You can raise your king's stats by doing following things:
1.Play baoball game daily.
2.Feed him food like honeycomb/egg yolk or elephant calf carcass if you wouls not own one of these two.It can give you some stats
3.Explore and level up-levelling up will give you some stats
4.You can gain stats in certain events by buying event food/amusement-For ex.February event-lovebird plumage-amusement
I hope I didn't forget any other ways of getting stats.If I will find out anything else,I will edit this comment :)

Leveling up was the problem '^'...
As in, he's too high in level without the stats to match, so he can't challenge anyone
...and i don't know how i could even afford to get honeycomb, jesus christ, 3100 for two uses?

Hey Al, if you are having trouble finding people to attack you can use the search function to find lions that are level 8 with similar stats. If you search level 8 you can see all of the level 8 males and their stats! And you can find people who you will have a fighting chance against.

And the reason that people have kings with such high stats is that they tend to stat replace their king. Meaning that they king a boy for looks and then replace him with a higher stated male that was patrolled a lot/ born with a lot of stats. It's pretty difficult, time consuming and costly, to raise your kings stats using items or leveling naturally, but it can be well worth it if you want to!
