Welcome to Isles of Illiad!Long ago, a colony of Elves lived and ruled the Isle of Illiad. They built massive, breathtaking cities, temples and monuments spread across the islands, reached only by the way of their gorgeous horses. But the Elves grew haughty and proud of their magical achievements. They tested their ability to control the forces of nature, pushing the boundary to gain more and more... Until they went too far. A magical Cataclysm struck the island and wiped out the elves, leaving the land overpowered with wild magic, changing it and the creatures that live there... Decades passed and the horses that were once used as mounts began to change. They became intelligent, they began to breed, and to spread. They called themselves the Primals and they agreed to bring in a new age together. They formed ranks and established laws and settlements.... However, their memories of the events prior to their awakening were hazey, and soon, the long years of servitude under the elves was long forgotten. They forgot their humble childhoods, the fact that they were slaves once too, and each Primal became selfish and proud as ony one in a position of power can. In time, they formed their own factions and took territory for themselves, squabbling among themselves over pieces of land, but one question soon began to crop up among the strongest of the Primes. There was no King. No one to rule all of the island from shore to shore. A summit was called and they all agreed to come to decide who was the most worthy, but that discussion soon ended in strife as each Prime Lord or Lady asserted that only they were capable of being the Ruler of All. A Disagreement turned to Battle and a single Battle turned to War. But, over time, their descendants had spread farther. As the generations grew, their lifespans shortened, eventually losing the ability to live for centuries. Their reproductive process sped up and there was a boom in mortals. And as they outnumbered their Primal leaders, the higher class, they began to think for themselves. The mortals rebelled against the tyranny of their Primal masters, and established their own ideal for what life should be like. Content in their thrones, the Primals were blindsided by this sudden uprising and many were slain. By the time the dust settled, only five of the strongest remained. These 5 young siblings repented the sins of their forebears. They stood back and entered into dormancy, watching over their followers for all of eternity to come, and as memory faded, they were revered as gods. However... An evil madness has stolen into the heart and mind of the weakest willed of the five, Awakening him from his slumber... and this rot is spreading. The end times are near. Brought on by the elves and their foolish tampering with the raw forces of nature, countless centuries ago, spelling doom for all the rest of the creatures living on the Isle of Illiad. The Primal Gods are awake. Remember this? :D We went inactive because of the hurricane season having knocked several of us out of power, internet, and in some cases, our very homes. You are travelling between realms when you come across a heavily pregnant elderly mare. She's tired and thirsty and tells you that the road ahead of you is treacherous, but if you assist her in finding a water hole she will reward you. She does not elaborate on how. How do you react? A heavy, familiar scent hung in the air, making King's pulse rise. She lifted her head, glancing around and sniffing deeply. Just off the path ahead was a shape, dark and brooding. Extending her stride, King trotted quickly ahead. The smell was of impending birth, an urgent and feral smell. Someone needed help. "Hup!" she called as she drew nearer. The mare picked up her dark head slightly, but clearly she was weak. King slowed nearby, nickering low and friendly. "How do I find thee?" "Unwell, I'm afraid," the mare replied, voice husky from disuse and thready from stress, "I've gone long without water." "Bad for the baby," King replied, flicking an ear at the mare's swollen, dark belly. "We should find you some water. Maybe some sweetgrass or even russet. Let me help you up." ![]() |
