I'll edit this with a picture I drew not long ago. I'm still majorly confused on how the heck one colors by using layers. I tried when I was experimenting with something when I had the decor creator, then I sold the darn thing because I got frustrated :(


But maybe learning how to layer would help me with the evil white dot problem.

:o Recently I've been doing coloring over the line art, though I don't have as smooth lines as you do Square! I just do a separate layer for base colors then put it above the line art/sketch in the layer order. I lower the opacity of my brushes usually, then have the rendering touches + redefinition of lines that might have been lost or made faint by the color layer.
It is something I'm doing experimentally but it's been fun, when I have time I'll grab a picture example.

If it works, it works! Haha I find coloring under better because the lines stay sharp and it's easier. But I definitely do my paintings similar to how you described it ^^

Style experimentation is like the most fun part of art. I usually do the color UNDER the layers too but I've been having fun either doing most of it on 1 layer (that's a bit of a challenge sometimes aha) or with one base color layer and then a render/detail layer all above the line art.
