In the snowy depths of an unknown place your character has found themselves lost and confused. They have no memory of how they got where they are. On their person they find:
-A jug of water
-A box of 12 matches
-Any empty storm lantern {Runs on gas}
-3 Granola bars
-A bottle of 15 Painkillers
-A newspaper
-A roll of bandage
-Sleeping roll

Your goal is to survive. As far as you know nobody else is living in this place. The only thing close to human you have seen are the frozen corpses of those who were here last. And they drive you to keep on living.

Eyes slowly fluttering open, the boy finds himself squinting against the bright sky as small flakes of snow cover his body. Cold and confused, he tries to move, only to find that every part of his body was stiff with pain.

Having little to no strength, little Nikolai forced his hands into the deep snow and pushed himself up. His legs were numb, but not enough to take away the pain. He sat there a while, attempting to gather his thoughts, but to no avail. Nik had always preferred being by himself, but he's never felt so afraid and alone. The only sounds he could hear were the howls of the deafening wind and his own shaky breath.

Not wanting to be buried alive, he forced himself to his feet. Stumbling around, he ended up back in the snow after tripping over something he hadn't seen. Turning around, he rummaged through the snow trying to find what had tripped him. His hands, turning numb from the cold, finally latched on to something other than what was falling from the sky. He pulled it out with a slight tug, and a cloud of light snow came in its path. Setting in his red hands was a bag. It felt slightly heavy from what he could actually feel. He wasted no time in opening it, desperate for anything that could help.

He reached in to find some basic bag items. Water, granola bars, matches, painkillers, bandages, etc. He didn't know who's items they were, but he sure didn't see anyone else around. He felt bad for taking it, but he figured it's original owner, if there even was one, was not around anymore.

He stood up again, having gained a bit more feeling in his legs. He looked around for any signs of life, but to no avail. He was truly alone, and it scared him to pieces. He stayed calm, knowing that was the logical thing to do of course.

Every direction looked the same, so he eventually just chose one. Walking in a random direction, Nik didn't know what to expect. He figured that for now, he better just get somewhere safe, and fast.

Kier| Male, 19 | Location: Unknown

Cold. It was the only physical feeling that Kier felt. The damp snow soaked into his jacket as he lie on the ground.
He groaned and sat up as best he could. The cold had numbed his body, giving him the inability to stand up quickly.

After a while of sitting in the snow and twitching his nerves to stimulate them, he was able to get up. The ground was covered in snow. It had to be somewhere up north. Trees sprawled out of the ground and rose high from where he stood. He seemed to be in a forest. Other than that he had no idea where he was or how he got here.

Kier's breath wisped around in the cold air as though it was coming from a cigar. He looked around the area and spotted a large bulky backpack sitting in the snow around where he woke up. With brisk steps Kier found himself making his way to the bag.

He had no recollection of anything. Not how he got here, where he was, or even who he used to be. All he knew was that his name was Kier and that he was 19.

He opened the bag and found many items inside. These items being one jug of water, a box of 12 matches, and storm lantern that seems to run on gasoline, three granola bars, a bottle of 15 painkillers, one newspaper, a roll of bandage, and a sleeping bag.

He huffed. The random appearance of items made him wary but it wasn't as if he had another choice was it? With a quick move of his arm, he shrugged the bag over his shoulder and headed east.

Nikolai trudged his way through the thick snow. The longer he walked, the heavier his legs seemed to become. He wasn't a very big guy, which made it all the more difficult. He couldn't continue like this. He had to find an easier way to travel. Beyond exhausted, he came to a halt. He looked around, hoping to see something different. Fortunate enough for him, he saw what looked like a clearing straight ahead.

He quickly started towards the area, walking turned to jogging, which turned to running. He soon regret that. Once in the clearing, the compact ground beneath him turned into a smooth sheet of slippery glass. Nik slid forward, eventually falling on his stomach. When he looked up, he was petrified. A frozen lake. He was on nothing but ice.

Scared to move, Nik thought that maybe he could just slide back. But when he started, he realized how sturdy the ice was. He stood up slowly and carefully, making sure to listen for any sounds of cracking. Nothing. Once on his feet, Nik looked around the clearing, or lake. Father along the frozen water, he spotted something. Squinting his eyes, he still couldn't exactly make out what it was.

Taking one careful footstep at a time, Nik headed for the figure in the distance. Even if he just found wood, he'd be fine with that. The cold was unbearable. He needed out of it quickly.

Kier| Male, 19 | Location: Unknown, Railroad Tracks?

The wind blew harshly on his cheeks, turning them bright red. He'd been walking for about what had to be 25 minutes. Soon the woods had stopped and the sky shone brightly. The sun hadn't even been halfway into the sky yet.

Luckily Kier was equipped with boots. And sturdy ones at that. Brown boots and a dark blue windbreaker. It wasn't thick but it would suffice. It had to. Atop his head was a small knit beanie and his hands were clothed with mittens. Kier closed his eyes in thought.

Where did I get all of this from?

He shook his head and continued on. Soon he had found his way to a railroad. Its tracks spread far out in two directions. He couldn't tell how far due to trees and boulders blocking his few. He shrugged. After deciding he would follow the tracks he steadied his bag onto both shoulders and kicked the excessive snow that had clumped onto his boots off. Maybe following the tracks would prove useful.

It was a long and nerve racking walk across the frozen lake. Being in the middle of the water, Nik would be a goner if the ice broke. That's all that ran through his mind. That and finding out what was going on.

From where he was, Nik was able to distinguish the figure as a small building- like structure. He wasn't sure whether or not he should be hopeful that something good may be in there, or scared that something bad may be in there. He had no idea what was happening or where everyone went.

Approaching the wooden building, Nik tensed up a bit. He made his way all the way around, checking the outside just in case. He was never a very courageous person.

Once Nik spotted the door, he slowly crept towards it, holding his bag in front of him as if it would protect him. As he reached the door, he gently placed a hand on it. Squeezing his eyes shut, he pushed the door open quickly. Peeking through one of his eyes, Nik saw the place to be almost empty. He let out a sigh of relief before stepping inside, and closing the door.

Kier| Male, 19 | Location: Heading into a cabin

Miles or so upon track seemed to have been useful after all. Of course. Kier suffered the occasional tumble every now and then from not being used to wearing big boots and having numb feet. In the distance, he spotted an older cabin. Surprisingly it didn't seem worse for wear.

Kier smiled a crooked grin and ran for the cabin. He was freezing. He was tired, And he was exhausted. A cabin was the best thing that could happen to him.

When he approached the cabin there was a sign to the left of it. The sign read "Camp Office" under that in smaller wording it said "Lake Trail Nearby". His eyebrows knitted together.

So I'm at some campground I'm guessing?

Kier tried the door. It didn't budge. He tried again. Another failed attempt. He groaned and walked around the cabin, hoping for another door. And to his luck there was! He quickly opened the door, this time succeeding. He gave a triumphant "hmph" and closed the door behind him.

The cabin was cold, but it held more warmth than outside. There was a small potbelly stove in the corner, and what seemed to be a receptionist deck at the front. There was also a small loft! It had a table and a bed.

Oh, Fate was such a sweetheart sometimes!

While looking around Kier found a bundle of firewood that was tucked underneath the stove, 5 bottles of whiskey under the desk, some sort of healing powder, and some 12 gauge Shotgun Shells under the bed.

Kier snorted. He knew what he was doing tonight. And maybe every other night.

Once inside the cramped building, Nikolai felt a bit more at ease. There was a furnace, so it was warmer than outside. There was a small shelf with a can of peaches, a package of noodles, and 44 Magnum bullets. He didn't know how long he was gonna be there, but if he was leaving, he wasn't leaving empty-handed.

He say in a corner of the small building. He tried really hard to try to remember something, anything. Where was everybody? Where was he? Was he the only person left? All these thoughts ran through his head.

His thoughts were interrupted when he noticed a frozen over fishing hole. Not seeing it before, he figured he walked right over it. Crawling over to the hole, he placed his hand on top of the ice. It was thicker than he thought it'd be, and he'd need something to break it with if he were to use it.

He rummaged through his bag, and through the building. Nothing. He'd just have to go without a fishing hole. Clearly he wouldn't be there for long. There's not enough there, plus he's in the middle of a lake. After resting for a bit, he'd have to go elsewhere.

Kier| Male, 19 | Location: Camp Office Cabin

Kier neatly placed everything into the bag on his back. He quickly ran up to the loft and checked the stability of the bed. It seemed durable though you could tell it hadn't been used in months or even longer.

While sitting everything down onto the bed noticed a huge window that overlooked a frozen lake. He could see a couple small fishing stalls and a few cabins.

Does anyone else live here?

He shook his head. For all he knew he could have lived here. Possibly bumped his head on a rock while hiking or some stupid thing like that. He'd have to give up on his identity and focus on survival. Maybe he could get to a phone. If there was any service here...

Kier took out a single bottle of whiskey as he lay on the bed. He held it up to the air, watching the sunlight from outside shine through the glass, creating a spectrum of colors on the ceiling. The brown tinted liquid swished in its bottle from his unsteady arm. He smiled and brought it down. It was his luck it hadn't expired. Though Whiskey rarely did. Unless given bad storage and improper closing.

Kier forced the lid of the bottle open and took a smell of the fermented drink. After finally deeming it safe. Kier sat back on the bed with his knees pulled up to him and took a swig.

It didn't take long for Nikolai to take his leave. The place was small and cramped. No place for someone to stay. He took the peaches and noodles, but left the bullets. He didn't have a gun, nor has he ever used one. He bundled up the best he could with what he had, before heading back outside.

The cold hit him harshly, but it wasn't nearly as bad as it was when he woke up. He didn't know where to go. He felt stranded on the frozen lake. But as he looked in the distance, Nik saw something that looked similar to the building he was currently at. Perhaps this lake was big enough to have multiple fishing huts. But if they were the same, then Nik knew he couldn't stay there either. But he knew it wouldn't hurt to stop by and see what's there.

After a rather long trek, feeling especially long to cold and exhausted Nikolai, the fishing hut had been reached. He took no time in entering the slightly warmer building. He got right down to business, searching and moving things about with his numb hands. This fishing hut was incredibly disappointing. Nothing but more bullets. It dawned on him why anyone would even need bullets in a fishing hut. He savored the warmth a bit longer before exiting the hut.

Looking around, he found himself starting across the lake at yet another fishing hut. He turned back, seeing the one he was at previously. He didn't want to end up going back to where he started. He contemplated whether it was even worth it, but decided to go, considering his options were very limited. It was about the same distance as the last one, and with every step he found himself becoming even more exhausted.

Finally reaching the hut, he entered. Each one looked identical, the only exception being the little things they held on the inside. Looking around as efficiently as possible, Nik was able to find a single arrow, and a bottle of soda. He didn't hesitate to shove the drink inside his bag. Looking at the arrow for a second, he decided to keep it on him. He didn't have a bow, but it was possibly the closest thing he had to a weapon.

Exiting the building, Nikolai felt hopeless. There seemed to be no end to this lake. He started to regret stepping onto the thick sheet of ice in the first place. But as he lifted his head, he saw what looked like it could be the edge of the lake. He blinked a few times before confirming what he saw. His luck throughout the day wasn't the best, and he could've been completely false, but it's all he had to go on. Nik, ever so reluctantly, starting making his way towards what he assumed was actual ground.

Kier| Male, 19 | Location: Camp Office Cabin

Smooth and warm. Just like whiskey should be.

Kier smirked and continued to examine the bottle. He wouldn't drink much since he'd no idea how long he'd be here and if whiskey would be his only thing to drink after a while. Kier swiped his tongue over his teeth after finishing another swallow. He gingerly sat the bottle on the bedside table and looked around. There was a furnace near the bed, perhaps not the safest. Luckily for him, the furnace had a cage. With a grunt, he walked over to his bag and began plundering through it. After about 5 minutes he pulled out a box of matches and a rolled up newspaper.

This'll do the trick!

Kier placed his hand into the furnace, checking for any dampness that might put out the fire he planned to create. Once he was sure the furnace was dry he placed the newspaper in it and lit the match. It'd run out soon but hopefully it'd be enough to warm him up before dying out.
