. "We're lucky you know. Being the guild's first members, we get top pick of the best rooms," he added in a humorous tone before starting toward the hall Coalesce had mentioned the rooms were located in.

((This is a lame reply, but I wasn't really sure what to write. >_> Yay writer's block.))

((since silver is back, I'm gonna go ahead and post to help get things moving again. I've sat down to write a short paragraph for this twice already and never got much done... now i wrote a looooooot... whoops))

Sariel ~ Female ~ 25 ~ Daemonfey

With that, Sariel turned towards the hall of rooms, knowing that Artair would not stray too far behind. She wondered briefly if she should order the kelpie to stay with her, so she could keep a close eye on him, or if she should make a point to find a room and lock him out, ensuring there would be no attempts to take back his freedom. This thought however, was interrupted by a realization. How had the creature... Coalesce, known that there were rooms with beds down such a narrow hall? Surely the giant couldn't squeeze itself down into the narrower passages of the castle! Glancing back for the slightest moment, she raised an eyebrow, but continued down the hall, glancing in several dark rooms before she found one with ample space.

It surprised her that the rooms were in such good shape, because, despite being a bit dusty, everything seemed rather nice. The wooden bed frames still stood, unharmed by rot or moisture and the other furnishings appeared to be in rather nice condition. This particular room held one larger bed, with a small, simple canopy over the top portion. Two smaller beds were pushed against the opposite wall, though with how may rooms there were she doubted anyone else would decide to share with the demonic looking woman. A large chest sat at the end of the bed, and a small desk sat close to the door, though there was no chair to go with it.

Unceremoniously, Sariel dropped her large backpack onto the nicer bed and began the lengthy task of taking off her cloak, weapon belts and the thick hide armor. When she was finally free of her restrictive wardrobe, she was left wearing a simple tunic that fell mid thigh. Small holes cut in the back left her flightless wings room enough to move freely and she stretched them as she continued preparing for rest. Taking great care, she placed each of these items in the chest at the end of her bed. She worked fast, and once she had done this she picked back up her backpack and placed it in the chest as well, closing it tightly. Dropping herself onto the bed, she let out a quick sigh of relief to have a proper place to rest for once. Smiling, she sat herself up in the bed, leaning lazily against the pillows and headboard, watching the door. As with any other night, there would be no real sleep for Sariel, though she did usually go through the motions of laying in bed and closing her eyes. She had never really had a need for sleep, but rest? Rest was always appreciated.

Lin Xun Yang - Male - 26 - Qilin

As those around him began to disperse, off to find their selective rooms, Lin decided he might as well make his time useful and do the same. He gave a brief glance back at the few stragglers, namely the snake-woman and Coalesce, who he assumed couldn't actually fit down the tight hall that housed all of the rooms. Hopefully they would find comfort in the large space that they had all met in, for he was quite certain it was the only part of the castle that would actually be large enough to house them.

As he glided down the hall, he watched his new companions disappearing into rooms that they had apparently all chosen, not stopping until he found one at the very end of the hall, tucked a tad away from the others. Though he tended to be a relatively social being despite the language barrier he now had, he did enjoy his privacy.

The room was comfortable, though certainly a western-style. It would have to change, if they were going to be staying here awhile. He wanted some reminder of his homeland, for it being so far away he now doubted there would be much traveling back to it. At least not any time soon.

In a wave of murky green fog, his human form was soon replaced with that of the being for which he was known so well. His scales shimmered in what little light there was, a gentle glow at the tip of his horn and soon dispersing across the room, like a series of falling starts. With each part of the room they touched, it changed drastically.

The dim walls grew vibrant with ancient paintings and the rough strokes of calligraphy. The bed became more boxy in shape, the wood a reddish hue and twisting in various shapes and carvings. The floors were now covered in smooth stone, dark and reflecting all that went on above it like a pool of black water. Where candles were, there was now paper lanterns, coating the room in a gentle red light that comforted him more than anything else could.

It was only an illusion; he hadn't changed the entire room completely, and we're anything to happen to him it would certainly return back to its original shape. But despite knowing that, it felt like home. And he was grateful for it.

Artair Croft | Male | 28 Years Old | Water Kelpie

Artair kept his pace slow as he neared the tapering hallway, allowing Sariel to pass him before fully stepping inside the corridor. Blue flecked amber eyes remained on the back of her head as he followed silently through the torch lit passage. As Sariel searched for a room Artair wondered whether she would demand he remain with her or allow him his own quarters. He was uncertain which he preferred. Part of him would be relieved to have some personal space, but there was also a nagging feeling that he should be by the Daemonfey’s side at all times. It was an urging he had grown used to and no longer questioned. It only made his head hurt trying to figure out why he should he feel any sort of loyalty to a creature who technically held him captive.

Once Sariel finally came to a stop he moved to stand beside her, peering through the doorway into the rather dusty, but still well furnished room. “Not bad. I assume this is where you’ll be staying?” He inquired, his tone holding another, unasked question. ’Where do you want me to go?’

As she began to remove her cloak and weapons he took that as a sign he should probably at least keep himself busy until he had a definitive answer, daring not leave the room until she gave him the permission to do so. His gaze strayed to an old painting on the wall as she changed and he stepped closer to it, running a finger along the gritty frame and finding it had once been a brilliant golden color before being left to ruin. The painting itself pictured a young man with perhaps one of the most joyous expressions Artair had ever seen. He pondered briefly who the man might be and if he'd been important to this place once. For whatever reason it made the Kelpie feel a bit homesick.

His mind was quickly flooded with memories of a lake and the rolling green hills that had surrounded it. A soft sigh escaped him and he closed his eyes momentarily before the sound of a creaking bed signified Sariel was making herself comfortable. His body tensed slightly as he swiftly pushed the thoughts of home away. Lingering in the past wouldn't do him any good. He rarely let himself fall into such daydreams anymore and was uncertain what about this place was triggering his memory. It left him slightly discomforted and he was now beginning to regret suggesting a rest. The sooner they were out of the underground castle the better.

(On mobile so its short post timeee~)

Sariel had given a soft shrug at the first question, instantly knowing what her companion had meant. He wanted to know what she would command, but she herself still did not know. As she was changing and putting her things away she had just assumed he would wander off, or make some decision for himself but as she sat down in the bed she saw him there, just staring at a painting as he waited.

"Sorry, I should have said something sooner..." She frowned, just now realizing that he was waiting because she hadn't actually given him a direction or told him to do anything.

Finally coming upon a satisfying decision, she spoke. "You can stay wherever you want while we're here, I don't care." Sariel gave another small shrug and grinned, wondering what he would choose.

(Blah I don't have a good idea of what to do)
Selena wandered the forest somewhat aimlessly.
Her short hair stirred slightly, caught in a small breeze. It was a deep midnight black that contrasted harshly against her red eyes. The whites of them were black making them appear sunken. She scanned the sky, pausing momentarily to watch the glittering lights of a flock of birds pass overhead. A small scar trailed down her cheekbone. She had on a worn looking jacket and a a simple pack strapped to her shoulders. A bow and quiver rested across her back, and a knife hung sheathed at her belt. The sky faded for a few seconds, as if a cloud had covered the sun.
It was getting dark, perhaps the sun would set soon. She couldn't see it through the trees, but something told her night was nearing. Good. She liked it better at night. There her senses other than sight made it her advantage. Currently, she could see almost perfectly. There was no one aside from herself around, and a few small scattered animals here and there. It was calming, away from the bombardment of sights and sounds in the nearby town. But at the same time, it scared her in a way she couldn't really describe. A chill rushed through her. Why was she here? Why? She remembered coming here from the town but... As a force of habit she checked looked down at her hand. Smudged ink was scrawled across it. check your pack. She complied, crouching down and swinging it off her shoulders in a fluid motion to pull it open. Inside was quite a bit of money...yes she remembered that, it was her last payment, a water skin and a bit of dried meat, and then obviously what she'd forgotten, the poster. The poster. She unfurled it, remembering fully why she was here but not quite trusting her own memories.
She'd strayed off course only slightly, which was a stroke of luck. Suddenly the trees seemed darker and scarier, like they were crowding her in even in this open space. They seemed to go on and on, until suddenly they gave way to an open plain, with the quite obvious castle in the center. It seemed rather old and dilapidated, in fact the thing was halfway sunken into the ground. She could see the specks of light even from this far off, it had to be the right place.
It had to be.

Artair Croft | Male | 28 Years Old | Water Kelpie

"I figured it just slipped your mind and you'd get to me eventually," he replied in a lighthearted tone, giving away not a single a hint of his inner struggle. His gaze remained on the painting a few minutes longer as he tried to make up his mind about what he wanted to do. It was slightly disconcerting Sariel was allowing him to choose. For once he felt he would have preferred a more direct order. If he left to find his own room she may grow suspicious of his eagerness to leave her side. If he stayed she might assume it was only so he could be closer to his bridle, speaking of which...he was rather reluctant to let it get too far from sight or sense. Even if she kept it hidden among her things he could always still feel it's presence just out of reach. "I'm too weary to care much about where I sleep," Artair finally answered, finally glancing back at her with a lazy grin. He stepped over to one of the beds on the opposite side of the room, tapping the frame with the tip of his boot. "This'll do for now." With that said he allowed himself to gracelessly collapse on top of it, dust rising up around him from the unused blanket and sheets. He took little notice, not even bothering to change at all other than idly kicking off his shoes.

And so, this strange band slept. The moon shone down and edged across the sky setting shadows playing across the castle and eventually that cool ball of light was replaced by the blinding beauty of the sun.
