The issue I have with this base is that, while it is gorgeous and we are in need of a golden event base, this isn't a golden base. It shares far more similarities with the cream genetics than the golden.
(Because I tried to reply earlier and due lioden dying on me and losing all the links, I am just going to use a list format here)
Bases I would argue it is similar to:
Savannah (the green tinge on the back)
Supernal (using dark and light colours
Hazelnut (I would argue that ignoring the greenish back, the colour shades are very similar)
Buff (the undercoat is very similar in its form)
Cameo (the darker back and lighter coat)
Deep Fawn (same as above, but more melded)
Pecan (similar brown colour between the lighter undercoat and green back)
Sidereal (I know this isn't a cream base, but only the gem bases have these type of spots)

In comparison, here are the closest golden bases I could find to this base:
Mongoose - This base is the best example of 'green' in a golden base, however it is nothing like the rich dark tan green of the back of your base, nor the darker mix of green and brown below the green back, and while the mongoose base has a yellow undercoat, yours has a cream one.
Pearl - This is probably one of the strangest bases in the golden genetics, but even with its green tinge and lighter colours, there is still an almost fluorescent yellow colouring that places it firmly in the gold group.
Champagne - This is probably the golden base which is most similar to your suggested base, as it has a bit of a cream palette, but even then there are noticeable differences. While champagne has a resemblance to the gold genetics, due to its warm orange and brown colours, your base has a more colder palette found with a lot of the cream bases.

If you are able to remove the line art, hopefully you can see what I mean with all of these comparisons. I don't mean to criticise you of copying any of the above bases I have listed, I just want to point out that this base has almost no golden genetic features (I would argue that it doesn't have any) while having so much in common with current cream genetic bases, and so while it is beautiful and I would love for it to be an actual base, I believe that, if it was grouped sensibly, it would be in the cream group, as the inferno base shares far more similarities with the golden genetics than this base yet is in the red group.

It's okay! I made it this color because a common complaint I seem to notice with gold bases is that they're ugly. I tried to take a color from the gold bases and a color from the cream bases and try to blend it together to make it a base that everyone can love. But I can try to mess around with it in Photoshop to see if I can make it more...gold.

I'd argue that the gold group doesn't need more orange, it has enough. Orange/yellow mixes don't scream 'gold' to me, brown and yellow colours like this do. Maroon is purple and in red group, whereas ebony is purple-tinged and in black, so it doesn't have to correlate completely.
We also don't have any gorgeous event applicator goldens, but we have supernal and hallowed for cream. I definitely think golden needs a real boost after losing infernal and this base is beautiful :)

EDIT: Does it really look green? It might be my settings, but on my screen mongoose and laurel don't look green at all.

The second base definitely looks more golden, and is quite nice as well! I can now support this as a golden event base (although maybe it should be from a different event? We have 2 ice like bases coming over this year and the next in December, so maybe it could possibly be in the May event? As laurel was used to crown the victors of the Grecian games, surely it wouldn't be too much of a stretch to have the laurel base be available there as a 'prize' for the victors).

@MajestyCoal I wasn't arguing that the golden gentics don't need more variety, I was arguing that the original base shared a lot more in common with the cream group, and so it wouldn't make a lot of sense to put it in the golden group. Maroon is not purple, but rather a pink colour (made because Kitty's favourite colour is pink) and so is in the red group, while ebony is very dark and is like a warmer onyx, and so is in the black group. Similarly, the original base shares many characteristics with cream and so would more likely be classed as a cream base.
And it is easier to see these colours if you remove the line art, but mongoose is a yellowish green (not too intense) while this original base has more of a greenish and cream tinge on the back, which is more characteristic of Savannah and another cream base.
