Two prides, Mkali and Nguvu, have been warring with each other over a disputed parcel of land since longer then any alive can remember. Now, new threats have come. The hyena clan to the southwest, which was previously thought to not be an issue, has grown to a massive number and taken over a significant portion of the Mkali pride's territory. Meanwhile, in the north east, humans are encroaching and have forced the Nguvu Pride to move their primary den site closer to the Disputed Lands in order to keep their cubs safe from the humans and dogs. Both prides are being forced to hunt more often in the Disputed Lands, the only place herds of prey are now able to come into the pridelands. There's not enough to sustain each of the prides and no one has seen a new lion in years. The prides must either learn to work together to defeat the hyenas once and for all or one king must defeat the other and try to navigate their way safely through the Hyena lands without knowing what's waiting on the other side.

Nguvu Pride History
The pride living to the west of the river had been ruled by a just and strong king for years. He was beloved by the lionesses and the pride thrived and grew under him. He defeated challenger after challenger and his cubs continued to grow up big and strong with the food provided by his skilled huntresses. However, as the humans expanded and began to cut off the Nguvu pride in the west, fewer challengers appeared and it allowed for Killmonger to rule for much longer then normal. One day on a hunt, Killmonger was kicked on the head by a zebra. Age had made his reaction times slower and he had been unable to duck the kick like he had time and time before. He collapsed to the ground and convulsed for thirty seconds. When Killmonger awoke, the just and fair king was no more. In his place was a sadistic, cruel beast. He no longer went on patrols, allowing the Mkali pride to claim most of his territory, and killed or tortured his lionesses and offspring for minor offenses.

Then one day, a new challenger appeared. A handsome young lion at the beginning of his prime years. Sefu defeated the tyrant and earned the lionesses' trust by ensuring the sick and wounded to feed first. When all were healed physically, he set out to reclaim the territory lost to the Mkali pride and welcomed back lionesses that had abandoned the twisted king with open arms. Within a couple years, he had reached his goal of reclaiming all of their territory. Unfortunately by now the humans had completely cut them off at the northwest and they and their dogs were proving to be a real threat to the pride. Sefu moved the pride's main campsite from the place it had been for generations to a new site downriver from where the Mkali call home.

Rules
1. All of Lioden's roleplay rules apply.
2. This is a literate realistic roleplay. Posts must be at least 5 sentences long, not counting dialogue, and absolutely no godmodding, powerplaying, or allowed.
3. Realism should be maintained, meaning no lions who are albino, black, chimera, etc. White lions will be RARE due to it being a recessive trait. Males with lightly colored or scarce manes will be considered less desirable or unattractive by lionesses. All lions with light colored eyes will be at a disadvantage due to being sensitive to light. Lionesses with manes will have a hormonal imbalance and be treated as rival males by male lions. This also means you can NOT use lioden images for your characters.
4. Golden Rule of RPing: Hate the character, not the player!
5. Drama Free Zone: All players are assumed to be 13+ years old and are expected to act as mature adults. I'm not your babysitter. If you have a problem with someone, take it to pm and find a way to either resolve it or agree to disagree.
6. Fighting: Killing someone else's character is only allowed if both parties agree to it in advance. Males can only lose to females if four or more females have ganged up against a single male. Otherwise, the female WILL lose every single time. Applicants put the phrase cat bull terrier somewhere in your application.
7. In order to keep things PG-13, all breeding, birthing, gory injuries (any time one can see that which should be covered by skin), or killing of prey will be kept vague. There's not really any need to go into descriptive detail of these things. If you feel the need to, you can fade to black.
8. Character limit is 3. You must be able to keep up with all of your characters, meaning all of them get roughly equal number of posts and post length and quality do not diminish due to the number of characters you have. I reserve the right to request you kill off one or more of your characters should I decide your unable to keep up with the number of characters you have.
9. You must be active. I expect posts at least once every other week. If you know you're going to be unable to post for longer then that, PM me. Unexcused absences may result in your characters being killed off.
