Note: to help keep this organized, please post your characters in character sheets! Nibbler ; Outskirts of the City. Sunset. Nibbler raced into a deserted car, stuffing his exposed muzzle into the seats. He sniffed around until he got the whiff of a child's shoes, which he dragged out of the ripped leather interior. His eye sockets stared at the shoe for a moment before he sat down to catch his breath. He had found an object that smelled like a human, but where were his people? He had lost them last night. They were a small family- an adult female human and her two young pups. The people were weird and different, but they took good care of his mother and brothers and sisters. They always shared their small amount of food and bedding. They called him "Nibbler," because even though he'd try to take things from the children gently it was hard for him to figure out to do that with exposed bone instead of a regular mouth with lips. Nibbler's mother seemed to trust them even as she didn't tend to trust other humans. She had apparently used to belong to an inner city gang, but was chased out when she did not deliver very strong puppies. Nib couldn't remember a second of it. Only his mother seemed overly cautious of human love and touch, always keeping an eye on the tall buildings on the horizon. She worried she may one day see the other dogs again. She was right to worry. It was because of the inner city dogs that they all got separated. One night, the border patrols went farther out of the city and discovered their little hideout. Everyone ran. The only thing he could remember was his mom told him to run as fast as he could, and he obeyed her. He didn't see what happened to anyone. He only could recall the cold, lonely darkness. And a small splattering of blood on one flank that he had long since cleaned up. He heard barking and growling but instead ran until the sky was a gory red instead of a deep blue. It was getting chilly out. Nib whined, lying down and pressing his skull into the end of the child's shoe. The car was highly visible and open, but not a very safe place to hide currently. Nib didn't care. He felt himself drifting off to sleep, and he didn't know enough to hide himself from the dogs that lurked around the dark city. He figured if someone found him, he'd run again. 0 players like this post! Like? Edited on 16/03/17 @ 17:30:40 by SarielsWings (#98511) |

Akuji; Outskirts of the city. Sunset Akuji swung his three heads around in different directions, looking for a meal to satisfy them. The chain around it's combined necks rattled ominously in the silence, as claws clicked against the hard ground. They knew longer remembered the past, the humans who raised them were forgotten; only figments that passed through their dreams on occasion. The left head lowered it's muzzle, grabbing the end of the rusted chain to chew. This action sparked a domino effect as the right head grew envious and reached across their chest to grab, the remaining part. The middle head stared down in annoyance but otherwise ignored them and forced their legs forward sniffing the air occasionally. Faint human scents lingered, mixed with that of canines similar and different from them. Odd...The question on all three minds though was friend or foe, hackles raised automatically ready for a fight from any canine that dared cross them. Chain forgotten for now Akuji opened his outer most head's mouths, as they turned side to side snarling and growling lowly in warning. They wondered if maybe acting this way, was why they'd yet to make a friend, but no that did not sound right so it must be wrong and not worth further thought. Lowering his center head he sniffed along the ground, walking in a zig-zag motion pace picking up to a steady trot; hanging chain scrapped along the ground. 0 players like this post! Like? |

Kelpie ; Outskirts of the city. Sunset. Kelpie shivered, it's becoming night soon and she'll have to get back to Loch Ness. Her right head surveyed the area. Her grandmother had once told her that a long time ago, a dog's life ago, that the city was a wonderful place. That people laughed and fed dogs scraps of food. That sounds like such a long time ago, the city is nothing like that. She wasn't sure of what her grandmother had exactly said.. she was so young. Just a small puppy. Her grandmother soon died after by the claws of something even the fastest dog couldn't escape. Old age. No beasts, no monsters and no humans. Her grandmother died a peaceful death. A normal death. Sometimes she wished she could just get crushed by a rusty car, it'll be so much easier then having to escape from mutated creatures. Some of them were so disfigured that she couldn't tell what they were before. She bowed her head. No time to think about that, she was searching for food. After some digging she managed to find a piece of meat, it was expired by four days. She sighed. She was malnourished and dehydrated. Most of the water was covered in corpses and waste. The sewage had mixed in with the water too.. she'll have to move. Maybe, with luck, she'll find a nice lake. Kelpie returned to her small make-shift den. Loch Ness was slightly better then her, he had found some human survivors to keep care of him but they were killed by a large hairy beast. That's what he described anyway. The pup's left head opened its eyes. It groaned and woke up his other heads. "Come on, let's go," Kelpie whispered quietly, you never know who else could be listening. "But.. we just got here," The pup squeaked and rubbed its tired eyes. "I know.. but they might find us again. You remember the flashing lights and howls of the other caged dogs. Let's keep moving, this place has no food anyway," She hissed, just thinking about those humans made her want to shift her tail between her legs. "Okay but.. what if they find us in our new spot?" Loch Ness whimpered, curling up even more. "Then we just keep moving until we find a even better spot. Come on, one day we might find some food.. and a refreshing lake. It'll be so great." The pup wriggled around and stood up. He trembled from the cold breeze. 0 players like this post! Like? |

Linna; Outskirts of the city. Sunset. Linna ran through the streets, avoiding glass and rumble as she had been for.... she didn't know how long. Her body ached and stung from multiple wounds slashed and ripped across her body, but she didn't slow, and barely tired. Her skinless skull cut through the air, the tainted wind of the city tickling her nose and ruffling her pale golden fur. The large purple/blue dots of dye were still bright and vibrant where one of her old gang members had drawn them. She wasn't exiled from her gang, oh no, that was arguably better than what had happened. Her gang had fought a rival gang recently. It was fairly normal in the beginning of the battle, they might have even been winning, when the opposing gang brought in reinforcements. There was already enough fighters to face her gang, the added dogs and people were just... a way to make sure, Linna guessed. The dogs were vicious, tearing and snapping for throats and the tendons on the back of their opponents leg. They were seeking to kill. And they were succeeding. Linna had fought fiercely, but she wasn't enough. She could have only fought for herself. As the numbers of her gang dwindled, Linna realized what was happening. With a heavy heart, Linna had turned and fled, leaving her friends and family, dead or alive, in the dust and rumble. That was two days ago, and Linna had run essentially non-stop since then, only pausing briefly to catch her breath, quickly gulp down a scrap of food, or lap water from a puddle. Now, Linna finally came to a stop, her bright pink tongue lolling out of her bony mouth as she panted for breath. The setting sun turned her golden fur a warm orange, and painted her exposed skull a pale gold, like her fur normally was. When her breath finally returned to her, Linna looked around. The surrounding city was considerably smaller, probably getting closer to the outskirts of the city, if she wasn't there already. Linna had never been that far. Or away from her gang for this long. Pushing down a whine and the depressed cloud of guilt and sorrow in her mind, Linna fired herself to look closer at her surroundings. Piles of rubble was stacked up here and there, sometimes even with cardboard and sheet metal covering part of it. Possibly an abandoned den? She lowered her bony muzzle to the ground and sniffed, trying to scent if anything was here. Dog. She could clearly scent dog from one of the makeshift dens, although she couldn't tell which den or what breed of dog. Could it be Adir? Had he escaped too? Fond memories of Linna playing chase and laying down to sleep near fires with the brown Skully flash in her mind. She hadn't seen him on the...on the ground when she had fled. Although, she hadn't seen him fighting either. Maybe he'd fled, like her? Linna clipped her only jaws together, creating an ominous bony snapping sound. It was a way of communication for Skullys in her gang, and was generally difficult for other breeds to imitate or understand. Adir and her would often insult other dogs in this language around other Skullys to get a laugh out of them. Pacing in a circle, Linna snapped twice quickly, then three times slowly, repeatedly saying the same thing. "Who are you? Who are you?" 0 players like this post! Like? |

Kelpie ; Outskirts of the city. Sunset. The three headed dog frowned. Behind her, Loch Ness was curled up against her leg. They found a large beast, probably killed by a even larger beast, and had eaten well for the first time in days. Nearby, they heard a clicking sound. Loch Ness tipped his head. "What's that noise?" He asked, still sleepy. "Hrm?" Kelpie tried to locate the noise. It sounded like it was a safe distance away. "Sounds... sounds like a skully. I heard them make that noise before," Kelpie murmured. "Should we move?" Loch Ness asked. He was still a puppy, such a shame that's he is starving on the streets. If he was not so thin, he would've made a handsome dog. They moved towards their house. The clicking had stopped by now but still... another dog? A dog who wasn't trying to kill them would be nice though. They haven't seen dogs.. for such a long time. It would be wonderful to find a friend. Kelpie quietly slipped into the shadows of the withered trees. This path curved around the back of the den. She sniffed the air. Another dog was nearby! The three headed dog shifted herself so she could be seen. 0 players like this post! Like? |

Marble ; Outskirts of the City. Sunset. She was so tired. So tired, her paws hurt so much but she must move on. The little Ceberus pup was away since the sunrise , up to find her mom. Sadly, Marble couldn't find her. But she must find her! Her Mom was missing for six days now, gone to find some food. Marble was thinking about her words "Don't go out side until I'm Back!" This was the last words which she heard from her mom , before these goes to the hunt for the food. And the little golden pup remainend behind in the little cave under some mossy stones. Just, Marble was so hungry and missed her mom so much, she was the only one which she hase... A little growl cames over her lips, hoping for a sign. As it gaves no sign, growls she louder. More sad. Then waited she some minutes, but also, no Sign... Sad. Forced from her tired and pained paws, must she make a break, take a sit under a nearby shrub and take some big breaths. 0 players like this post! Like? Linna; Outskirts of the city. Sunset Eventually, Linna stopped snapping. Maybe she had been wrong, since nothing was responding. She lowered her snout again, checking once more for the scent of dog. Like last time, the scent was there, and stronger this time. It was clearly not a Skully, but she still had trouble identifying it. Cerberus? Well, then wasn't Adir, and that would explain why the dog didn't respond. Linna glimpsed something out of the corner of her eye, the shadows moving? She turned to face the movement quickly, the sunlight glinting off her fur. Before her eyes stood a dappled grey Cerberus, partially enveloped in the shadows of dead trees and buildings. This must have been the dog she had scented! Finally, someone else on these desolate streets! The dog didn't seem hostile, which was good, at the moment they seemed....wary. One of the first things Linna noticed about the other was their lack of body paint. Why weren't they painted? Maybe their gang had been destroyed, like hers, and their paint had washed off. Linna resisted a shudder. She hoped hers never washed off. She didn't want to forget her gang. Linna shook violently, as if she was trying to dry herself after a rainstorm, to shake the depressing thought off. "Hi!" Linna says happily, taking a step toward the Cerberus. Her blue body paint turned a deep midnight color in the shadows. Suddenly, Linna was at a loss for what to say next. "I'm Linna, who are you?" 0 players like this post! Like? Kelpie ; Outskirts of city. Sunset. Kelpie tilted her head. A skully! A friendly skully! "Oh, hi.. my name is Kelpie," The Cerberus crept a little closer and moved her head closer to the stranger's tail. A traditional greeting for dogs. Slowly, Kelpie's tail began to wag. She studied the skully, it seems to be covered in blue body paint. How strange! Behind her, Loch Ness bounced a little closer too. The puppy has never seen a skully before and stood closer to sniff it. Suddenly, a memory hit Kelpie. A memory she didn't want to remember. Kelpie panted. Her chasers were close.. she could smell their scent everywhere. Bright painted colours. Angry howls. She ran. She ran faster then she's ever ran, she ran knowing that this time she may not escape with her life. She dared not turn back and she sprinted faster if that was possible. How she accidentally ended so close to two gangs, she didn't know. She was following the scent trail of fresh food. Fresh food that the gang owned. Her paw pads were bleeding from running on the rough rocks. Yanking her head away from the painful memory, Kelpie snarled at this gang dog. Loch Ness shrank away and hid behind her. He knew the dangers of the humans and those dogs. He's been there. Kelpie's left head muttered a "Run!" And so Loch Ness ran and jumped up a tree. Not exactly jumped. He sprinted on to a large rock and crawled onto the slightly tilted tree. The roots weren't doing very well, but it was fairly safe. Loch Ness ; Outskirts of city. Sunset. He waited on the tree, covered in brown leaves. He couldn't hear them, see them or smell them. The rotten leaves fluttered in the wind, the mushiness of the leaves made him gag. Especially the fruit that had slided down the tree. It was all so disgusting but Kelpie told him to stay. "Run!" She told him. He remembered the paint on that skully and he wondered why it was so close. It should be with its gang or something.. 0 players like this post! Like? Linna; Outskirts of the city. Sunset Linna's own tail began to wag. "Nice to meet you, Kelpie!" She said. She contemplated asking the other where her paint was. Would that be rude? Linna knew that she would probably die of embarrassment if she was seen without her paint. Besides, how would her gang know it was her? Or what her job was? Suddenly, a small Cerberus pup bounced up to Kelpie, inching closer to Linna to sniff her curiously. Linna looked down at the pup, her mouth open and her tongue lolling in a dog grin. Was this little fluff ball Kelpie's apprentice? He seemed a little young, but maybe he was just small. Linna looked back up at Kelpie, about to inquire about the smaller Cerberus, only to find the grey Cerberus snarling at her. With three heads, it was quite a terrifying image. Not to mention that it brought back the sounds and feels of the battle that lost her gang. The barking of dogs, the unified snarling of Cerberi, the shouting and screaming of humans, the grit tearing at her paws, blood running down her fur. What was wrong? Kelpie had been so friendly! As the Cerberus gave the order to run to the pup, Linna crouched down, her tail tucked between her legs. She looked around frantically, searching for hidden attackers in every shadow. A large slash on her back leg began to sting with pain, making Linna hesitant to run. Linna slowly began to creep backwards, keeping her eyes locked with Kelpie's. "What's happening?" Linna asked, her voice small. If this was an ambush, Linna had no chance. With no battle training, Linna had relied on her speed and Adir in whatever rumbles she'd been involved in. And now Adir wasn't here. 0 players like this post! Like? |

Khalessi; Outskirst of the city. Sunset The chocolate and tan centihound hobbled silently through a abandoned park, torn completely from the roots like a tree after a tornado. She paused and sniffed the air, three of her left side legs up with alertness. Her little heart racing. A strange looking butterfly like insect fluttered up from a pile of debris into the setting sky. Khalessi. the centihound, liked butterflies. They came in varieties of shapes and colors and they were more pretty and friendly than other insects like spiders and wasps. Her old human, a little girl who had recently turned nine some months before, loved butterflies. Khalessi had been there since the girl was no older than three years old, more of a pet to the girl's father but simmered down to being her pet. Khalessi remembered being with their survivor group, comforting her scared humans and making them smile with the antics of her many legs. She frequently brought her little girl things she found while she was out exploring at night. Old shoes, rusty metal parts, partially torn books, and other random materials. But all that changed after the monsters attacked their hideout and Khalessi was separated. Now, Khalessi wandered around. Uncertain about what turn led to what and where she would find her girl again. She spotted a dusty, torn baseball glove laying on a busted metal slide. "Maybe my girl will need this.", she thought as she grabbed the glove into her mouth. She quietly continued her walk through the park. thinking sweet thoughts about her girl. 0 players like this post! Like? |

Kelpie ; Outskirts of city. Sunset. Kelpie had her hackles raised and all three heads were wary of this stranger. Last time they encountered such a dog, it tried to attack them. Right now, Kelpie was too far away to call for her other friend. Who knows what this dog is capable of? The skully, Linna, wasn't running away or furiously slashing at her face yet. She reminded her of Loch Ness when she first found him. Kelpie's middle head shook back and forth. Why did she do this? That was just a memory and now she made another enemy. Maybe she should just run away and forget about this other dog. "What's happening?" She heard the skully whimper. Kelpie's left head looked at its other heads. Her middle head frowned. She had to leave. Why did she snap at this dog? Oh, how this could've turned out differently. She made a strangled half-bark half-whimper and turned away to run. Somewhere, nearby, she heard a frightened yap and something else. She paused. No time for Linna. She pawed at the ground anxiously and looked around. What was that noise? She turned to the tree. The tree where Loch Ness was hiding from the gang dog. She hesitated for a elongated moment and dived into the wilting bushes, stealing a glance back at the painted skully. Beneath the tree Loch Ness was hiding in, a creature was trying to get on top of the tree. It looked suspiciously like a fox.. and it was surround by other foxes. She and Loch Ness wouldn't be able to fight all of them off, not without wounds or another dog to help. She growled quietly. Her pup might die. But she would do everything to not let her pup die at the claws of these foxes. In the lead, there was a ferocious red fox trying to snap at the heels of Loch Ness and it was dangerously close to the whimpering Cerberus puppy. Kelpie barked a bit louder. Some of the foxes turned at the new arrival and they snarled at her threatening. Unfortunately most of the foxes were quite determined to drag away the puppy away to eat. Kelpie's ears were flattened on top of her head and thoughts raced in her mind. Maybe Linna had already ran off by now. She would be fast, she was a skully. Why, oh why, did she return to this den? It was nothing but trouble. 0 players like this post! Like? Edited on 17/03/17 @ 18:16:18 by MapleHollow {Main} (#87927) |

Zeus ; Outskirts of city. Sunset. Zeus nosed through three piles of trash, one for each head, hoping to find something useful. "Found it!" His left head shouted, dragging a rotting mutated fox carcass out of their pile. "Great!" The other two heads shouted in unison, and ate the carcass to the bone, then breaking the bones with a single snap and licking the delicious marrow of the bones. Zeus started off to his hideout, reminiscing about life before this. He had a loving owner, a very fit young human of about 23, who had trained Zeus since he was a puppy to be a police dog. Back then, Zeus didn't have three heads, golden retrievers didn't have their skulls showing, basset hounds' howls didn't sound like the voices of those you loved. Everything was normal. Where Zeus and his master had lived was in practically the center of The Grand City, what was now occupied by gangs, or worse. "Gangs," the middle head mumbled, looking at the ground. Zeus and his master had fought many gangs when they were in the Service, but they had been normal, no mutated creatures, most of the time just scumbag humans. After the dramatic start to the apocalypse, Zeus and his master had stayed together, surviving, for many days, off of the carcasses of animals, and humans, that either couldn't survive the initial onslaught, or just couldn't take the pressure. Zeus had been affected by the initial hit of the apocalypse, growing two other heads to match his first, yet his master didn't abandon him for that. Zeus would be a much different cerberus if he had. Instead of abandoning him, Zeus's master had depended on him more than ever. They had stayed together, until the gang came. It was a gang that he and his master had been put on a case to find and destroy them. They had battled a few times, but the gang had managed to escape every time. They rushed into the encampment in which Zeus and his master had been living. His master told him to hide, and since he had been taught to always obey his master, hide Zeus did. Zeus watched from his hiding place as the gang rushed in and dragged his master away. The gang had many Skullies with them, too many to count. Zeus had been sure to never forget the look of the skully that had snapped at his master, never. A female skully, cream colored with the gang's emblem branded on her sides in the purple paint that particular gang adored. Linna was her name, as Zeus had heard a gang member snap at her for trying to bite his master. Suddenly, Zeus was ripped out of his memories to the sound of many snarling moxes (what he called mutated foxes). "Probably just fighting over food," the right head said, forcing Zeus' body to keep moving to their hideout. Zeus stopped suddenly, his stomach growling at the thought of more food. "They're easy enough to fight off, why not go and see what they've killed and take it from them, the less moxes the better," seeing as all the heads agreed to the middle's decision, Zeus picked up his pace to a trot in the direction the noises were coming from. Zeus reached the area quickly, and crouched behind a bush to get a better look. Alas, the situation was much different than Zeus' stomach had hoped. A young-looking Cerberus puppy was cornered, terrified, up a tree, with a VERY large amount of moxes below it, snapping at the pup's heels. Meanwhile, it's shocked guardian was standing at the edge of the moshpit, wanting to jump in and save it's friend, but Zeus could tell from its eyes that it saw no hope of success. Zeus quickly made a decision. The middle head spoke softly for all of them when it said, "Well we said we wanted less moxes, didn't we?" Zeus ran in, slamming into the horde of moxes, and with his size, killing a few after they were slammed into a wall. Zeus reached up with his left head and grabbed the petrified pup, throwing it to it's shocked guardian. "Go! I have a hideout just south of here! I'll meet you there!" 0 players like this post! (Absol, the apocalypse started 14 years ago and your dog is only 2 years old. It's also impossible for a animal to grow two extra heads, It'll have to be that his mother/grandmother was affected by the radiation and gave birth to a mutated pup.) Kelpie ; Outskirts of city. Sunset. Kelpie grabbed the pup's scruff. That dog was foolish for jumping into that pack she thought but did not call out. She toke one last glance and rushed away. Loch Ness whimpered as she determinedly pushed through the foliage and closer to the hideout. Ah, but how do I know that this is not a trap? One dog would not simply dash into ten foxes without reinforcements. She sniffed the air to check for other dogs. A mouse is hiding near here. A nice snack. Smells of dog, to be expected of course. I think I caught a whiff of.. fox. Her three heads barely had time to process that two foxes had peeled away from the pack to chase after her pup when they suddenly crashed into her. For a moment, there was just a tangle of legs and howling. She staggered away with some scratches before one of the foxes caught her collar in their teeth. Loch Ness yapped in fear as the other fox charged towards it. Blessed with a ancient instinct hidden in her to protect the young of the pack, she desperately clawed the fox's tail and she was rewarded with a satisfying screech from the fox as she teared off a patch of silver fur. The red fox who still had her collar in his mouth let go and started snapping at her in a flurry of teeth. She managed to get a hold of his ear and bit it clean off but not without a few claw marks. The silver fox snarled and retreated. Smart move because Kelpie grabbed the red fox's scruff and threw him against a rock. Not dead, just unconscious. The Cerberus sighed with relief that her mother had taught her a few tricks before she left. 0 players like this post! Like? |

(sigh, I'm dumb, ill take what you said about his mother being affected XD) Zeus ; Outskirts of city. Sunset. "Three of the 12, wait, 10, moxes dead. Two slipped away after those Cerberi!" The left head shouted, throwing another fox into a rock, killing it, then turning its neck back to look for those Cerberi. "Too bad!" The right head shouted, "They can handle two moxes! Now get back to fighting!" Number of moxes were down to 4 as the middle and right heads had each killed one mox during that conversation. The other four moxes stumbled over each other in their rush to escape. One mox was too slow, and Zeus swiped it into a wall, crushing it. "Good amount of food we have here. Let's bring as much as we can," the middle head said, and the other two heads started lifting mox carcasses onto Zeus' back. "Do you think those Cerberi are okay?" The left head asked in a mumble over the mox carcass it was holding. "Long as they listed to us," the right head answered. "They best hope they listened, its the only truly safe place for miles," the middle head said, ending the conversation. Once the left and right heads had finished loading up all the mox carcasses onto Zeus' back, the left head said, "Good thing were a large dog, otherwise we wouldn't be able to carry this all." "We barely are as is!" The right had answered incredulously, "we have more than enough strength to, but space..." "Nada," the middle head finished, "now, lets go, we need to get this back before it starts attracting even bigger predators then us." The left and right heads gulped simultaneously, then got to their job of turning their necks as far back as they could go to not let any food get dropped. 'I hope those Cerberi are okay,' the middle head thought to itself as, bleeding from numerous wounds, Zeus started running towards camp. 0 players like this post! Like?
