My bad if this has been suggested already. xD

Alas, I have gotten a bit behind on caring for my precious beetles. ;-; I lost one that had some sentimental value to me.
So, I propose that we have the option to recapture beetles like we can reclaim lionesses! Now, I'm not sure what the price would be, 200sb seems like a lot for a little beetle... However, it might be worth it for the rarer, higher statted beetles that might slip under the radar and scuttle away... so... maybe it should be around 200sb?
Pretty short post because, um... there's not much to this suggestion. xD

Edit:
A few people have pointed out that whenever you do not feed your larva for a while, they die instead of running away like the lionesses do. Maybe the flavor text could be changed to the larva running away instead of them dying? It just seems a bit unfair to me that once you lost a beetle, it's gone forever, when it isn't that way for the lions we have.

-OR-

If they did implement a "warning" system, I believe that would be sufficient, however; again, it's still a bit unfair to lose the beetle forever, even if you had sufficient enough warning. I don't know, maybe that's just me.

:D your grub has run away because it was too hungry but it hasn't gone too far, you can grab it back if you act quickly! alas you will lose 200sb in the process

maybe you'd have to offer them a bunch of shaman herbs? If they ran away because they were hungry, they'd probably only trust you if you offered them a huge pile. Maybe the rarer ones would require a decoration (a feather to play on?) or extra food?

support!
Maybe it can be something like:
your beetle crawled away, but you found it had lingered in some of your sb! using the scent from the sb, you manage to track down your beetle and bring it home!

or something like that lol

Personally, I don't think this is all that necessary, since beetles can't die due to mood; only hunger. They only need to be fed once every three days, and I wouldn't say it's particularly difficult to pop into a mound once in a while to check up on the larvae you have. There's a suggestion for messages about starving larva and such, to prevent people from forgetting.
Despite my opinion, lioness reclaiming exists, so I suppose it's only fair that beetle reclaiming would too.

I do see two issues with this suggestion, though:
- Unlike lionesses, who run away to avoid mistreatment, beetle larvae die of starvation. For your suggestion to work, either the flavor text would have to be changed, or your lion would have to be a necromancer. Granted, changing flavor text isn't particularly difficult, I'm just saying that it doesn't fit with the suggestion.
- Holding onto beetle info for reclaiming would take up server space. Lionesses have a strict limit on reclaiming, measured in server days, to avoid them endlessly taking up storage for no reason. Since beetles are meant to be a small part of the game, I'm not certain that it's reasonable to ask the admins to hold onto those beetles dead due to negligence, but that's just me.

In addition, if this were to be implemented, I'd say that the price should be lower. 200sb is how much a lioness reclaim costs, and as we've seen from today's update, beetle luxuries are significantly cheaper than lion luxuries. It'd make more sense to lower the cost of a reclaim to 50 or 100sb, imo.

Hmmm... you bring up some really good points, I never thought about them xD
Of course if they implemented the warning system to send us messages when our larvae are about to die, that would be super helpful. But like you said, since we do have lioness reclaiming, it would be fair if we could recapture the beetles too (providing, like you said, the flavor text was changed and whatnot).
Since we have the option to bring back our lionesses, it would seem a bit unfair if we couldn't bring back the beetles too :o As you said, they are a small part of the game, so it's pretty easy for me to forget about them (however that might just be my own problem xD) and accidentally lose one. At the moment it's not really fair to lose them forever if you accidentally forget to feed just one of those little beetles.
Having this possibility would really just make the game equal for everything, beetle or lion.

I support. I have never, in the entire time I've played lioden (since 2014) ever had a lion run away. However, I did nearly have beetles run away simply because they're new to me (I just came back from a break), they're not a big part of the game to me and they're just not on my mind. I personally think it would be unfair to not implement a recapture beetles mechanism. Everyone forgets once in a while!

As for the price for reclaiming, I do think 200sb is a bit steep so I agree with pendrell and suggest 50-100sb.

Sorry, no support - your larva doesnt run away if it's hunger reaches 100%, it dies. And I would rather not see that changed to "run away" - insects arent lionessess, they arent staying in your pride at will. If they had a chance to run away, they would have done that before getting hungry, just because simple minded bugs dont even need a reason to move somewhere. They're like simple livestock - if they dont have a coop to keep them in, they'd wander away very quickly.

Notifications "you have a bug that might die!" like too hungry lionessess Id appreciate, but not reclaiming. Sorry.

I would love to be able to reclaim my beetles, but like you and Mad Hyena said, a reminder PM may be sufficient

This is lioden, not Beetleden. Its a bug. If you don't check it when its a larvae, it dies. So check on it and it won't. Don't wanna feed it? Use the new beetle ager. We don't need a beetle reclaiming system. The things only 31 days to begin with.

Maybe there can be an optional beetle feeding notification system? For those of us who are forgetful but love or beetles, it'd be handy, but for people who don't want their activity feed clogged up, they could opt out of it

I don't support, because you can already buy an aging pebble for 200 SB and age your lil' friend up to where they wont die.

Support!! I lost some larvae that I spent GB on from the shop (a rare one included!) since I was super busy and forgot about them! At the very least a warning system would be nice, then I'd remember to go feed them!
