It had been a long, cold winter... There was nothing to show for it, as work had been slow, and Galin had been forced to find jobs in other places. His dearly beloved sister, whom was always so sickly, needed the money he provided so she could continue to get what medicines she needed. They were expensive, for the most part, and extremely difficult to get often times. Doing what he did had earned him a dark name, though he found it quite humorous. A soft snort was given, however, as Galin moved out. He was tall, much like an elf would be, but a bit more muscled. He had dark hair, cropped close to his skull to prevent it from being pulled on in a fight. Dark emerald eyes peered from his face, and he, overall, was a rather intimidating character. Frowning a bit, though, he sighed, and moved off. SOmeone had finally come to hire his services, and it was high and time he get some real good money rolling in...

However, this one was going to take him some distance from his beloved sister, and she needed to be taken care of. Hopefully the person that he'd left her with was going to be good to her. He'd killed the last one... Shaking his head, though, he soon mounted up on his horse, and began to head towards the far west. It'd take him more towards where humans and elf kind lived, and he did not like either one.... The man, however, didn't realize that this journey would be a little different from the others.

The King's eyes narrowed at Galin as he crossed his arms, but gave a slight nod. He could see why the man would be skeptic, so he would do his best to remedy said emotion.

"Three guards have come back dead in search for it. We don't have the resources to expend any more in the guard, and our military is currently scarce, just to waste it on a crown. It is true that my guard should have kept a closer eye on it," His gaze shifted to the two men that had led the pair here. They looked away, faces reddening. "But that's in the past. News of your.. services have reached my ears, and honestly, with your attitude, you'll do what needs to get done if it comes to it. Those in my guard tend to have softer hearts."

Yenearsira shifted her weight from foot to foot nervously, ready to be out of here.

"Sure, it would put my people at ease to know you're out of our midst.. but at the same time, it could potentially clear your name if you succeed. Being under my good graces does tend to have its perks." A haughty smile spread across his face.

Suppressing an eyeroll, Yenearsira looked to Galin, curious to see what his response would be. Her lavender eyes glittered with exhaustion as she tilted her head to the side slightly, silver bangs falling over one orb. Slowly, she slipped her hands into her pockets, thankful for her trousers versus a dress.

It was clear that Galin was weighing his options. People of all sorts came to him for their needs and desires, offering him gold and silver in return for his services. The man slowly lowered his hood, and glanced towards Yene. "Do you know where your crown has been taken? Any hints and leads?" Guards having softer hearts... He'd seen them before. Something was not right about this, at all, but for the time being? With how many folks were here? He'd likely be dead if he declined... "And, if I do accept, what is it you send me with, aside from your lovely Lady here? It's not just gold I ask for on missions I take... I require you meet the demands of my supplies, as well. Certain journeys and such, like this one, can often put a strain upon the things I do," Galin then drawled.

Would this man, this king, truly be willing to do all he asked, all he required? If so, then perhaps...just perhaps, he could make this work. "I also give my clients a pretty little warning... if it is a trap, and if it is one I survive, I have a tendency to...come back and get my revenge, by any means necessary..."

The King watched Galin carefully, nodding as he lowered his hood. Well, at least he seemed a little bit more compliant now, with that being said. He listened carefully as the man spoke, nodding.

"We have a few leads, yes. We know it's been taken North. We believe in the hands of a Drow. I don't know what they would want with it, but the crown is a precious metal.. and the gem it holds could potentially hold a very powerful magic.. and in the wrong hands.. well, you know." He was cautious about speaking of the crown with Yenearsira in the room, as he'd heard the rumors. All of them had been confirmed when he saw what she was wearing, especially with the hunter green banding of leather down one of her legs. He knew those held hidden pouches of poisons and concoctions. He just wanted to be rid of her.

"You will be given whatever you need to complete your journey safely. Horses, supplies, weaponry if you need them. Yenearsira's family will provide any medicines you may need." He gave the elf a pointed look, and she bit her lower lip. "What else would you require? If you would like to request them formally, my scribe will send a list off and they will be ready by daybreak."

Yenearsira glared at the King, and then to Galin.

"Would you care to explain what makes you so special that the King is requesting your aid?" She hissed angrily. The least he could do was explain himself a little bit, if she was going to be dragged all over the continent with a complete stranger.

Galin cast a glance towards her a few moments, eyes saying it all. She needed to keep quiet here at the moment. He was busy watching this man, how he looked at them, studied them... This was some form of setup. "Then a list you shall have. I do intend to return, my good King. One way or another." With that, he moved off down the hall, not even bothering to bow or excuse himself. As far as he was concerned, he needed to bow to no one, not even a King such as he. He'd seen his guard, heard the rumors...

"Come now, Lady Yenearsira. We've a list to make and supplies to obtain. I intend to be gone by first light." A Drow, though... Now that was interesting, and if it were true? He'd have himself a bit of fun. But this... This was just to soon, to fast, and the King relying upon him was not a good sign...

Yenearsira's eyes widened at the mention of a Drow, realization dawning on her.. though a few moments late. She'd heard rumors of them, and the dark magic they had the tendency to wield.. and there was no way in hell she'd be able to help this man out, the only she skill she had was her ability to sneak around and make poisons.. and knowledge of wild herbs and plants as well. Her death seemed to flash before her eyes at this point, and she let a sigh escape her mouth.

"I do hope you return with my crown, bounty hunter. It will be in your best interest," His voice grew dark now as he waved his guards away with a flick of his hand, walking away himself after Galin walked the opposite direction.

Yenearsira glanced between the two with a couple of quick, confused blinks, but a cold shiver ran down her spine as the stranger used her name along with a title. This man seriously gave her a bad feeling.

"Yene." She snapped coldly, her arms crossing as she followed behind him quickly, flipping her bangs out of her face. "And what's your plan, Oh renown Bounty Hunter." Her voice was acidic and sarcastic, lips out in a pout. She was going to die either way, she might as well let her true emotions show.

"Galin," he corrected. "The name is Galin, and honestly? I don't have a plan...but I'm not liking this one bit. If I hadn't agreed, I'd have had an arrow in my chest before I could blink... We didn't have a choice in doing this..." Something that he himself did not like. "From how you act, you have no idea how to fight... All bark and no bite, if I'm not mistaken. You'd have tried to kill me already if you did know how to battle..."

However, he sighed, pinched the bridge of his nose, and shook his head. This was going to be quite a battle... "A Drow... Have you evre faced one?" he asked, then. "Nasty brutes... I've seen them, but they tend to leave me alone, and so I do not bother them in kind. I think they seem to understand where I come from..." There was a sort of sadness that crept into his tone, but he was quick to correct it. "Dangerous, regardless. You should never let yoru guard down around one, which is why I'm surprised that there arne't more dead bodies if they truly did try to retrieve that crown."

Galin. And interesting name. She rolled it around in her mind and around on her tongue before speaking, testing it out. It had a nice ring to it.

"Galin," Yenearsira corrected with a roll of her eyes, finally catching up to him instead of hanging a foot or so back. "I can't fight, no. I'm self taught with what I do know. My father believed it unladylike to fight, so I learned in secret." She could shoot a bow, but she didn't believe that would have any place with magical beings and sword fights, so she kept it to herself. "I can however coat your blade in fairly potent poisons, if I felt so inclined. But I don't trust you." There was nothing else she could do but speak her mind, at this point.

"The King is not a good man, so I have no doubt in my mind that this is going to be a dangerous situation, but you are correct. He would have killed you where you stood had you declined. So you might as well try to die with some dignity at this point." She sighed.

"I've never faced a Drow. Or met one. Or really spoken of them. But I've heard rumors." Yenearsira inclined her head slightly, turning her ear towards him, noticing the slight sadness, but she said nothing. This man was full of confusing tendencies.

Galin often confused himself... It was hard, some days, for him to cope with this darkness. It felt like it gnaws at his very soul, most days. "Perhaps it is better you do not trust me...." he muttered, mostly to himself. He couldn't even trust himself, unless his sister was there. She, so far, had been the only one to keep him in check. "Is there anything you want or need?" he then questioned. "If we are going to face a Drow, we'll need more than just armor. Swords and bows work only so well on these creatures, and they do not fight fairly. Perhaps, as we go along this little road, I shall teach you the swordsmanship you need to survive a battle. Just relying upon poisons and toxins will not get you far enough. Nor will your agility and speed as an elf..."

That was one thing he knew for a fact. Being half elf, he did have elvish abilities, yes, but he also had the flaws of man... Sometimes, the half breed just wished he'd die, but he always kept fighting, kept going. THere was but one reason that he did so, and that was a reason he would keep to himself...

"What are you muttering about, pretty boy?" She looked him up and down before leaning against the wall to speak. He listened to him ramble before she spoke of what she wanted. Only half listening, actually. She went over lists of things she could possibly need on this journey that would keep her at least half alive.

"I can aim decently enough with a bow and arrow. I rely on my poisons for my swordsmanship, so even if I can't get a deep cut, they'll at least come out worse off than I. I can dodge and move quickly." She spoke carefully now, turning options over in her mind. "We can go to my home and gather medicinal supplies as well as those for poisons before we leave as well, if you'll have my back." Yene gave a nod as she looked around.

"My own horse will be fine for the journey, as he is a young gelding. A pack horse would be necessary, however. Though I would appreciate the lessons in swordsmanship." The last part of her sentence was a grumble.

"Nothing to be of concern," he stated after a few moments. "But, yes... You can count on the fact that I shall have your back. I may be a bounty hunter, but I do have some morals." This was more or less to reassure himself that he hadn't yet gone crazy. "Tell me...." Galin then trailed off, after another several moments. "Have you ever heard of any other half breeds such as myself...? Not any of that mythical lore crap, mind you."

Surely he couldn't be the only one out there that had suffered this... There had to be others, a better way of doing this instead of just outright fusing, as he had, with the darkness.

"And I'll at least try to have your back, though I can't guarantee anything. If you get into trouble, I'll try my best.. but just try not to do that, okay?" Yenearsira was rambling now, but she didn't care. She moved her hand to rub the back of her neck nervously, fingers toying with the clasp on the silver necklace.

Her eyes moved to his curiously to Galin's as he began his question. His tone seemed different, as did his mood, but she didn't know if that was just her strange outlook on things. She shook her head.

"I can't say I've encountered any, not around here at least. I've led a fairly sheltered life.. and if the capital is good for one thing, it's keeping the races pure and separate." She wished she could have answered better, but that's all she knew. "But there may be some towns north that are filled with half breeds." She pointed out with a shrug.

"I see..." So much for a potential cure for this... Shoulders slumped slightly, but he soon squared himself off, and was ready to get going. "Let's get to your parents home, then, and see what it is we can't do, find, and gather. I may need my blades sharpened..." he grunted. "Don't exactly trust the humans with such a task, either..." Clumsy oafs that they were. Once upon a time, he had such a different outlook upon them, but now he did not. It was their fault he was like this, after all. It was they who had condemned him to such a life, and now? He exacted revenge in whatever ways he could get it. Didn't matter to him who it was he was killing, unless it was a child.

Yenearsira gave a small, apologetic frown.

"Sorry, Galin, I wish I could help. If you could stomach talking to him, my father may know. He is more world traveled than I, and fought in the King's war." The thought of facing her father made her cringe, but they would have to do it one way or another.

"Our house is elven run, our servants could sharpen your blades as well. If not, they would show you to a whetstone. Humans are clumsy, I do agree. I tend not to do business with them unless I'm looking for easy coin. They're quite foolish when it comes to gambling." A smirk touched her lips as she pushed off from the wall, grabbing the reins of her horse as two stablehands walked them over. She threw her legs over easily, waiting for Galin to follow suit.

"I live in the elven quarter of the city. Maybe a ten minute walk from here."

"No use in apologizing," he told her. "What is done is done. One cannot undo the past... Putting that aside, I doubt your father would want to help one such as I regardless. Most elves avoid me...or try to kill me. Whichever suits their fancy at the point in time."

Galin soon was upon his horse as well, and waited for Yese to lead on. He didn't know where it was she intended to go, or where she lived, for that matter. This was all up to her now, and wherever she led, he'd follow. Perhaps it'd be best if he did finally die on this adventure... Who would take care of my sister...? No, he couldn't die. A soft scowl appeared upon his face, and he soon threw his hood up. No... He couldn't just roll ovre and die... He was still needed.

"Follow me." She said lightly, knowing what the halfling said was true. Her father wasn't one to help anyone, though. Especially anyone that caught Yenearsira's attention, male or female. He was not a nice man, and put his status and reputation above all else.. and the elf had the tendency to test that at any chance she could get. The noble elf was not against beating Yenearsira, and it happened quite often as of late. She rubbed her arms absently as she pushed Lyari into a trot.

"You never know, with a couple of well placed threats.. those would get you some place," A smirk touched her features as she thought of her father groveling. Anymore, he was a snake. He would stay alive at any costs.

As they neared the entrance of a large, Yenearsira let out a huff. Gray brick walls towered overhead, and a silver gate opened before them. She hadn't been home in a week, and was not looking forward to the meeting they had in store.. though hopefully, the King had already sent word. Stable hands ran to collect their mounts, and Lyari greeted them with a stamp of his front hooves, an angry snort escaping his nose. He could sense his rider's tension. Sliding off of his back, she stroked his neck, absently reassuring the beast.
