Hello! I decided to make this thread of an annoying issue I’ve been noticing. You ever made your own sales thread and you got someone trying to advertise their stuff on YOUR thread? I’ve seen this happen on sales threads and auction threads and it’s sooo annoying and it's rude! Anyways, I think the owner of the thread should have the right to delete other people’s comments or at least kick people out of your thread! After hearing others opinion to add to this idea there should be certain restrictions to this as well! When you request a comment to be deleted, it submits a ticket to the Modbox, where it can then be quickly scanned over and approved or denied right from the page, rather than the mod having to do a ton of work to get it dealt with the modders can check it out before actually deleting the comments but the comment you requested to be deleted could be invisible (just until the modders check it out and choose to delete it or not) just to avoid people being a troll & a spammer. Please be respectful, If you don’t agree then please feel free to tell me why or how we can improve this idea! Otherwise anymore add on's would be appreciated! EDITS: By: River (#6903) This would also be useful for spam. Mobile users seem to have a lot of issues with posting messages sometimes, and I've had 4+ comments saying the same thing. Perhaps if you could delete your own comment, and the maker of the post can make it invisible? By: Tau [HM|Çß] (#18630) I support so long as it's specifically related to the Sales section and perhaps the Clan section? Otherwise, people will delete/make invisible things willy-nilly and that could cause a problem. For example, someone makes a suggestion and someone doesn't agree for good reasons. The OP can just make it invisible. That's not really right as people should be allowed to state their opinions so long as it isn't abusive or rude. So, as long as it's restricted to certain forums and not just every single topic, I think it's a good idea. Might another idea be having them be able to make them invisible while requesting they be deleted? That way someone can't post...say something really nasty and then delete it if they're reported for such behavior? Both the OP of the thread and the OP of the post itself could make it invisible/request it be deleted? That way, the Mods can glance at it and make sure it's not being deleted to avoid getting into trouble or something similar? By: Razzetti [The Rosette Dealer] (#18166) I think that the post should be hidden, maybe remove the poster ID and everything and have it just say "Pending Approval" or something until a mod can get to it. It would then remove the threat of the post, whatever it may be, and also not be 'mean' to another user. In response to more work- maybe it could just submit a ticket to the Modbox, where it can then be quickly scanned over and approved or denied right from the page, rather than the mod having to do a ton of work to get it dealt with. It may remove more of the work they have to do scrubbing a thread clean when a ticket is submitted for x y or z. (Note: If someone already created a thread about this, I will delete! |

It is not a bad idea, but it can lead to many problems, like fights on threads or misunderstanding between players because the owner of the thread had delete the incorrect message. So, there should be a moderator reading and checking every single post where someone wants to delete something. (A waste of energy and time) If you want a message to be deleted, PM the player and ask him/her to remove it. I think that we are mature enough to understand when someone has been offended and edit the comment. And if not, you can contact a moderator, that is more or less the same. 0 players like this post! @Drunk The problem is that it takes time. The struggle I had was that the person blocked me, rampaged on my thread, and then left and I couldn't contact them. It took the mods over a day to get everything cleared up, and by that point no one would go back to the thread. If I had been able to delete or hide the offending messages, it might have saved my thread from destruction. 0 players like this post! Like? |

I had never faced or seen any of that situations. So in my opinion and my experience, it is something weird/an exception, and do not need any change or time. Note: I'm not denying that maybe for you was a problem. 0 players like this post! Like? |

Would be good for keeping out stuff like that but maybe have it be so deleted messages are still viewable to mods and admins just in case they need it? 0 players like this post! Like? |

@KittenMitten, so admins would be able to see it too, in case modders can't get to it? 0 players like this post! Like? |

I like the idea, not only when people start advertising, but for when you're trying to set up a thread and somebody posts before you finish XD It'd be so much easier to just hide the message rather than having to contact a mod etc, especially as the person may not have actually broken the rules! 0 players like this post! This is also particularly annoying when you wish to delete your own messages, as my hands have become a little twitchy recently thanks to a few physical issues of mine. I fully support this. 0 players like this post! Like? |

I support! (As long as it isn't on any auction or game development forums) And deleting sales thread comments would have to be reviewed by mods and/or the thread poster to make sure someone isn't backing out on a bid/purchase without telling the seller or something like that. This would be so helpful in clearing up multi-posts and irritating piggyback sellers. 0 players like this post! Like? |

Honestly why isn't this a thing yet. I hate when people clutter up my forum threads with irrelevant or unwanted information. Support. 0 players like this post! Like? |
