Heres my take on what I think goes on in this enclave.

I have two theories:

Theory one:

You know how the cub is basically "Erased" From the game?
What I think happens is they kill the cubs. But why do they only accept one specific marking at a time?
Maybe the enclave is racist. They are not. What I think is happening is they skin the cubs before death. Yes. I think that the gorilla enclave is like a black market. After your cub is "Erased" Its pelt is sold for beetles. But why a specific trait? I think orders are placed where the customer will ask for a certain marking on the pelt. It all makes sense now. But why under a year old? Its because cubs are more gullible then adolescents. They don't know whats coming.

And the less gruesome theory 2:

The gorilla enclave is a sanctuary for unwanted cubs. All the cubs are well fed, trained, and nurtured. They will release the cubs into the wild after a year to either start their own pride (Male) Or Claimed by a handsome king to be part of a pride (Females). The problem with this one though as it does not explain the fact that the quests require a certain marking or color.

Anyways, Hope you have fun on lioden :)

I think the first theory is false. In one of the December encounters, you find the gorillas from the enclave coming out with the cubs to see the falling snuh. One of the cubs seems to be an adolescent, while another seems to be a newborn

Also, to add on so it won’t be that brutal:

Most important part:

Surely one lion would notice. There are around 3,345,406 lions in lioden, not even counting non-claimed NCLs or cubs given to the enclave, while there’s only around 100,000 gorillas left in the wild.
Now, imagine cubs fighting each other. I’ll estimate around 2,000,000 cubs sent to the enclave throughout the entire time it’s been here, now 1,000,000 die while battling the other cubs sent. Also, not every gorilla would risk their lives with lion pets. So I’ll estimate around 500-3,000 gorillas want to own lions.
I suspect there’ll be a bunch of cubs that survive, given most players choose “difficult” and have to find a cub with 100+ stats.
If a cub has most of its stats at strength, and another at smarts. If these cubs team up together, they could be extremely overpowered, and probably kill the small amount of gorillas killing lions.

1. Why would they ask for certain genders?

2. Why for certain stats?

3. Lions can kill gorillas, especially at night and in a group. There are a ton of lions there, and if they are used for fights, and they win, certainly they’re strong, and can rebel.

4. Gorillas can make ropes... out of sticks. Sticks. You’d think lions will be able to break out of that.

5. If they’re used for battles, why would they request a certain marking?

This is so right! Is the gorilla smiling at the cub? Or is he smirking at his meal?

But wait... Intense zoom in I’d imagine the crossroads is connected, and not like 100 different places. In front of the gorillas are cubs playing, and then the giving tree. The cub that the gorilla is holding is smiling.
Also,, why would they ask for certain stats or genders?

In the December encounter though, some of the cubs are looking like "help me..." I remember wondering why some of the cubs looked like they wanted to be anywhere but there

But what about the stat requirements? Breeders for more cubs/more pelts?

ooo imagine if they take in the cubs, and raise them- THEN the cubs become the starter lions newbies can choose from 0-0

They raise them to fight in a secret underground ring and they make the weakrr ones be the future kings and NCLs. They want specific markings so that you can tell the fighters apart.

Omg lol..

I always thought the gorillas were comparable to people who want a certain breed of cat as a pet, since they seem to be inspired by Koko who had pet kittens

Theory 1 explains how they get the lion meat, It's obviously from the cubs.😨
The gorillas skin them and sell their meat to other lions😐

Maybe the potato cubs that are sent there grow up and when you start the game you are actually choosing one of the grown up cubs from the enclave (not actually from the enclave I just want to think the males get to be kings cause they deserve it)

I think its actually much simplier, gorillas like keeping small cute cubs as pets and Gorilla in the enclave is just a petstore. It has certain trait requrements and then it sells the cubs we give it to the gorillas to be their pet kitties. But they dont take adolescents anymore because they're too big and not cute anymore, same reason why pet shops sell kittens and not adult cats.
The gorilla in explore is a crazy cat lady walking her kitty collection, one of the pet shop customers!

It would make way more sense for them to skin them for their pelts.
In fact, one of the backgrounds you can get from the albino cub breeding challenge Is literally A DEN FULL OF ALBINO PELTS! clear evidence that shows what they did with the albino cubs you bred. They were killed, skinned for their fur, and displayed in a den which they sold back to you😐
There's also a background with DEAD ALBINO CUBS LAYING AROUND!
I'm surprised nobody has mentioned this yet.
