So...this is more of a forum improvement idea than an actual gameplay one (so not really sure what subcategory it should go under) It may not be well thought out, but just hear me out, so people can see it even if it does get rejected.

As commented: PLEASE give a reason for NO SUPPORT. I cannot change anything if no one tells me WHY it's not a good idea, people.

I propose a wait time in forums. It covers a broad spectrum, I know, but let me explain it.

Bumping Threads:

A 1-2 hours BETWEEN bumps on a topic by the SAME PERSON. Meaning one individual can only bump a specific topic once every 1-2 hours via the 'Bump Thread' option.

Posting Threads:

Same as with bumping. A 1-2 hour limit BETWEEN posting new threads. I've seen individual people posting thread after thread of sales, RP's, auctions, suggestions, buying things, game suggestions, all one after the other and I really think there should be a limit on the amount you can post. 1-2 hour waits for 'normal threads' (RP/sales/auctions/etc.) and maybe 1-2 DAYS between posting game suggestion threads?

These just make sense to implement to me because it would give more peoples' threads a chance to be seen instead of constantly getting them drowned by continuous bumping or posting.

As I said, not very well thought out since I just typed it up shortly, and it may seem kinda scatterbrained, but what do you guys think? Any suggestions? Please be civil with comments as well, and PM me with anything you think should be added. Thanks for reading about my little idea.

Suggested by (#57298) : Maybe a limit to the amount of posts/bumps per rollover? Maybe 2 posts in sales, 3 for rps and 10 bumps for each post?

Suggested: shorter wait times between bumps/posts

Suggested by (#12714): Limit on posts per board, but not on bumps.

This suggestion has 9 supports and 35 NO supports.

Guys, PLEASE give a reason for not supporting. I can't change the idea if I have nothing to go by.

mmm idk especially with rps and sales. You generally want people interested so if you dont have a hoard of people commenting then your post might end up buried. I've had to keep bumping an interest check and posting it everywhere because aus time is nobody else's time.
Maybe a limit to the amount of posts/bumps per rollover? Maybe 2 posts in sales, 3 for rps and 10 bumps for each post? That's the only form of improvement i can think of really

no support, it'd make sales harder for those of us who don't use the chat

@Ser Isles, I'll add it to the ideas ^^ And any comments on the posts would still bump them, so those people involved in RP's could essentially keep the hype about them going if they need to.

And @opulence, how would it make things harder?

Sorry, No support. It's already difficult to draw in new people for sales and/or RP's with everyone posting and having a time limit for when you can bumb wouldn't benefit those players, at all.

Sorry, no support. A few minutes anti-spam cooldown Id support, but several hours is too much. Many people post on forums, and topics will quickly get buried.

It's difficult for some people who have a hard enough time selling things in sales chat, especially since it goes really quickly. So bumping threads may be our only option to get people to notice if we want to sell something like say, a really big lion piece / wolf piece or an awesome YCH they want people to notice.

With RP threads or interest threads, you want people to see them and hope to get their attention. Granted I do understand if someone bumps a thread like every minute, I do dislike that. But I only bump it every day. Maybe every 2 hours depending.

Added that the wait times could be shorter. As I said, I need input to edit it to better suit people ^^

because if you bumped your topic and no one posted, you'd have to wait a couple hours just to bump again...

i don't support bump restrictions to any extent

@opulence, There needs to be SOME sort of restriction, otherwise posts will get drowned ANYWAY. Times can be argued, but there should be some sort of limit either way.

I'm not too sure about this which is why I haven't hit support or no support yet. I can understand why you and some other people would want this implemented, but I can also understand why people wouldn't want it added. My biggest issue I have is the wait between posting threads. I don't really see how it affects people if a couple threads are created right after one another because if they are making a new thread 'hopefully' it is for a different topic which means that the new thread is necessary. I haven't ever seen this happen, but that doesn't mean it happens, it just means I haven't felt the frustration of it happening so I could be a bit biased there. I can also see people getting around the limited bumping because they can continue to comment on that thread to bump it up anyway. I see many threads now with almost a page long of just "bumps" so I can only imagine what would happen if they were to limit the bump button. I do like the idea, but I won't be hitting the support button just yet because while I think it could be a great idea, I think a few more things need to be worked out first. I hope you can understand my point of view.

People would just get around the bumping limit by commenting, and I completely disagree with limiting commenting or keeping comments from bumping in any sort of way. I need to get as many people as possible to see my cub giveaway thread for newbies, and it would be very difficult if I can't constantly be bumping. For those reasons, it's a No Support from me.
