So we just had a new update with beetles.
So I have a very simple suggestion.

Maybe there could be a small larva drop chance in dung piles?
Like digging in elephant dung could result in a larva clinging to your paw OR biting your paw, whichever occurs.
Eating the lion dung could result in you spitting out a larva child or smashing it.

Support? Don't? Suggestions?

put em down there

SUGGESTIONS:
The Cheshire Cat suggests that there could be a larva drop chance in the Chimpanzee encounter in the jungle biome.
They also suggest that the fur-cleaner monkey in the jungle biome could give you the larva he picks from your fur.

Disproved by Mad Hyena

Scarlit suggests that dung beetles be more common in dung piles.
A/N: There are dung beetles in game. The heliocropis hunteri is one. The dung beetles exist, but aren't directly referred to as dung beetles.

Pandora Paradox suggests that walking into a branch [explore, I assume] could result in a larva rappelling onto your nose or chomping it.
Disproved by Berenos

DJHellHound suggests when you run into a bird and for example pounce on it you have a small chance of finding a larva in it's beak so you can choose to smash it or grasp it.
A/N - my assumption would be to have the same effect like eating it or grabbing it. smash it has a stat chance and grasping would have a 50-50 chance of grabbing or getting bitten.

Edit: There should be a rummage option to trigger the chance.

That was exactly what I was thinking- in the elephant dung, or the encounter with the chimpanzee, maybe there would be a slight chance of getting a larva?

Support! What about dung beetles having a higher chance of being found there? (or only dung beetles)

True - The chimpanzee IS eating some insects, so maybe there could be a small chance of larva there! Adding to the mian post~

Yes, I think dung beetles would be a bit more common in dung piles at least, but all beetles could appear :)

Maybe also a thing where a you walk into a branch and a baby beetle might land on your nose or bite you?

Or when the monkey cleans your fur, it could find a bug on it or something.

I think it'd be neat to have a chance of finding larvae if you choose the "Join the digging" option with the pigs rooting in the marshlands.

Yes- there are a LOT of encounters where you could technically earn larva- so maybe in the ones not directly concerning beetles or dung, there would be a lesser chance? For instance, the monkey and pigs?

Maybe a small chance with the anteater? I know it eats ants, but maybe a small chance of a baby beetle coming from the termite mound when you help the anteater dig? That one is in the temperate Savannah. (I haven't been able to get to the marshlands yet so I have no idea what can help beetle wise there)
