That name is lovely. They are not felines, but their movements and attitude give them this common name. This would be like the rare cases where an animal is named after another specie or family which they don't belong to. For example, the red panda.

I was planning them to have earthly, grayscale and sometimes vivid colors, but not jumping into unrealistics like blue, pink, hot red, hot yellow or hot orange. Always kind of grayish, but colorful otherwise.

And maybe if they are social creatures, have the group leader be called the Caliphur's Seer. Caliphur being some sort of deity, and the seers are chosen to lead be the Caliphur

Oooh, like birds, but less vibrant at times? Makes sense, I can see that. Maybe as they get older the nose goes from pink to black? I know they're not cats/feline, just a small idea design wise idk.

Maybe have a leader and a seer. The seer acts as an advisor to the leader and interprets the desires of the Caliphur

I was planning it would be simple groups of about 10 Caliphurs, two of them being the breeding pair (Caliphurs don't have very big litters at once, but they often accept loners if they redeem worthy)

Caliphurs have cat-like unsheatable claws, and climb trees when they need to hide a prey, like leopards.
