Per Cake's desires, I did a little test of what I think a purple base could look like. Of course, there are a lot of natural purples, but remarkably, the giant Indian squirrel has strikingly rich colouration in its fur, varying from tans to deep browns and reds which often appear a beautiful purple in the sunlight, so as Cake decided, it'd be a lovely colour for a feasible fur colour for a lion. Cake suggested "Damson" as the name for this base. So here's a mock up of it.

Now, obviously that one comes with some pretty distinct markings, because of what the squirrel's look like. Which is why I decided to make another purple base that is markingless, and just has the countershade aspect. I've decided to call it dahlia, because it reminded me of the purple dahlia flower.
EDIT:
So since I wanted to do it anyway, and feedback has led this to be a better idea, I edited dahlia a bit. I think this would need a different name, but it's a deeper purple than lilac, with softer saturation, which I think looks nice, if not so bright.

I did add some brown to this like with the damson, to help soften it a bit. If you have a name suggestion for this base, feel free to let me know!

If you like the idea of having deeper purple bases, and not just lilac, please give your support! If you have any suggestions that could improve it, let me know! And if you don't support, that's fine. But the argument against natural colours seems a bit moot with how many lovely and interesting colours we already do have for lions on this game. ;)
