If you want to keep your current king when he retires you can choose to keep his looks when you choose an heir for him. Just pick any male lion, with a mutation or stats that you like even, and when choosing him as heir tick the "keep old king's look" and ta-dah! New king that looks just like the old king and is young again.

Re-Rolling with the item and via 10 GB option "reroll instead of choosing new king" DOES age your king back to 2 years 3 months. You start at exactly same point you started when first creating your lion, with same options for looks. Rerolling basically just gives you a new starter lion, you wont be able to choose an heir if you opt to re-roll. It will be a brand new, heritageless starter lion with lowest stats and common looks.

Shad, I believe you're mistaking it with customising in oasis. That one doesnt change your lion's age, but re-rolling sure does.

I didn't mistake that-I checked on the test server and it did not de-age my lions.But it might be differing from LD :) Did you try that yourself Hyena? :) Just want to be sure.
I thought it was a bit weird that it didn't de-age my lion when I rerolled him on the test server xD

I am absolutely positive it's the way it's meant to be - but it might be glitched, re-rolling have glitched before on my experience, though in different aspects (like re-rolled lion kept the mutation of the previous king - it's not supposed to keep it; also heritage wasnt wiped while it's 100% supposed to wipe, and so forth. Re-rolling is prone to glitching.).

It's 100% supposed to de-age your king to 2 years, because it creates you an entirely new starter lion! I have re-rolled before and yes, kings start brand new, but that was a long while ago, it can be glitched and not working properly now.
I would test it on LD now but Im kinda not yet ready to part with Optimus. xD Contact one of the staff and alert them about it not working on test server - they can check it on main server and see if it's a glitch.

Yeah,I thought it could be a glitch when I checked-looks like it might be a bug! I will ask Xy to be sure :)

EDIT: After asking Xylax,it had been confirmed that the lion will de-age to 2 years just like rolling a brand new king! :)

ok so if I use the monkey business item to reroll my king he will be 2 years 3 months old thank you guys :D that's what I'd been hoping for. Didn't want to spend 10GB just to get a young rolled king, 2000 SB sounds a lot better

I believe the age is 2 years 3 months, not exactly 2 years. I dunno why admins made it the starting age for rolled kings though. xD

I think Xy said it was not a bug but it was meant to be 2 years 3 months. Something to do with giving newbies extra time to work on their lion - weird number though.
