Long ago, people born with elemental powers were discovered among normal humans. Many people called them, "element spirits", or "spirits" for short. But when word about the spirits got to the government, leader Charr and his people decided that the spirits were threats to them, intruders in their midst. They covered up everything about the spirits to their subjects, and then started the Spirit Killings.
It was a secret war, but still a war. Many spirits died, and most of the ordinary people didn't even realise.
At last, what was left of the spirits gathered on Levee Island, and decided to form five groups, which later became kingdoms, according to element, and stay hidden until Charr is dead.
No one knows why Charr thought the spirits were a threat, as they could only do very simple things with their powers, but no one dared to ask...

The element spirits still exist, are still hidden away on Earth, despite humans killing them off. They look exactly like humans, which makes it so hard to tell them apart, except if you look deep into their eyes, you may see unsettling sparks. Also, fire spirits radiate heat.
And humans are still trying to capture them.

The element kingdoms:
Fire Kingdom- people here can control fire, heat themselves up, and can warn others
Earth Kingdom- these people control the earth, making earthquakes, and can even make volcanoes if they wanted
Air Kingdom- these people control air, can fly, and make gusts off wind
Sea Kingdom- people here can control water, make tropical storms, or even breath underwater
Mystic Kingdom- this is the most mysterious, being dragged out of their own homes into he wintry lands of Antarctica, havving Unknown powers that are powerful
Dark Spirits- these are the untamed spirits that use their powers for evil, mostly living near the Mystics, yet haven't been seen for a long time, yet able to camouflage in various ways
