I'm aware that there is another June storyline idea out there, but I didn't quite like it, and thought of a different option for you to look at. It is not done, and it is still in the works. If you have suggestions, then I'm open to them! Thank you!

Characters:

Moja- The goddess of water; she causes the floods every year, as she knows it helps sustain life on the savanna. However, due to the fact that her son and daughter have gone missing, the flooding is even worse than usual. (Her grief causes the inreased flooding, think of the rain as her tears.) She is very mournful, and defensive at this time. She's quite snappy at points -especially when her morality is questioned. She would have the Monsoon base, one of the four bases I've suggested for the event (link: https://www.lioden.com/topic.php?id=304429313973.)

Mabhanan'ana (An'ana for short. She's very self-conscious about her name.)- This is the daughter of the goddess of water. This is the young goddess of rain, storms in particular. She is kind and soft spoken and outright rejects what her mother stands for. She is a bit awkward and nervous. She would have the opposite base of her mother. She will have the Thunderstorm base.

Mheni- This is the son of the goddess of water. He is the young god of lightning, hail, and the sky. He and his sisters are very close. Mheni is very brazen, bold and is unafraid to stand up for what he believes in. He would have the lightning base, and the lightning colored mane.

Story

This is just the basic outline of the story, and it’s not quite done yet. Soo it’s not at its peak yet. This is just like, the basic idea, and isn’t fully done.

So the two children of the Goddess of Water have run away, and the goddess doesn’t know where to find them. Her grief is displayed by the massive, waterfall-esque tears that are running down her face and into the water. When you ask what’s wrong with the lioness, she tells you that her two children have run away, and she hasn’t the faintest idea as to why. She goes on to say that her children are essential to life on the Savanna because they fuel the flooding that soaks the plain each year. She says that the flooding is what fertilizes and revitalizes the soil, and in turn, helps life to continue. She begs you to aid her in her search for her two teens and offers a great reward for you. (10 event beetles if you complete the mission; this would be a one time thing) You say yes and go off to find them. This can only happen after a successful Sangoma ritual -that is to say Moja appearing. (Suggested by Gabriel)

After 2 successful Sangoma rituals,(suggested by Gabriel) in explore, you find two lions trying to make the rain stop and the water recead, and you can do one of two things -ignore them or ask what the heck they’re doing. If you ignore them, well, nothing happens, you ignore them. If you ask what they’re doing, they’ll say that they’re trying to make the flood go away. The daughter then says “If you see our mother, Moja, then please do not tell her you’ve seen us!”
The son then say that “if you see our mother, Moja, tell her that he hopes she drowns in this flood.”

You then go back and tell the goddess one of two things: “I’ve not seen them” or “I have seen them” (this only unlocks if you’ve actually seen the two) If you say “I’ve seen them,” you’ll be rewarded with 10 dive beetles, and the lioness prowls off in the direction you’ve come from. If you say “I haven’t seen them,” she’ll get sad again and cry distraughtly and run away. Once she’s gone, you’ll encounter (in the event tab) her two children, who either get mad at you or are glad with you depending on their choice; if you ratted them out, you have to explain why “She offered money for you” or “She’s a mother looking for her children!”

You then ask why they ran away, and then the two explain who they are. The son says “I’m the god of hail, lightning and clouds. I am the one who forms every storm.”

The daughter says “And I am the goddess of rain and storms. With the help of my brother, I release rain unto the earth.” You ask what this has to do with anything.

The son says “Every year, the savanna floods in the wet season. When this happens, hundreds of thousands of animals -lions, antelope, hippos, cubs, humans- drown and die. These floods bring nothing but death and destruction to the savanna, and they must be stopped.”

The daughter then says, “Our mother oversees the yearly floods, and demands that we help as well. She says that without us, she can not truly perform the procedure to create the floods. If she’s not lying, then we can stop this! We can end all of this death and heartache!”

The son then says, “And you could help us. You could help end the floods, and keep the savanna safe and healthy. You could help us get rid of the water and make the flood dry up.”

“You certainly do not have to,” the daughter says. “But you could help us. We’ll give you time to think.”

The two then leave and continue to try and keep the water at bay. You then have to wait a day and have a similar conversation with their mother.

“They’ve always been rebellious,” the mother says. “They just don’t understand why this flood must happen.” She looks at you, both fury and compassion flaring in her eyes. “They see these floods as a sort of great death. But in truth, I tell you, these floods are imperative to life. Each year, the rains and floods come. When the rain falls, it flows like a river and brings with it new soils that allow plants to regrow healthier, so to sustain all of the herds and creatures that roam this earth. Perhaps you could help me,” She says seriously. “These children need to understand the importance of this event. They must know. Please help me persuade them to return to me, and you will be greatly rewarded.”

_____
From here on out, you must choose a side; you can either aid the goddess (whose name has not 100% been chosen) and help her to get her children to see that they need the flooding, or you can choose to help the teen lions show their mother that the floods are cruel and unneeded.

You can choose “Join the Twins,” or “Join the Mother”

If you join the Twins, then you’ll basically campaign against the mom and she will die at the end of the story, but not before she and her children reconcile. (she comes back though since she’s a goddess) If you side with the mother, no one dies, but the children do not come back to their mother, and continue to fight her cause.

If you join the Twins, they will bless you and give you the powers to command the water to recede in various ways. If you join the Mother, the opposite is true, and she will give you the power to create water, which will be used in questing.

Special Encounters

So each side has special encounters that help you gain affinity with your respective side. Affinity would then be used similarly to reputation in Brotherhood of Zeal quests as a sort of currency. The twins and mother give out special items, rewards, and occasionally lionesses in exchange for your deeds. There would be marking applicators here, 2 for the mother, and 2 for the twins.

Some examples of encounters would be like:

As floodwaters rush over the savanna, you see a young human cub struggling to get out of the way. Do you ignore or try to help?

The interactions would stay pretty much the same from each side. Ignoring would give you affinity with the mother (if you are aligned with her) and helping would give you affinity with the twins (if you're aligned with them)

Note that you can not purchase any of the event bases with affinity. Rather, those are purchased in the dive beetle shop, or obtained through breeding.

Special Lionesses and Bases
For this event, there are 4 special bases. Some can only be gained from buying applicators, (Rain and Lightning bases) and the others can only be obtained through breeding, meaning you have to claim a lioness who’s already got the base (Monsoon, and Thunderstorm). Monsoon based lionesses will only be found in explore IF you have joined the Mother! Thunderstorm based lionesses will only be found in explore IF you have joined the Twins!

Here are the Rain and Thunderstorm Bases: https://www.lioden.com/topic.php?id=304429306521

Here are the Monsoon and Lightning Bases: https://www.lioden.com/topic.php?id=304429313973

So I mentioned that to get Monsoon and Thunderstorm based cubs, you can only breed? Well, I’ve got a solution to that. You see, during the event, there will be other lions and lionesses that are both trying to impede or help the Twins and Mother on their respective missions. Every once in a while, you might come across a group of lions attempting to make it rain, or clear away water (Depending on your chosen side). When this happens, you have the choice to help or ignore. If you click ignore, you go about your day. If you click help, you have the chance to claim a lioness. There is a 15% chance of the lioness having the Thunderstorm or Monsoon base, along with a few other marks already in the game. The Thunderstorm base would be found if you were aligned with the Twins, and the Monsoon base for Moja.

The Sangoma

The Sangoma -as you know- is basically the shawman that contacts the spirits by performing a ritual with rawhides to get the rain to stop. This would still be a major part of this event, as the rituals decide whether or not the story line can continue. In the Brotherhood of Zeal, chapters are unlocked as the event shops are. In this event, however, it would be rituals that decide this. The more rituals that fail, the more of the mother's story continues. The more successful the rituals, the further the Twins' story progresses. Here's how it works:

So say this story had 10 chapters (it won't, this is just an example) The first chapter would be unlocked for both sides, however, to progress the story, a certain amount of successful or unsuccessful rituals must take place. Every chapter that unlocks will require +10 more rituals to continue and be unlocked. So it'd look something like this:

C1: unlocked automatically.
C2: 10 un/successful rituals.
C3: 20 un/successful rituals.
C4: 30 un/successful rituals.
C5: 40 un/successful rituals.
C6: 50 un/successful rituals.
C7: 60 un/successful rituals.
C8: 70 un/successful rituals.
C9: 80 un/successful rituals.
C10: 90 un/successful rituals.

Keep in mind that this is all together. So like, say chapter 4 has just been unlocked. 30 rituals have already been un/successful. To get to 40, you just need to do 10 more. If you were on chapter 8, you'd have 70 rituals, and to complete the story you'd need 10 more. It does not reset every time; it works sort of like a counter, if that makes sense, and there'd be a bar to track how close to unlocking the next chapter you are. SO DONATE YOUR RAW HIDES, MY DUDES!
__
So that is the basic premise of the story. I'm still working on it, and I'm still getting the bases done, but they will be complete by tomorrow (Saturday, May 19)

Thank you so much to GABRIEL for all of your great suggestions!

This suggestion has 15 supports and 4 NO supports.

I really, really like this idea! I have a few suggestions, if you'd like to hear them.

1. Some of those "Quests" could be more like random explore encounters, where you could choose a side and earn "reputation" (or whatever you'd like to call it) for whoever.

i.e.

"A human is about to be swept away in the flood!"
"Save it!" [+1 Rep with the Twins]
"Leave it." [+1 Rep with (mother)]
(If you're aligned with the Twins, it could be altered to say "Easy Kill" or something like that, where you get food instead of rep. If you're aligned with the mother, instead of rep it could give you the respective animal decor, exp, etc).

The "rep" could be used to get certain services from the respective side (obviously only the one you're aligned with). Experience, energy, Dive Beetles, food, "a gift" (Lion Skull, Pangolin scale, or Rawhide), etc.

2. The personalities for the twins. The brother could be brash and commanding, but the sister can be gentle and a little awkward (especially if her name is the An'ana one). Maybe it could be implied that the sister is only going with her brother because she doesn't want him to be hurt, and one of the storyline objectives for the mother's side is to convince the sister to switch sides.

3. Instead of having the son die, what if he learned some wisdom instead? I dunno, but the way you described the mother makes it sound like she loves her cubs a lot and wouldn't kill them. Something along the lines of you helping the mother to show him that without the floods, there would be no new life and the lives lost in the floods couldn't compare to the lives lost during famine or something like that.

4. Incorporate the rituals/sangoma into it. Maybe the story line will open/advance when a certain amount of rituals happen? Like, after one successful ritual the mother could appear to the player and explain why the floods are so bad this year (the twins have gone), and that while they are gone she will refuse to cease the floods, threatening to carry them on to July. After three or so rituals, the twins could appear and explain that they've been trying, but their powers are no match for their mother's. Maybe the rituals could aid them in some way, make them stronger? So if you've allied with the mother, some of the quests she would give you is to sabotage the rituals somehow (maybe a new mechanic to poison the sacrificial goats with some herb or the other). If you've allied with the twins, you get the mission to help the rituals instead.

And that's all I have for now. I really like your idea, and I'd be interested in helping you develop it if you would like.

Ah, thanks! I just really like your idea!

And the other June suggestion kinda feels like just another Wenet, so I was really excited to see this one.

Also: for the mother's name, what about Moja? It's based on the Yoruba water goddess Yemoja, who "cares deeply for all her children," "can be quite destructive and violent [when angered]," and "oversees... ancient wisdom" (from her Wiki page). I just thought maybe it would be cool to have a name that matched the theme of the story line.

Now that the June event has been revamped to a new Storyline not involving the Floods, how does your suggestion fit in?
