It had been a long, cold winter... There was nothing to show for it, as work had been slow, and Galin had been forced to find jobs in other places. His dearly beloved sister, whom was always so sickly, needed the money he provided so she could continue to get what medicines she needed. They were expensive, for the most part, and extremely difficult to get often times. Doing what he did had earned him a dark name, though he found it quite humorous. A soft snort was given, however, as Galin moved out. He was tall, much like an elf would be, but a bit more muscled. He had dark hair, cropped close to his skull to prevent it from being pulled on in a fight. Dark emerald eyes peered from his face, and he, overall, was a rather intimidating character. Frowning a bit, though, he sighed, and moved off. SOmeone had finally come to hire his services, and it was high and time he get some real good money rolling in...

However, this one was going to take him some distance from his beloved sister, and she needed to be taken care of. Hopefully the person that he'd left her with was going to be good to her. He'd killed the last one... Shaking his head, though, he soon mounted up on his horse, and began to head towards the far west. It'd take him more towards where humans and elf kind lived, and he did not like either one.... The man, however, didn't realize that this journey would be a little different from the others.

Kayen nodded at her statement, a small smile on his face. "I do hope so, young one. He's far better than your father, anyhow. Anyone would be.. just.. be careful." His tone was gentle, but stern. She looked at him and gave a quick incline of her head. He knew her better than most, him being like a brother to her. She had a tendency to get reckless.. and he had pulled her out of far more sticky situations than she liked to admit to. With a smile, she pat Kayen on the shoulder and moved to Galin, glancing quietly over his shoulder.

Yenearsira didn't plan on saying anything, though she doubted he would miss the fact that she was right behind him. She watched carefully as he sharpened his blades, and then tilted her head curiously.

"What are you humming, Galin?" Her voice was soft.

"Hm? .... Was I doing that?" Galin, had he been more in tune with his emotions, would have flushed a bright red. Alas, he did not. He merely looked a little confused. He hadn't been... But then he realized she was right, and a small frown pulled his lips down. Where... Ah, yes. He remembered now. Just vaguely.

"It was a tune my mother taught me... It's an old lullaby, one she told me she was taught from her mother, and her mother before her. It's supposed to be a song about being safe because dragons are always watching. I... I used to believe that, but no more..."

Dragons,in his mind, were not real. If he could see it? Feel it? Then it was. It all depended upon what was going on at that point in time, too.

Yenearsira nodded in response to his question, pulling up a stool to sit next to him. Crossing her leg, she pulled her own blade out of its sheath, turning it over in her hands absently.

"That's lovely, though.." She trailed off as he finished that he did not believe it. A frown touched her face as she shook her head, but she quickly replaced it with a smile. "I believe in dragons. As a child, I always used to wish that one of the great, winged beasts would come take me away.. raise me as one of their own. I even used to draw pictures of myself as a dragon!" Yenearsira laughed. The thought was childish now, but she truly believed dragons existed.

"It's a beautiful tune though, Galin." She nodded quietly, eyes moving down to stare at the blade she had pulled out. It was elven made, but a very humble blade. The handle was made from some form of smooth wood, and was wrapped in a beautiful hunter green leather that matched the satchels and wraps that adorned Yenearsira's own outfit. A single small amethyst lay in the design of the handle- at the base. The stone matched the one that lay upon the necklace that started the entire thing- It was her brother's birthstone. Wherever he was.

(... I must say, that is the best typo I have ever seen, thus far.)

"...You look upset..."

Was something the matter? He saw the way she looked at the stone in the hilt, frowned a little bit. His attention was upon the blade in a matter of moments, eyeing it and its rather simple make. His own blades were a bit more ornate, with the designs carved into hilt and blade. They had once been his father's, but, alas, they were no longer. Now they were his, and they often times felt heavy in his hands, as if they were never meant for him...but for another person. Sometimes he wished he could just throw them away.

Yenearsira blinked, looking up as he spoke. Upset?

"My apologies, then." She said with a rather forced smile, pocketing the blade once again. It wasn't something she wished to speak about, though when the time came, the matter would probably come up. It explained her father quite well. Yenearsira pulled herself to her feet rather quickly, earning a glance from Kayen in the back.

"First light is almost upon us. I trust our horses are rested, and the rest of our supplies will be ready and waiting for us on the back of a pack horse. If we want to make it to the next town, we best leave now. There are only two villages between us and the border, so those will be our last chances at sleeping in a real bed and replenishing our supplies. Each a day's ride apart." Her voice was matter of fact and analytical now as she ran possible scenarios through her head. The weather could possibly pick up and slow their travel, or there could be bandits or thieves somewhere along the way. So leaving now would be in their best interest.

He gave a nod at this, and soon sheathed his own blades. They were sharp enough, anyway, and he wasr eady to get out of here. Next time, he knew that he and her fathre would likely clash. It sounded as if he'd killed his kind before...and for sport more than anything. The young half breed sighed, and opted to leave the same way he'd come in. It was time to get going. He'd overstayed his welcome as it was.

Hell, Yenearsira had overstayed her welcome for nearly the entire time she was alive. She glanced back at Galin as she moved through the greenhouse, and then to the main corridor. Her father was leaning against the wall at the top of the staircase, a smug look on his face, silver hair loose around his back and face. It almost reached his waist.

"Do try not to die now, Yenearsira. And your companion as well. I have unfinished business with both of you." He said with a laugh, a smirk toying on his mouth. Pulling his hand back, he moved to toss an object at her, and she moved forward a step to catch it easily. He stood then, turning to walk back down the corridor and away from the main hall.

Looking down, Yenearsira opened her palm, revealing a small silver dragon on a matching chain. Its eyes were made from amethyst, and the chain was stained with spots of blood that threatened to rush. She felt her throat tighten as she threw her head up angrily to look for her father, but he was gone. Shoving the trinket into her pocket, she turned away and stormed out the front door.

Galin frowned at this. What on earth had that been about...? After a moment, he soon followed after the woman, though, keeping space just in case she did not wish company. That elvish man... he didn't like him. There was just something about him that was seriously off putting. He didn't ask, though, didn't question. Instead, he waited for the young woman upon his own steed.

Perhaps she needed time. Putting all of that aside, he had some unfinished busniess with the man, as well. He had a lot ot answer for...and this was just one such thing.

Yenearsira pulled herself onto Lyari's back, looking down to rifle through her saddlebags to make sure she had the essentials on her. She had breads on her and a skin of water, as well as a roughly drawn map that would take them to the border. Slipping the various vials from her satchel into her saddle bag, she pulled the silver chain from her pocket and wrapped it around her wrist, tying the ends carefully so it didn't slip off.

Looking back at the larger pack horse that was now tied to her saddle horn, she did a quick once over with her eyes to make sure everything was there. Glancing to Galin shortly, she nudged the gelding in the side with a spur, pulling the pins from her hair as he lurched forward into a brisk walk. She bit her lip as her silver locks fell easily over her right eye, mind wandering to the journey ahead of them.

As she got to moving, Galin followed after her. He glanced back towards the home, a snort given as he soon began to march forward. His horse did a couple of side steps, sensing his rider's annoyance and hate. Soon, however, the rather spirited stallion was moving, though. It'd be nice to get on the road again, to get to where they were planning to go.

But the more he thought about it, the more he wondered just how much of a trap this was. North... They were going beyond the borders of the kingdom. This was dangerous, as it was stepping into uncharted, unknown territory... Galin frowned, and seemed to just withdraw into himself.

As they walked farther towards the north, Yenearsira's spirits seemed to lift slightly. Away from home, on a new adventure.. There were quite a few opportunities for excitement and entertainment, without her father constantly breathing down her back to better herself or be a lady. Throwing a look back to Galin, she tilted her head. His mood seemed off, but she couldn't quite pinpoint what was the matter.

"Galin.." She trailed off, biting her lip. "How often do you travel? What is it you really do?" Better get his mind off of it than pester him about his sour mood. Besides, if she were to be traveling with him and attempting to put her life in his hands if it came to it.. why wouldn't she get to know him better?

The man was silent, a soft scowl upon his face. While he would want ot, and love to, tell her, he wouldn't. "Bounty hunting, as I told you. I'm gone from home almost all the time, unless the seasons are slow." An honest answer, really, but he did leave out a lot of the details that surrounded the whole thing. How he came to be one, why he traveled, what he did.... What he really did was take care of his sister, but only he, and a select few, knew of this. No one needed to get a hold of her and use her against him.

Ducking her head grumpily, she pursed her lips. Apparently that was a button. What was with his damned attitude? She hadn't done anything, and he was so damned bipolar in his moods.

"Fine. She said curtly, pressing her heels into Lyari's side, running a hand through her hair as she did. The bay gelding let out a small grunt and pushed himself into a trot, moving a few strides in front of Galin and out of earshot. The large packhorse strained on his rope for a split second, not understanding they were moving quicker, but then soon followed suit. Yenearsira could be stubborn, too. She didn't ask that he trust her immediately.. but she just wished he wouldn't act like he completely hated her presence.. or this would be a long journey.

It would be a long journey indeed... Galin scowled, be it to himself or at himself was unknown. Only he knew it's purpose. Instead, he followed the new pace, his own stallion following suit with ease. Did he hate her presence? No, not really... The darkness inside of him, however, was not thrilled it was somehow controlled by her. That was something that he, nor the darkness, understood.

And here Yenearsira thought she was just hated. Honestly, had she known that she had some control over whatever screwed with his moods, she would run. That much responsibility.. As of now, she would flee. Because in the wrong situation, she could also be the death of someone if she had control.

With a snort, she glanced behind at Galin, moving to pull her own cloak over her head and over her face. It was windy, but she also didn't feel like looking at him. She would be irritated all over again.. or calmed, probably. Calmed and rather mystified. Which then would result and being irritated.

It was a cycle, really.
