Very good idea, I had someone message me but they had me blocked and I don't think they realized it, so with a notification telling them they can't message a blocked user this could be avoided in the future

Blocking really needs to prevent Stud Requests, because that is one of the main reasons I want to block people. 1) they can add messages and 2) there are people who often send requests an then remove and then resend and it's annoying as heck

Could you also add an "Are you Sure?" confirmation and adding the reason when you block them? I've blocked my account so many times while transferring.

I've always thought it would be nice to have the option to attach a message to your block, where if you wanted to you could actually explain why you blocked that person. So if a person tried to message you, other than "This player has blocked you" you could customize a response so instead they would get "This player has blocked you. They have provided the following explanation: You're breath smells funny and you look like a wedge of cheese."

I've also had issues where I block someone and they message me from their side account, sometimes side accounts aren't obvious so it's hard to block them completely. Would be nice if you have an account linked it was made public to make complete blocking more effective.

110% support the stopping them from posting on your threads though. I've had my fair share of people posting nonsense or unrelated things on my threads and it would be great if you could just block them to stop them from further derailing your posts.

I dont support because of this:

posting on the blocked or blocker's thread at all

That is restricting another user from public forum content.
That is too extensive.
To be honest, the block feature should remain something basic, since it is freely used by everyone for any reason, with no moderator control. And not all reasons are good and pure in nature.

People can block for being harassed, yes. But also the harasser can block their victims and scammers can block their past victims as well. Not to mention sometimes people dont even need to talk to one another to block each other.
I have read a couple of complains -even on a secret santa thread- that someone blocked the other and the blocked person had no idea what they did. They never talked to each other. They just wanted to send their gift.

Blocking people from posting into threads can provoke the harasser or the victim further. Depending on who was blocked by whom. Not to mention there is always a way to take advantage of blocking people from public threads. Like... a scammer blocking their past victims, so they cannot post and warn the people about possible scams. Or someone makes a suggestion thread and block all those who they know would be against the idea but without their insight and explanation, people might not realize the idea's bad points. Plus everyone should be allowed to voice their opinion when it comes to the game.

If the person you blocked is pissing you off so much that even their existence is frustrating for you... then I suggest you calm down. They were blocked. That's it. They cant send you PMs, you dont need to read their post since it is hidden, etc.
But if they keep harassing you in your threads... then this is something that needs reporting, since it is against ToS. Report them to the Modbox and the admins will take a look at your situation. They either ban the harasser or they will put an embargo between your accounts.

But giving the power to restrict other people from public forum content into the hands of an average player is just too much.

Axel, I understand your concerns, but almost every other forum I've ever been on prevented blocked users from seeing the entire thread at all. Most of these forums, the blocking is also unmoderated: the idea is to prevent the blocked user from seeing our things at all. If someone wants to sell art, and someone who has been blocked for valid reasons comes in and slams their art because they can still see the thread, you having their reply hidden doesn't stop anyone else who sees the thread from seeing their post.

I don't see how having someone blocked shouldn't block someone from seeing one person's forum threads. It isn't as though it keeps someone from having access to game features, the person can still do anything else on the forums they please, they just can't see the thread to comment on it. If instead of keeping them from positing, it jsut hid the blocker's thread altogether, it wouldn't exacerbate either side.
