You can either Explore and Impress and NCL (Newly Claimed Lioness) or you can go the Trading Center and purchase a Lioness from another player using SB (Silver Beetles - the free currency of the game) or GB (Golden Beetles - these cost USD unless acquired form another player). There are also Lion Sales threads found here that you can peruse and find Lions posted for sale by other players. You can also participate in Auctions and Raffles hosted by other players. It just depends on what you want to do! Based on the fact that you are a new player and I doubt you have very much SB, your best bet would be to try and impress an NCL by Exploring.

Awesome! You will need to expand your territory before it will let you try again though! You can only have as many mature Lionesses in your pride as you do territory spaces. Territory spaces can be bought for SB or it can be acquired by challenging other Lions (make sure your Lion has more stats than they do!) on their territory/den pages which can be accessed by going to the Crossroads and clicking on Territory at the bottom. If you scroll down once you reach their page, it will give you the option to attack the Lion for three things; Territory, EXP, or Skill. Choose territory and then if you win, you gain a territory space!
