Recently, when I was discussing with some players in the chat about battle energy costs, I remembered that fleeing a fight early costs as much energy as staying in a fight all the way and getting brutally beaten. I realized that as long as the costs are the same, there's no point at all to fleeing early. But, at the same time, I doubt anyone wants losing a fight to be as punishing as winning one.

So I propose that fleeing early (before health goes to zero) should cost 2-3% energy instead of 5%, so that there is some sensibility to a tactical retreat. Otherwise, as it stands, fleeing early has no real purpose, since you might as well just camp it out and see if you can clutch a win. But it obviously shouldn't cost zero energy either. I think this is a good compromise, and gives fleeing early some more potential.

Thoughts? Support?

I think it just would be abused. I mean why loose a fight when you can flee for less? I would just always flee when my health is low and I have no chance of killing the NPC.

@Arqilis I don't see how it can be abused that much when it would still cost energy. Losing already only costs 5%, so cutting that by half isn't even saving that much energy. It's still more of a waste than just avoiding the fight altogether. Besides, if you flee all the time then you give up the possibility of pulling a win at the last second, which actually happens a lot for me.

By selecting to flee early, making it cost a little less would reward the player for conserving their strength, but would also punish them for not taking the risk of pulling through to victory. Isn't that fair?

@Arqilis You won't have to use it, but at the same time, because there's no difference, the button may as well not even exist. So tell me, why is it even there if it provides no benefit?

@Arqilis Fights don't even take that long to begin with though, like maybe a minute at most. It's just rapid button mashing in the end, so ending it faster? That's only good if you don't even have any time to play anyway.

It doesn't even take a minute unless you're laggy as all hell and your internet is slow. For me, it's less than 29 seconds.

In my oppinion it is useful. I wouldn't like to not have it. It is a matter of having a choice.

@Arqilis Well, it's sort of an illusion of choice then, since battles don't take long enough to benefit from being cut early, but the flee option punishes you just as much as losing does. Considering that I've only used the button twice total, out of probably over 4000 NPC battles, I therefore came to the conclusion that it's not very useful on its own right now, and therefore could be used to cut energy corners for some that are in a terrible one-sided fight.

I agree with Lala, tbh. I never use the button, even if I know I am going to lose, simply because I forget it's there. But if there was a benefit, even a small one, it would be more worth it.
