I understand completely. I'm thinking I won't even write out anything for my next set of disposable characters either until the battle actually takes place.

Also in regards to your post above- it's clear that a large portion of the pack doesn't agree with Ragnar's sexism, but they won't dare defy the Jarl. Might be interesting to have a character introduced who will actually voice herself to him? It'll erupt some conflict inevitably but if you're down for it so am I haha!

It doesn't help I get attached a little too easily. Even with characters I consider difficult to portray.

Awesome! I'll get around to adding Nikita at some point tonight. :) I'd like to make a male slayer alongside Nikita. Would you have any objections to him being one of Ragnar's sons, since you mention he's had many short lived relationships that resulted in pups? This wouldn't be the same character as the estranged son, as I assume you'll want that character to potentially inherit Ragnar's throne and I don't need two leaders.

That's understandable and it's great to think ahead. If I might offer a suggestion, I think this battle should probably end poorly for the vikings since they didn't exactly do any organized planning and the kingdom is well guarded even if they're not as prepared as they should be either. Perhaps once he sees the tide turning Ragnar can call most of his surviving dogs back before too many are captured? It will certainly make the point of listening to his slayers and lord commander before trying again.

I'd cast a vote for the battle to not turn out too well for the Guard, as well. Not like "We got our haunches handed to us" bad, but not a conquering. Ragnar seems to be stubborn, sure, but he's no fool. If the battle starts to go poorly then I'd imagine he'd call everyone to fall back.

I'd like it if Skera survived because I feel like she has potential to do something as a female slayer and Derrien isn't a strong fighter, but he's fun to play lol. Kolvardi is kind of up in the air. I'd have to feel out that one.

I can throw in some characters as knights if we need them. I have a TON of canines in my Roleplay Character Vault™.

I have no issue with you creating a son for Ragnar. I'm happy you decided to make him have such a relation actually :') I'm super stoked to see him!

I do agree that it would make more sense for the Guard to lose in the initial fight since they are so unprepared and sorted out so erratically. As much as it makes sense for any leader to call off their warriors when they're being defeated, I can't help but see Ragnar as a Jarl who has such a difficult time admitting defeat that he'll refuse to retreat, simply out of pride and arrogance. He can't accept the fact the Highvalley dogs will have the upper hand. So I think I'll play that out, but eventually have him snap out of it and realize how he's endangering his Guard by not listening to them. It's at this point I'm wondering if Gunnvarr's death should coincide with this- perhaps the old Slayers' death will make him quit being such a cocky ass? Or perhaps I should wait to kill him off. I'm not sure.

I really like Kolvardi, even if you haven't done much with him yet. He's mysterious. I'd love for one of my characters to interact with him directly, but nobody from my current roster seems like an appropriate match.

I'm gonna add a few new characters now, then. My hound Skins (you may remember her Potato- though I think her gender is up to debate) and then I think I'll just create another random character from the top of my head. Anyone in the Highvalley looking for a relative/lover/foe?

So I went to reply (with Saba and North at least, still waiting for another character to respond before I continue with Ragnar & co) but I've been hit with a really nasty case of writer's block. I literally wrote out full responses for each character but the quality of the writing was so awful I just exited out from the screen lmao. Blah.

Art sometimes shakes me from my block so I'm gonna draw out some characters (hopefully this will keep everyone motivated!) I'm gonna start with Wendi's Salem because I promised her a sketch of her a while ago and then I'm gonna do some sketches of other characters. :)

Thank you<33333 I think his scarred eye came out looking a little funny but meh. Accessories are really hard for me too, but hopefully drawing some of your characters with collars and feathers and whatnot will give me a bit more practice.
