:: Species ::
Vampire - Spectral Bat

:: Appearance ::
Height = 6’4”
Approximate weight = 175 lbs
Though vampires aren’t necessarily pale, Claudius himself is, since he doesn’t care much for the sunlight. He is tall and skinny, lithe in a deceptively muscled kind of way. The shape of his face is slim as well, and is quite attractive - whether you actually believe he’s attractive, or he’s insisted he is enough for you to finally just give up trying to convince him otherwise, is anyone’s guess. He sure knows how to look charming, at least, especially when he throws out a sideways grin.
His auburn hair is short and sharply-cut, and you can be sure he’ll be adjusting it every three seconds to make sure it looks perfect. His eyes are a striking ice-blue, and in winter months, his irises can almost appear to be white in the right lighting. He has a European heritage, not that he’s ever told anyone where his birthplace is located. Claudius can never be caught in regular clothes, always wearing the most formal attire he can get his hands on; stolen or put together himself, it doesn’t matter. He tries his best to look like a noble, and he does it quite well, with how polished his posture is, and his knack of looking down at everyone else. There are a few scars on his side, inevitable with his old age, but they can’t be seen under his clothing.
Claudius’s bat form, a gift from his old age, is that of a spectral bat. His wingspan reaches a wide 37 inches, with a body mass of about 7 ½ ounces. His fur is a dark brown, almost appearing to be partially gray in the darkness, and his eyes become deep pits of black. He has long, rounded ears, a large noseleaf, and enormous claw-hooks on his wings. Though he doesn’t show his teeth much in either form, they are pointed and deadly, and can cause damage to anyone who poses a threat to him.
:: Personality ::
When most people think of Claudius, heartless and sarcastic are the two first things they probably think. While both of those are indeed true about Claudius, he is also much more complex than that, even as simple and straightforward as he pretends to be.
Most of the compassion has been seared out of him over the years, but there is still a tiny side of him that cares about others - only about a handful of people, though, and most of them are dead. He will never admit that he legitimately cares about anyone, especially the rare ones that are still alive, on the chance that someone could use that against him. For the most part, he’s a sociopath, and will manipulate someone’s feelings to get what he wants, even if he considers them a friend. If there’s one thing he loves doing, it’s screwing around with others’ emotions; there is rarely a time when he isn’t toying with the people he’s speaking to in some way. He likes to accentuate others’ bad traits and make them feel horrible about themselves, simply because it’s fun to him. No one is exempt from this side of him, unfortunately, it’s just too ingrained into who he is.
‘Smooth criminal’ fits him pretty well, and that’s probably not exactly a good thing. He’s always the charmer, ready to snap out a flirty comment at whatever chance he can, like it’s his auto-pilot or something. Considering he would be in a relationship with everyone and cheat on them all at the same time, he’s ridiculously amoral. He doesn’t really care about anyone he flirts with, no matter how much it works out for him. The day he settles down with someone is the day the world is literally imploding.
When he’s not being flirty, he’s being as sarcastic as possible. Or even both, if everyone’s unlucky enough. He’s quite cynical, and doesn’t believe goodness actually exists in the world, picturing anything ‘good’ to be a lie, and just a ploy to trick the naive. At his worst, he’ll become vicious, and if there’s someone who he gets tired of, he’ll probably try to kill them. He’s exactly the kind of person who can laugh with you one second, your seemingly-greatest friend, just to rip your throat out at the next, and he doesn’t see any kind of contradiction with that. He will do exactly what he needs to to survive, even if that means paving through to safety by murdering anyone in his way.
He can have a nostalgic side, though it doesn’t show itself a lot. As someone who has lived through several human lifetimes, he tends to delve into his past on the odd occasion, thinking of the vampires he used to consider allies and friends, among other things. He doesn’t like living in the past, though, so he usually shakes himself out of it. Always the person to spend all his time in the present, he does what he wants, when he wants, even if the consequences later may be troubling. While Claudius has killed before, if he's a part of the attacks now is unknown to everyone except himself.
While Claudius understands the difference between right and wrong, he doesn’t let it affect what he does, and who he hurts. Little can make Claudius cease his attack once he’s determined, but when he does rarely back off, it can be guaranteed that it wasn’t from regret or guilt. With his snarky attitude, Claudius sometimes doesn’t understand the meaning of tact, which can lead to either him hurting someone’s feelings or make a tense situation worse. Well, he understands tact, he just really doesn’t care about putting it into use. These are parts of the reason he broke off from the vampires, since he's no longer able to work well with others. As social as he is, he prefers to be alone at the end of the day.
:: Backstory ::
When Claudius was a young vampire, not too long after the time the city of Galeladus was built, he was very much a part of the community of vampires. In fact, he was one of their strongest voices at one point, saying what needed to be said with fervor. He was always one of the most cunning vampires, and he forged strong bonds with the others of the guild. He wanted what was best for them, and he was honest and true to those who worked with him, even if that meant that humans would die to better help the vampires. Many of the humans actually died by his own hand.
But when the weredogs arrived and the battles turned more bloody than ever, the attacks on the humans ceased. Claudius, who believed that the murders were required for proper nutrition on the vampires’ part, was quite upset with this. As the years past, he got more resentful towards his comrades and began to distance himself from them, doing more of what he wanted and forcing himself to care less about what they needed. He thought they were on their path to self-destruction by not getting the blood they needed. This new attitude took a toll on him, making him uncaring towards most of those he once helped, and it reached such a peak that he ended up leaving the guild entirely.

Claudius is no longer with the guild of vampires, but he has come to be a mixture of exasperated and, a bit less than that, sickened when it comes to them. There are still a couple of them that Claudius holds a drop of respect for, but for the most part, he wants nothing to do with them, unless they step up and do what he thinks they should. As for everyone else, he hates them. Simple enough, he just really doesn't like much of anyone. So. There you go.

:: Name ::
Ninka
:: Age ::
Physical Age: 23
Real Age: 30
:: Gender ::
Female
:: Orientation ::
Heterosexual
:: Species ::
Weredog - Siberian Husky
:: Allegiance ::
Galeladus Guardian
:: Rank ::
Deputy (Co-Deputy)
:: Appearance ::
Height = 5'8"
Approximate weight = 155 lbs
Ninka is decently tall, and she can seem even taller since she never slouches and always stands up straight. Her walk is the same as her posture, speaking of confidence and self-knowledge of what she's capable of. She is pretty curvy in both build and facial structure, and would probably be considered beautiful to some, though she isn’t the type to flaunt it if someone's interested. As lithe as she is, her muscles aren’t easy to notice unless she’s wearing something with short sleeves. Her skin is medium-dark brown from her African heritage.
She has shiny, wavy black hair halfway down her back, and she would rather let it stay as is instead of tying it up or putting it into a ponytail. Her eyes are almost pure black and are large, appearing to be even bigger from her flashy eyelashes. Ninka usually wears clothes that allow free movement to defend herself, but she will wear flowing gowns for formal occasions if she needs to. She prefers to be as capable as possible though, which is why she wears more warrior-like clothes and won’t wear anything else if she can help it. There are two slim black bracelets she has, and she wears them on her wrists at all times.
In dog form, Ninka is taller than average from her long legs, reaching 24 inches, but she only weighs about 45 pounds. Her fur is thick and fluffy, with a tail as furry as a fox’s, mixing white, gray, black, and tan in typical Husky patterns. Her back and the top of her tail are mostly black, tapering off to gray and then to white on her legs and stomach. The rest of her fur is mostly white, light gray, or tan, especially around her face, and her eyes are a white, icy-blue.
:: Personality ::
Ninka is always level-headed and ready to take charge. She’s incredibly patient and rarely gets upset, whether she’s trying to teach a failing apprentice how to hunt or dealing with a snarky pack member. The only time Ninka is rude or snappish is when she has to deal with someone who has been offensive for no good reason, and she’s rude to them only to make it clear she’ll mete out punishment unless the problem is rectified peacefully.
Justice holds a special meaning to Ninka, and it will always have some part in everything she does. She can kill someone she once thought of as a friend, if they prove to be a danger to the pack as a whole. Though she will regret the action and mourn the loss of someone who was close to her, she would do it with barely any hesitance. This has caused her to become more aloof to everyone, as she has a deep fear that someday, one of the faces she loves will be the one to face her in battle. Even if it isn’t likely, as the weredogs are all loyal to one another, she doesn’t want to take that chance.
Her job, being deputy, is the most important thing in her life. She knows what’s required of her, especially now that the attacks are starting once again, and this has made her more focused and serious than ever. While she still has the occasional spout of a playful moment, for the most part, she is stoic and business-like, thinking that playing should be done only if all the problems are taken care of. And since there never ceases to be some sort of problem, she doesn’t think playing should be done very much. This doesn’t mean that she puts down those who want to relax for a bit after a hard day, it just means that she herself doesn’t want to put her guard down. Unless the person relaxing hasn’t done anything in a while, then she’ll get on their case, as her rank demands. She’s so into her work, she spends most of her time defending or helping run the pack - while others sit around and chat, she prefers to stay outside in the darkness, keen gaze watching for signs of enemies.
Locking up her emotions, whether they’re good or bad, is an unhealthy habit of hers, and she’s done it for so long it’s become too big of a habit to stop. This has led to rare moments when Ninka simply cannot handle the growing stress anymore and she snaps - Ninka is lucky that she can feel an episode coming on, that way she can get away from the rest of the pack, so as not to harm them. She usually sticks to herself for a while while this happens, going into dog form and biting anything she can get her teeth on, and she’s never hurt anyone in the meantime. She’s so good at hiding her feelings that she can appear heartless and cold, and in some cases, those who are closer to her are given a harsher treatment if she’s worried about them. She feels as though there are very few who could understand the troubles being in her position could cause.
Ninka is unendingly loyal to her alpha, friends, and pack as a whole. If her higher up or equal asks or even demands her to do something, she will do it. But that doesn’t mean she’s a blind follower, unable to make decisions for herself. If Cole or anyone else were to command her to do something bad for the pack or Galeladus, then she would speak out about it. She has her morals and she sticks to them, and they involve fairness for all; she would never punish someone who proves themselves to be innocent.
:: Backstory ::
Ninka grew up as a Galeladus weredog, and it seemed that from day one she was serious. Though she played with her siblings, she preferred to stick with the older pack members, seeing how they went about their business and how they dealt with their problems. This led to her being more wise than most kids her age, and she used this to lead her siblings, helping them develop morals. Her parents always mentioned that she would make herself into a leader, and though she enjoyed the praise, she never realized just how right they were.
When Ninka was thirteen, both of her parents were sent out to patrol some ways into the Dark Woods. It wasn’t too far in, just a routine patrol, so Ninka figured it wouldn’t take long. She didn’t bother to give them a big goodbye, and some part of her regretted that even almost two decades later. She didn’t know what happened out there, but the report that came back was loud and clear; her parents had been killed. No one knew what, or who, did it, and it had been an out-of-nowhere attack.
Ninka’s siblings were understandably brokenhearted, not that Ninka was much different. But she forced herself to have a steely core, the first time she began her bad habit of hiding her emotions. She told herself that she would be great in their stead, be as great as they always claimed her to be. With that in mind, she focused more on helping her siblings than dealing with the deaths herself. This attitude rose her to co-deputy not too long after her twentieth birthday. She’s come to terms with her parents’ deaths, just like her siblings, and she uses them as a prime example for why the entirety of Galeladus shouldn’t put their guards down when it comes to the vampires and werewolves living in the Dark Woods.
:: Views ::
Ninka really doesn't like or dislike anyone, whether they're human, weredog, werewolf, or vampire. She simply views them as either an ally or an obstacle, and this tends to dictate how she treats them outwardly. Weredogs and humans, she is usually a bit less icy towards, since they're whom she's supposed to guard, but vampires and werewolves she's more distant with, as they're likely to be enemies.

:: Name ::
Xylia
:: Age ::
Physical Age: 18
Real Age: 60
:: Gender ::
Female
:: Orientation ::
Heterosexual
:: Species ::
Vampire - Golden-Capped Fruit Bat
:: Allegiance ::
Guild of Vampires
:: Rank ::
Keeper
:: Appearance ::
Height = 5’7”
Approximate weight = 145 lbs
Average height, Xylia is tilted a bit on the heavyset side of build sizes. Because of this, she has noticeable curves, and will attempt to use them to her advantage if she feels like it. She doesn’t consider herself gorgeous or beautiful, thinking herself to be pretty at best; others can agree or disagree with that, she doesn’t really care either way. Even if she doesn’t picture herself as picture-perfect, she is confident in her looks and appearance, and won’t be put down if someone tries to insult what she looks like.
Xylia walks in a way that practically shouts ‘don’t mess with me.’ She isn’t afraid to show the cynical part of herself; when others approach her, they could be as sweet as possible and she would still send them a dark, intense glare in an attempt to get them out of her face. (This, of course, excludes Rosalie.) She has medium-long, very dark brown hair, appearing to be black in low lighting. Her critical, accessing eyes are hazel, a mix of dark brown and specks of amber and green. Her face is similar to her build, with slightly chubby cheeks that give her dimples when she throws out a genuine smile.
Her wingspan is about five feet and three inches, with her mass being a little over two pounds. She’s large in size, one of the biggest species of bat known. Xylia, like all golden-capped fruit bats, has a noticeable fluff of golden-orange fur around her neck, the most obvious feature of the fruit bat. The rest of her fur is a short dark brown, her wings being a gray-brown and matching the color of her fur. Her eyes are a chocolate-brown and her ears are small and rounded. Though she looks more innocent in her bat form, she won’t hesitate to throw her large form into someone if she’s angry with them - she may not weigh much, but with a five foot wingspan, she can cause a little damage.
:: Personality ::
Don’t expect this vampire to become your best friend who greets you with open arms. Xylia is only out to protect herself, Rosalie, and the rest of her family, and no one else adds into the equation. She doesn’t make connections, not long-lasting ones that really matter; even if she gets on even terms with someone, in her heart, she doesn’t truly get attached to them. She simply doesn’t allow herself to, and she honestly doesn’t see the point in it anyway. Why make friends with someone when they were likely to stab you right in the back later? It had been done to her before by someone she considered a great friend, and it led to her becoming a vampire. Xylia isn’t planning to make the same mistake again.
Xylia knows exactly who she is and what she wants in life, and whatever decisions she makes are final. She isn’t hesitant on nearly anything she does, and if she says something, she means it. This leads to an almost brutally honest mindset, which means that nobody should ask her questions if they’re afraid of the answer, because she’ll tell the truth even if it hurts. She speaks with confidence and doesn’t show fear or discomfort, instead using razor-tongued snarky wit to anyone who speaks down to her. Caring about others’ opinions of her isn’t something Xylia does.
As could probably be expected, Xylia’s a bit of a hothead. She will rapidly flare up in anger at the drop of a hat, especially if it involves Rosalie. Dealing with rude or incompetent people will make her incredibly vicious, and she isn’t the type to cool down quickly, instead holding grudges that can last so long the other person forgot there was even a problem between them. Instead of avoiding conflict, Xylia prefers to get right into it and snarl like a lioness throughout it all, not backing down if others put up a fight. She can be quite the handful, but if someone doesn’t bother her, she has no reason to get upset with them. The best way to avoid drama with her is simply to get out of her way when she walks by.
While it’s possible to get on decent - decent-ish - terms with her, it isn’t easy to accomplish. She isn’t a bad conversationalist and can socialize well enough, and if she isn’t mad at the person she’s talking to, it wouldn’t be so bad. But she has such a large emotional shield up that, in the long run, it would be more like hugging a cactus than becoming good friends with someone. Her distrust of others doesn’t so much come from being scared of them harming her, it comes more from her being generally cynical and believing that she herself is her own best friend, holding more support for herself than anyone else could possibly give.
The only people Xylia doesn’t view with some level of contempt or annoyance is her family. And the shining beacon among their ranks is Rosalie. Xylia may be selfish and out to complete her own end goals, but she does still hold love for her family, especially the girl. Xylia has gotten so protective of the girl that she would likely get angry at someone simply speaking to her. She’s well-aware that not everyone would be out to harm Rosalie, but she would rather be safe than sorry and just keep everyone away from her, at least until Rosalie reaches an age that allows her to take care of herself. Xylia saved Rosalie’s life once - unbeknownst to Rosalie, but still - and she would do it a hundred more times, at risk of her own self or not. Sometimes her own sudden lack of self-preservation when it comes Rosalie surprises her.
:: Backstory ::
Roughly forty years ago, Xylia was turned into a vampire by someone she thought was a friend. Though being turned into a vampire disheartened her and alienated her from everyone she knew, including her family, it didn’t take long for the strong-willed woman to turn a new leaf before the year ended. She told herself she wasn’t going to let vampirism destroy her, and she did everything she could to make sure that wouldn’t happen.
Days past, then progressed into years, and Xylia tried her best to live as normal a life as possible. Having moved to a new town, her family connections were almost severed, but even with her increasingly-distant relatives, she still attempted to be in their lives. It was difficult, as they didn’t know she was a vampire, and it took more suspicious lies than Xylia would have liked, but she was able to stay in her family’s lives, albeit remotely.
When the younger generations began to grow older, she began to pretend she was their distant cousins, among other things. This worked for decades by her using as much elaborate disguises and complex webs of lies as possible. Soon this led to her learning about Rosalie, her grand-niece. The girl had leukemia, and it pained Xylia to see her go through the troubles of it. She refused to let the girl die from the leukemia, and so she got close to the girl, getting adopted by Rosalie’s family and becoming Rosalie’s ‘sister.’ It didn’t take long for Xylia to create a plan of how to turn Rosalie into a vampire, and she put it into action as soon as Rosalie trusted her.
