Hey all! i recently came up with this cool idea for a species and needed some opinions on it :o

Heres a little sketch of them:



They're basically... Deer rabbit cat things
but whatever

heres some info on them!

* Forest entity
* Soft colors on pelt symbolize "gentle" sprite
* Alarming or bright colors symbolize "Mischievous" sprite
* Glowing orbs on neck/tail contain lost souls
* Lives deep in forests and caves, sometimes behind waterfalls or in winding rivers
* Guides broken or lost souls to the underworld
* Guides lost travelers to safety
* Mischievous sprites play tricks on travelers (sometimes leads to the travelers death)
* Eyes always closed or squinting

* Omnivores
* Gentle sprites usually prefer fruit and flowers
* Mischievous sprites usually prefer meat or stealing human food

- Gentle small paws
- long ears, adept hearing
- Graceful way of moving and holding themselves
- Horn sizes and colors vary
- Color of the "soul" orbs depends on the area that the sprite is living, as well as wether the souls they lead are clean/corrupted etc
- Pelts are usually very smooth, no sharp markings that bluntly stick out (but its not impossible)
- Darker colors are much more common
- Soul orbs "glow"
- Lessers and Sprites mate for life, Alphas breed to whom they please unless they choose to settle with a mate
- 1-2 offspring per litter
- offspring only communicate with squeaks that can be heard by the mother or father, and don't learn anything else till 5 months of age

Basically..
> These guys live in three main areas, Montains, Oceans/rivers and Forests <

They'll live on a planet that isn't earth, just similar in nature. And at the beginning they coexisted with humans happily
(Humans took what they needed from the Forests, mountains and oceans and only what they needed)
and the sprites played meaningless tricks and helped the humans in their foraging :D

but decades past and the humans become greedy, taking more than what they need from the forests and oceans and mountains and destroying the land with no regard for the wildlife there. They use the land as a means to gain profit and lose their respect for the sprites and the wildlife.

Seeing this, each community of sprites (Mountain, ocean and Forest) choose a champion from their region to fight back against the humans.
A war of sorts insues, until its ended with each of the champions (or leaders of their respected region) places a spell on their home. Only humans with good intentions or a clear heart can enter their homes and come back out alive. Poachers and those who plan on using the resources from their homes for greed may enter, but are never heard from after that.

The Sprites live in large communities and none of them are really "loners" though they are free to roam where they please within their respective region.
The classes are:

Alpha - One of the three champions or their offspring, strong magic and enchantments

Sprite - Regular, can be mischievous or gentle, magic ranges

Lesser - Small, usually have wings ( considered to be pests at times ) can be mischievous or gentle and only know illusion magic.
