In the December event we get a lot of "worthless" items such as the Muddy Feathers, Broken Sandals, etc. It can be rather difficult to find stinkbugs at times (especially with all the festivities, school breaks, hovering family, etc) when you're not on a lot.

I was thinking about a system set up for the event where there is a system where you could trade in some of these "worthless" items found in the encounters and Wallowing Pit for stink bugs or maybe the chance of a rare December decor.

If it ends up trading in for stink bugs, I'm not sure what the exchange rate would be. I'll take suggestions. To start off though, maybe 5-10 items for a stink bug since the items are more common than the bugs? And suggestions for the "rare decor" will also be taken.

One benefit of this is that trade of these items could improve too, just as with herbs for the other event. It would still take effort and exploring to get Stink Bugs and participating in the event, but it would at least be easier for those participating to earn Stink Bugs. Because with the holidays, it can sometimes be hard to explore all the time.
