Well, I was thinking about the flavor texts we have while I was looking at . . . well, one of my least-loved lionesses, and I had this idea. Bonding levels/affection levels. In our prides, new lionesses and lions are often brought in, and the game treats them like it would treat a lionesses who's been in your pride all of her life. What if, instead of that, there as a bar, like the EXP bar, that measured how much a lioness likes/trusts the main male? There could be several levels, going from Wary/Nervous to like Completely Trusting. When a new lioness comes in, no matter what she was in her previous pride, she'll start at level 1 and you have to interact with her from her page, keep her fed and keep her mood up, stuff like that, for her to trust you more. If you don't do those things, she'll lose trust. The benefits of keeping your bond levels up could be like, hunts are more successful, patrols are more successful, maybe a higher chance of not getting a 1 cub litter (that's iffy and maybe could be replaced by a sort of fertility boost instead). And I think it would be fun if you get slightly different flavor texts for the different levels. (For example: "[Lioness] looks pretty tense . . . maybe you should spend more time with her?" - for level 1, or "[Lioness] seems to be completely at ease with you and her pridemates. You're glad to be her friend." - for a higher level.) I understand that this is pretty complicated and wouldn't be easy to add, but I do think it would be a good addition to the game that would make it more fun and add another level of depth. If you don't support or have something to add/you think should change, let me know! SUGGESTED CHANGES: "Personally I would prefer if it didn't give a reward, as not all things need to. I like the idea overall, but not the rewards. There is an interact button on female pages already, and you can only do it once a day. This is great for my idea. I was imagining that there is a bar below it that lists her current way (like you say, the levels from wary to trusting) and then every day you interact gives you a % of the bar. Say you get 20% a day, and you do it every day. She hits the next level in just a week (not including weekends). I think the "Reward" if you will should be some new flavour texts. Wary lions would have short, skittish ones and trusting ones would have longer, loving ones. With the rest of the text mingling for the between levels. Of course they would still match the personality. This way, for those who want a little extra, you get a small 'reward' of flavour text and a new bonding things for keeping your girls in your pride longer, and those who don't care about this system wouldn't be at a downfall. I like the base idea, however, I would be against bonding creating a fertility boost -- lower fertility lions have a slightly higher chance of generating muties, and VLF (especially 1%) lionesses are rather valuable :) So that raising fertility through bonding would mess with that 0 players like this post! @Padre I know, I was a little unsure of that myself when I was making it but was just coming up with potential benefits. @Heda I can respect that, and I'll add it to the main post as your suggestion (I think you explained the flavor text thing really well). However, I do think there should be some kind of benefit, if only a very small one. It would certainly add to the roleplay aspect of the game, but it also seems to me like a lioness that really likes her king would be trying a little harder at hunting, as opposed to one so nervous she may possibly make a mistake. That said, if this does get added it'll be up to the devs to add what parts they want and even without the 'real' benefits I'm very fond of the idea. I'm also going to add something about maybe lionesses/lions gaining trust without you having to do anything different in your playstyle (so that if there are benefits, it won't force people to do a lot of stuff for them. I know most people feed every three rollovers and interact as needed, when they get the notif about the lioness being ready to run. 0 players like this post! Like? |

Heck yes. I like the idea of a fertility/cub number boost, like if she's more comfortable within the pride then she'll get more protection while pregnant and taking care of cubs and can relax more(stress isn't good for mommies) 0 players like this post! Like? |

Like Padre said, the fertility boost might not be a good idea, but I think the better chance of not having a one cub litter (not 100% or anything because then GOPs would be worthless but you know what I mean) would be a good reward for putting in the effort to get her to completely trusting. 0 players like this post! I think a system like this could add a lot of depth to the game, but I agree with Heda. I don't like how big the rewards seem. It would make bonding mandatory and tedious rather than optional and fun. The lowered chance of 1 cub litters in particular is pretty game-breaking. Basically, if you have to manually interact with them to get trust up, it becomes tedious. But if you make it passive, then it limits the way people play the game by discouraging people from chasing trusting lionesses, even if they no longer need them for a project or whatever. And if you make it so you can gain trust actively and passively, it's the worst of both worlds. So if the rewards are game-breaking you're forcing people to change their play style somehow no matter what. I like the idea of rewards like new personality-specific flavor texts for high trust lionesses, as right now flavor texts are kind of repetitive and have lost a lot of their novelty. In general I'd prefer rewards that enrich the game, rather than rewards that make existing game features easier. 0 players like this post! Like? |
