I think it would be neat if, instead of just common and special bases, there were different levels of rarity (Very Common, Common, Uncommon, Rare, Special and/or Mythic) and the probability of breeding a certain base color was a little more varied to match their rarity level.


Reason I propose this: I oftentimes find myself wanting to breed for a base simply because it is special and not necessarily because it's one I think looks good. If there were more rarities, I would feel more justified not going for the rarest of the bases because I could settle with something else that's good, even if it's not as rare.


NCL, Custom, Event, and even Raffle bases could be included in this according to their difficulty of obtaining originally as well as their closeness to actual lion colors or more natural colors (brown, gold, grey, tan, etc) (the harder they are to get, the higher the rarity) (the more unnatural their colors, the greater the rarity).

I actually was thinking about something like this as well, mostly due to the fact that some Special bases actually have different properties than others; some of them are easier to breed, some of them extremely hard, yet they're all just labeled "Special", which I find seems to confuse a lot of people

I support 100% however I think rather than "Very Common, Common, Uncommon and Rare" would be better as "common, and rare" at least for now as there arent enough bases on the site to split into those categories semi-evenly. but I totally agree, it kind of sucks when theres nice bases but they arent worth much simply cause there's just a ton of them so by adding some rarities to this system, it'd give some bases a time to shine instead of only 'special' bases getting attention

Personally, I was wondering why the genetics don't change to accommodate the quantities of the amount of lions in the game?

For example, Maltese is classed as special, but there are over 600 pages of them. To me, that'd be classed as a common base, however there's only two pages of sidereal - which makes it super rare.

I think that the common/special/rare thing does need work, but it also needs to adapt to the truth of the game, new players that get goldenrod or another form of 'special' gold think its special and super rare because of its genetics, when in reality - it could very well be a NCL base they've found/bred.

I agree it needs more categories, but it needs something that adapts to sort the bases.

Perhaps have like, with the mutation counter, a lion colour counter? *runs off to suggest this*

Although I'm not a coder, I don't think the framework of the genetics system would have to be altered too much to make this happen... I designed the structure so that it COULD be altered as more bases were added to the game. Remember when we just had Light and Dark Shade? Medium Shade was always part of the big picture, but we had to add more bases first.

The only problem I see, which is ALWAYS the problem when re-classifying bases, is to make sure there are enough in-game bases to flesh out each category in each Color Group. That's why there were a couple of larger releases back in the early days when my system was introduced. Well, actually, there's that problem and the fact that, no matter what you do, some people will scream, cry, and threaten to quit the game, but what can you do?

I find nothing wrong with the breeding system as it is.
some specials are easy to breed and others are not for good reason's, for example event base applicator's are usually hard to pass but breed only specials (i.e ebony) are easier. Raffle bases like pearl being one of the hardest

This makes having special bases worth while.
It makes certain bases valuable and others not so much
