It had been a long, cold winter... There was nothing to show for it, as work had been slow, and Galin had been forced to find jobs in other places. His dearly beloved sister, whom was always so sickly, needed the money he provided so she could continue to get what medicines she needed. They were expensive, for the most part, and extremely difficult to get often times. Doing what he did had earned him a dark name, though he found it quite humorous. A soft snort was given, however, as Galin moved out. He was tall, much like an elf would be, but a bit more muscled. He had dark hair, cropped close to his skull to prevent it from being pulled on in a fight. Dark emerald eyes peered from his face, and he, overall, was a rather intimidating character. Frowning a bit, though, he sighed, and moved off. SOmeone had finally come to hire his services, and it was high and time he get some real good money rolling in...

However, this one was going to take him some distance from his beloved sister, and she needed to be taken care of. Hopefully the person that he'd left her with was going to be good to her. He'd killed the last one... Shaking his head, though, he soon mounted up on his horse, and began to head towards the far west. It'd take him more towards where humans and elf kind lived, and he did not like either one.... The man, however, didn't realize that this journey would be a little different from the others.

Galin frowned at that. He watched Yene a few moments, and soon followed after her. He let his reins into the hands of a stable boy again, and waited patiently for the woman. Something was not right. She looked tense... His gaze then moved towards the home, the mansion, really. This man did not mess around, and he himself was a little nervous and tense. Being around other elves was...not a blessing. His mother had been so kind, his father gentle. How could elves be so cruel...? That was one thing he did not understand, truly.

"Well... If I must give a promise, I shall. I never threaten." The 'threats' he gave, were ninety percent of the time a promise he would carry out. Not that he'd tell Yenearsira that just yet. She hadn't earned that level of trust.

Yenearsira pulled her cloak closer around her shoulders, glancing for Galin as she began to walk towards the front of the house. Her eyes flashed slightly as she looked down at her clothes, and then made a quick motion to pin her hair back out of her face, trying to look as clean as possible. She knew she was a mess, and there was very little she could do, currently. Biting her lip, she opened the door, leaving it open for her companion to follow suit.

A tall, muscular elf was pacing the front hall, long, silver hair in a loose ponytail at his back. He wore a well fitted robe of royal blue, silver adornments decorating the back and front. A large dragon lay upon the back of it, lavender eyes blazing as his mouth hung open angrily. A crest, of sorts. As he heard the door open, his head snapped up. Fury blazed behind eyes that matched Yenearsira's, and he stormed towards her, completely ignoring Galin. As he neared, the elven woman cringed, ducking her head, but planting her feet. He raised a hand angrily, but then his eyes moved to the halfling that stood behind her. A sneer touched his lips as he moved close, grabbing Yene by her upper arm roughly, pulling him behind her.

"Yenearsira, I trusted you to keep better company. And conduct yourself.. well, in public. You have done neither." Digging his nails into her flesh, he turned to look at Galin. She gave a gasp of pain, turning her eyes to the floor, refusing to look at either of them. Her demeanor had gone from arrogant and sarcastic to completely submissive and withdrawn. Her father narrowed her eyes at Galin.

"I help you only because my King bids me to, half breed. Do not expect me to enjoy it or extend you any formal courtesy," His voice was a haughty hiss. "My servant will help you find what you need as I tend to my daughter."

"Oh no, my dear Lord... Yenearsira goes, or I stay. Take your pick, because I will not be moved. And please, let's not test my limits today, shall we? So, might I suggest removing your rather nasty grip from her arm, or I might be inclined to sever you from yours..." Galin replied darkly. "I don't play nicely, and it's a well known fact...."

He merely placed a hand upon the hilt of his blade, watching the man's gaze before him. "Besides, King's orders she go with. I'm just following them," the half breed then quipped in a much happier tone. How odd he was, but it definitely matched him, or who he'd become, anyway. "So... Shall I give you my list...? Or am I chopping the limbs off a noble who cannot realize what he has behind him..."

Her father made a noise, somewhere between a sneer and a snarl. His grip tightened, earning a yelp in response from Yenearsira. She glanced up at Galin, almost warning him not to try anything, but then to her father. His hand moved quickly to her hair, pulling it roughly and giving the half elf a smirk.

"Test your patience, half breed? I have my own skill that says you will move, as well as guards at my back. You will move, or you will be moved. I have killed for less. The girl will go, however useless she may be. But I plan to talk to her." His voice was dark, his eyes blazing. The man stood at least 6' 4", and absolutely towered above his daughter. The look he wore was a fiery confidence.

"The King has told me about yourself. Do not think you will deter me with blind threats. Give my servants your list, or begone, King's orders or not."

"As you so wish..." Galin removed his hand...turned around a few moments. After that, he simply shot around with a blinding speed, fist aimed right for the tall man's jaw. They definitely stood about eye to eye, but with that fist shot a burst of dark power... "Do not test me and what I will or will not do!!" he suddenly roared.

"Half breeds such as myself should not be trifled with! I, too, have killed for far less, and it will give me great pleasure to do the same to you! However, I stay my hand because of your daughter, and I'd rather not murder you in cold blood before her... So, shall we try this again?" he sneered himself.

There was a sort of primal energy radiating from the half breed, and his eyes, once a beautiful emerald green, seemed now so sickly and dark... Something was not quite right, and Yene would finally get to see it first hand. Not that he'd harm ahair upon her head, though.

Her father released her hair, his hand moving up as he mumbled a few, quick words. A white light pushed him backwards and away from Galin, an angry look glinting in his eyes.

"Boy, do not test me either. Do not play with elves. There is a reason this family is of noble blood." A white shape shot up his skin, emanating a soft, soothing light. It seemed to be in the shape of a dragon. He lifted a hand, the light surrounding it.

"Where Half-breed filth like you are the darkness.. a plague upon this earth.. Us purebreds are the light that slay you," He hissed angrily. "I do not know how you are still alive, looking at you, halfling. How the darkness hasn't eaten you alive.." For a second, her father looked almost concerned. His posture was ready to fight, an anger in his blood. "I have killed too many of your kind to allow you to continue on."

Yenearsira's eyes widened at both of the men as she sat on the floor, feeling completely helpless. She stared quietly to Galin as the dark color crept over his eyes, a strange energy surrounding him.. and her father. Yene knew that magic ran through her blood, but she'd never been able to manifest it.. but her father. She had never seen this before. He had defended previous Kings.. but he'd never been this angry to let this energy show.

Biting her lip, she leaped up and moved to Galin, moving to place a hand on his arm, shaking her head. He scared her in his current state.. but she was done with this. "Leave it be.. please. I know where everything we need is." She whispered.

Galin merely gave a soft growl, clearly debating on if he should kill the man right then and there. After a moment, though, his tense muscles slowly relaxed, he glancing at Yene from the corner of his eye. "...Very well. Lead me to it. I'll tell you what we need." Oh, how lucky this man was... Purebred filth like him had no place in this world, thinking they were higher and mightier than the rest of the world. At least his daughter had some compassion, something the 'Lord' here lacked.

As for the darkness...? It was something that had caught his attnetion, but the sweet whispers of the ebbing shadows kept him from even bothering to ask. For now, his hand was stayed by the Lady, and he'd follow her where she wished to go. How odd... Only his sister had ever had that kind of pull on him...

Her father growled as Yenearsira touched the halfling, but she shot a glare his way.

"Father, you will not win here. Go lick your wounds." She said, her tone almost apathetic. His eyes widened slightly, looking from his daughter to Galin, but he gave a sigh and a shrug.

"If you return here alive, halfing. You will not live to see your glory." His voice was a snarl as he pulled his sleeves down that had rolled up in the tussle, and turned his back and walked up the stares.

With a sigh of relief, she looked back to Galin, a calm look in her soft gaze. "I'm sorry.." She whispered, blinking back a tear as she straightened abruptly, walking towards a hall that led to the back. It was towards a greenhouse of sorts, with herbs and plants of all types hanging from the walls and in rows upon rows.

"Do not apologize..." he sighed. "My father showed me a long time ago what it meant to be an elf... That is not it."

However, he spoke no further on the subject. Instead, he followed after her, pausing every now and then to press his knuckles to his temple. Her father had been right about one thing. The darkness was eating away at him, if only slowly...very slowly. How he had kept his sanity for so long.... Galin shook his head, however, and soon forced it all aside, his strides growing more confident the longer he walked.

He'd kill that man later on...if it was the last thing he ever did. That brute had no right to call himself a father, or even a Lord for that matter.

Yenearsira's steps lightened as she entered the greenhouse, obviously more comfortable. Her father would never come here, and she spent most of her days at home in this vast room. She glanced back at Galin, a small smile moving to her lips. A soft breath escaped as she looked at him for a moment, tilting her head. He confused her.. but she wanted to help him. Despite his cold exterior, she felt like he cared, somewhere within. The way he tried to protect her, regardless if it were for her or because of his own morals.. at least he had them. He had a heart somewhere.

Looking away from the half-elf, she moved from plant to plant, picking leaves and pushing them into her satchel. walking to the back, there was a large table with numerous mortars. Vials lined the wall, all named accurately. She pulled a few off the shelf, pushing them into her bag as well. She turned to look back at Galin, her eyes light now.

"There are most things you can think of. If you enter the door to the left, servants should be in that room. A whetstone is there. Is there anything you could think of medicinally that would best a drow? Or help?"

Galin was silent a moment as his eyes glanced over the entire greenhouse. It reminded him so much of his mother's garden, to be honest. The man didn't answer for a few moments, just looking over the area. "...From what my encounters have been with a drow, they usually don't like to get in close combat... Your bow could help, especially if you have something that will paralyze. I'd rather not kill them if I can help it..." To him, they were probably the only creatures that could even remotely understand him.

Did the half breed have a heart in him? Somewhere, yes... It was just hidden under a shell of shadow, a shadow that refused to let go of its grip over him... "Thank you..." WIth that, he quietly moved off. The thank you he gave could easily have meant many things... What it meant, however, was yet to be seen.

Yenearsira looked his way as he thanked her, and she sighed a little, inclining her head. She didn't know what he was apologizing for, but those were the first friendly words he'd spoke to her. Her eyes moved back to the vials, reading over each vial carefully. Paralysis.. hmm..

There was one for certain she knew would paralyze, and hopefully wouldn't kill them, if that's what he wished. She wasn't a murderer, just a thief. Not once had she let blood spill by her own hands.. her companions, however, that was a different story.

Straightening up, she grabbed the vial, shoving it in her bag as she walked after Galin. Her bow and arrows lie in the room, and she'd let the armsmen sharpen her own blade.. not that she knew how to use it. Throwing a glance to him as she walked in, her mind flitted to what could possibly be the matter with him. That darkness.. wasn't normal. She had never heard of a magic so dark. Only elven magic.. and that.. was not it.

No, it was not that. What Galin carried was like a burden, though she'd not be able to see it upon his face. He was calm, compared to earlier, and just sharpened his blades himself. The others dare not do it for him, which he found to be no surprise. Instead, he did it himself, unconsciously humming a soft tune he recalled from a past he no longer truly remembered.

He didn't even seem to realize that Yene was now in the room, either. The man was off in his own world, the darkness ready to alert him at the slightest hint of danger. Thus far, there was none, which was why he was so seemingly at ease.

Yenearsira smiled as she heard him humming, deciding not to bother him as he sharpened his blade. Her eyes fell upon a tan skinned man in armor, fiddling with some arrow shafts at the back of the room.

"Kayen!" She called fondly to the man, a human, as she walked towards him. He looked up as she approached, his icy blue eyes a smile as she moved to embrace him.

"Lady Yenearsira," He nodded curtly, throwing a glance to Galin. "I've finished your new bow, as you requested. Hopefully, you won't snap this one in two. I unfortunately have errands to attend, or I'd show you how to use it, or attempt to sneak in a few moments of blade practice." His tone was teasing. "The King's guard spoke of your journey. I trust you will be in good hands?" He moved his eyes from Galin back to Yenearsira.

She nodded, reaching out to grab the bow, hanging it on her back, following suit with a beautiful leather quiver.

"I shall. Galin will take care of me. He's a good man." She looked his way. "I trust him." She said with complete certainty, though this was the first time she herself had thought this.. but somehow, it would be true, she thought.

Would it be true? Could he be trusted? Gain had given her his unspoken word through actions. Sure, he might get furious with her, raise a voice and have a nasty temper, but he'd never harm her. The man wouldn't be able to bring himself to do so, at all. For the time being, he was definitely off in his own world, even at the outburst of excitement from Yene. She seemed happy, in a sense. A lot happier than earlier with her father, anyhow.
