So as it turns out, your king automatically ages to 16 when you retire him, no matter how old he was. That's confusing. So it means, your lion can't die young anymore, and his page will show wrong age forever. (I'm saying this as that kind of player who treats their lions more as characters than just breeding material. For example, my previous kings' untimely death was a part of the pride's story and source of drama xD) Anyway, you can retire your grandpaw anytime you want, so why not just keep their actual age?

UPD: Really: there's nothing in it (grandpaws keeping their age) that could harm the game's balance. Grandpaws can't breed, after all. Plus there can only be one Granpaw per den anyway. Also, one of the main points of Grandpaws was letting your king live longer, but in the end, having them aged up to 16 isn't much nicer than just "killing" them. I see absolutely no reason why they couldn't stay in their actual age.

Maybe as an option when you retire your king early?

Keep alive as a Sub-Male
Retire into a Grandpaw

Or something

@Mech, yes, or just "kill" them like it was before.

I wish I could support more than once. I want to retire my current king fairly young for lore purposes, and it's kinda weird how he'll be 16 when I do.

I'm just going to post the same arguments here that I did on another thread (I would support but there is an exploit and it would also hurt a bunch of players):

1) Forever king
If a Grandpaw keeps his age, he can be re-kinged with an early retirement fee. If he has a lot of stats or is the best-looking lion in existence or both and on top of that he's practically immortal, there are a lot of problems. The cycle can continue with a 'fodder' heir, the Grandpaw, and a ton of GB, which isn't hard for a lot of players.

2) Anti-grandpaw
Some people for whatever reason just hate grandpaws and don't want anything to do with them. Say that they retired their king early; now what? They'd kill the grandpaw, but they want him in their dynasty. They have to sit and deal with a grandpaw when they don't want him, and they can't retire him until he's old enough. While this would be nice for a lot of players, it's frustrating to deal with for others.

What if grandpaws were disabled from being kinged or able to be put into the dynasty early?

Yes, they should be disabled from being kinged again. But they should be able to put into the dynasty anytime, age doesn't matter. The dynasty page will then show their real age of death, even if young. Kinda like it was before grandpaws were introduced.

Or maybe, if the king is below the age of 10 or 13, he'd become a submale instead of grandpaw, but disabled from being kinged again? And if he's older than 10 or 13, he'd become a grandpaw, but again, keep his age and not age to 16.
But I guess this is too complicated. But it would've been fun.

UPD: Just realized that it wouldn't allow to send them into the king dynasty.
