Please don't be afraid to tell me what you think! this is an experiment so i'm open to any input. i wont get upset. But id also like feedback if you no support. i don't bite. ---------------------------------- edit: "Fatal familial insomnia (FFI) is a very rare form of genetic prion disease. In almost every case it is caused by a very specific mutation in the PRNP gene. This mutation causes the prion protein (PrP) that is made from this gene to be a different shape (fold incorrectly). Since the protein has a different shape, it cannot work correctly." This basically says that it is a genetic disease and a mutation of the PRNP gene, it is also a prion disease meaning it can be transmitted from one person to another technically! This is only for Fatal Familial Insomnia or FFI, in case there are any other forms of fatal insomnia out there!" "....means it is technically under definition a mutation. And it should also technically be able to be found in animals other than humans, but we've yet to come upon it or any well known case." proof provided by knobba and fyrekit on page 3! i also understand that this "mutation" is a bit graphic, but so are a few other mutations on here. so please keep it in mind ^^ ---------------------------------------------------- what is fatal insomnia? what does it affect?: "Fatal insomnia is an extremely rare sleep disorder which is typically inherited and results in death within a few months to a few years after onset. The main symptom is insomnia, but the disease can also cause a range of other symptoms, such as speech and physical coordination problems and dementia survival rate: Fatal insomnia has no known cure and involves progressively worsening insomnia, which leads to hallucinations, delirium, confusional states like that of dementia, and eventually, death. The average survival time for patients diagnosed with FFI after the onset of symptoms is 18 months" I think they'd MAYBE live to be an adolescent (1.5-1.10 years) at most. Since lion lifespans are less than humans. Way less. ----------------------------------------------- Lineart change?: these would be minimal, sleepy look/eyebags/sunken eyes, skinnier than normal lions. Bones outlined, etc Suggested by ladia. ------------------------------------------------ What would this affect?: hunting patrols/exploring, eating possibly. Lack of sleep. they wouldn't want to interact much with others, so barely patrolling, or affecting hunting trips so you bring back less food because theyre so sluggish. you wouldnt be able to feed them on some days(possibly?) because they refuse it. so the option could be missing every now and then with something that says . this will not cause them to die of starvation immediately, but instead of them running from starvation, they either die or run off and die from moodyness/starvation. mood decrease. as when someone is tired they tend to be moody. and more likely to get scars from patrolling/hunting ely UPDATE: Game wise, it would say by the mutation bar that it has lethal insomnia. So you don't have worry about your heir randomly getting it or your king. It would appear from birth. This mutation has a really slim chance of happening to anyone who is worried or doesnt want it. Just like any other lethal, (liptomatosis, two heads, harlequinn itchytosis, etc). -------------------------------------------------- Possible deaths: starvation, running off from hallucinations, tired to the point of not moving or attempting to move anymore. -------------------------------------------- I think they'd MAYBE live to be an adolescent (1.5 years) at most. Since lion lifespans are less than humans. Way less. ------------------------------------------ what if i get this and don't want it?? what if i get this and do want it but its pretty enough that i want it to be my heir?? well! i remember someone saying there was special fruit in monkey business that could get rid of mutations! and remember, this has a SLIM SLIM chance of happening. just like cyclopia, or any other fatal babies. you can always get pretty lions anyways if you wanted to and get a new heir. so don't worry about it! ---------------------------------------- flavor text ideas!: (some ideas might be edited a bit) "You went to go check up on Cub, they seemed a little out of it during training today, they look like they could use some rest." sanu - "The young lion tells you it's been months since they last slept. You worry for them....." ash - "Flavor text idea( Halfway mark): You had to look for hours to find Cub, when you did you noticed that they were laying as if dead in a nook away from the pride, it was obvious they were trying and failing to sleep again, maybe some fermented fruit might help?" Sanu - "Flavor text for death: [name] finally seems to be sleeping. Upon closer inspection, you can tell they won't be waking up again." ely - You went to visit Cub today down by their favorite place to rest when you notice they seemed to weak to move. They said that they finally felt that they could sleep but is scared so you lay down with them, knowing that when dawn comes only one of you would see the rising sun You came to visit your newest pride members when the lioness mentions that one of the cubs seems to never sleep. Maybe they are just a little more hyper than normal. Sanu - "You notice [Cub] stumbling over their paws. You were about to joke about them getting into the fermented marula fruit when you notice how tired they look. They seem like they're on the verge of tears when they tell you they can't sleep." "[Cub] came to you last night and told you they couldn't sleep. You thought it was the usual, someone had a nightmare, but when you let them snuggle up in your mane you wake up to discover that they're still staring blankly ahead. Maybe this is serious..." "One of your broodmothers came rushing over to you in a panic! She was too panicked to say anything, so you just tell her to lead the way. She brings you to [Cub], who is seizing on the ground, screaming. Multiple other cubs are holding [Cub] down. When you tell them to get off, [Cub] starts screaming about things that aren't there. Does this ever end?" "You've tried everything to help [Cub] sleep. When you discovered [Cub] resting in some tiny crack in the den wall, you felt relieved. But then you noticed that they were no longer breathing." Littleantler - "The other lionesses are complaining that Cub will not eat. When you approach him/her, they state they will simply not eat it because of all the bugs and maggots in it, when you look at it, it looks perfectly fresh. Odd." - [Lioness notices one of her *newborn* cubs is struggling to sleep. She is worried over why the cub has such trouble] Wenduo - Training: You tried to get Cub to try running with the others but they were only able to make it a few strides before collapsing. You worry for them as you carry them to the shade. It seems they keep losing energy. sanu - Wrestling: (Panic Attack) You decided to take Cub to the side to tussle, since you felt they might need some one on one time wheb, mid grapple they start ceasing and gasping like they had just raced a cheetah. You had to wallop their back to get them out of it. Stalking: (Phobias) You decided to have Cub try stalking when they start screaming of the darkness. You had to drag them away to a clear field before their rambling stopped. How can a lion be so afraid of the dark? Climbing: (Easy Hyper/Hypothermia) You had Cub climbing a tree when suddenly the other cubs scream. You race over from your perch to find Cub had fallen out of the tree shaking horridly. When you touch their nose you are shocked to find them cold like they had been in the mountains. You had Cub climbing a hill when they suddenly fall over panting heavily. You had to race them to cool water, they were burning up like fire. sanu - "Its time for the pride to sleep but [ cub ] come up to you and claims that they aren't tired. So you both stay awake for the entire night. " " [ cub ] is awake for three nights in a row now and has stopped eating? Maybe you should talk to the scrap of fur? "You wake up suddenly and find [ cub ] has pounced on you pummeling you with tiny attacks. When you yell at them they swear they saw a monster " " [ cub ] screams again keeping the rest of the cubs up, you take them to your den and they manage to keep you both up for the entire night. " -clawprint - You cuddle with [cub] at night to help them sleep but instead, [cub] keeps waking you up with wriggling and tired whimpers. -manta ray - You notice (cub) trying to convince one of the other cubs to eat their dinner. It seems like (cub) is finally socializing like a normal cub! ...Odd, wasn't that the meal you just gave (cub) a few minutes ago? -huss - -------------------------------------- other: if this doesnt work, a sleeping pose might work out? - ladwick ------------------------------------- rough mockup done by alternia rough cub mockup done by me remake there are only if the artists decide to add different poses instead of just the minimal lineart |

Don't see how this would work, as Jack said, the lions don't really 'sleep' on this game 0 players like this post! Like? |

It doesn't really matter if they sleep or not or if they are said to. Lions do sleep in real life and this could still be added. 0 players like this post! Like? |

I think this is quiet an interesting mutation. Maybe instead of an entirely new pose set, it could be an overly and/or lineart edit to make the lions look skinny and exhausted? Dull, sunken eyes, bones outlined, droopy expression, ect 0 players like this post! Like? |

Not sure how this would work... it's a sleeping disorder, not a mutation 0 players like this post! Like? |

Sure its not a mutation, but there are other things that aren't actually mutations that are called mutations on ld. ^^ 0 players like this post! Like? |

@africa I understand! You don't have to support. This is experimental. I thought i could give it a try. People suggest all different types of mutations. 0 players like this post! Like? |
