OLD THREAD Seeing as the old thread was from 2015, I decided to make a more detailed submission of hydrocephalus What is Hydrocephalus? From Vetstreet: "Hydrocephalus, which literally means “water on the brain,” is a buildup of fluid inside the skull. This accumulation puts pressure on the brain, causing signs such as an enlarged, dome-shaped head, seizures, blindness, and behavioral changes." Hydrocephalus can exist in, as far as I know, any mammal. Humans, cats, dogs, squirrels- just some examples of what I've personally seen. Prognosis is typically very, very poor, usually even with treatment. These cants can live to adulthood, but with serious problems. It isn't always fatal without (serious) intervention, as seen in Benny(link is SFW/no gore). What does it look like? Now, if you go on Google Images, you can find some real horror shows- again, this has a poor prognosis. However, hydrocephalus varies! It can be as minor as Olaf here: SOURCE To more extreme, like Zeke: SOURCE What are your plans for this mutation? Now, let's be realistic. Benny, the cat I linked, has relatively moderate-to-mild hydrocephalus- and the fact that he had lived to 5, as of the time of the article's writing, was praised by his human as a 'miracle'. This does not have a good outcome, and I'd imagine it has much less of one in the wild. This would ultimately be lethal. While I would love for these little cuties to live into adulthood, I had two plans: 1.) Dying at a set number of days during childhood, as with the majority of lethals. 2.) Dying at a random age in early adulthood. I'd like your input as to which would be better, but I WILL NOT BUDGE that this should be fatal. A more extreme or gorey form of art could be available depending on if they die in very early childhood (like Cyclopia), or something more like Zeke could pass in mid-late childhood, if not even up to adolescence. MAKE SURE TO TELL ME WHY YOU DON'T SUPPORT! |

Once again-TELL ME WHY YOU DON'T SUPPORT. "Hmm this is ugly!" etc! Tell me! (But also remember that there are grosser lethals on the site!) 0 players like this post! Like? |

The only reason I personally don't support(but I didn't click no support) is because the mutation is pretty mild looks-wise. Most lethals on site tend to be quite unique and different looking, but just a slightly mutated head seems a bit underwhelming? 0 players like this post! Like? |

Calix, I intentionally left out gorey or NSFW pics, but this can definitely be incredibly extreme. Most of the pictures online are also from inspirational stories of 'miracle cats', so I only really have access to the cute ones. If you'd like, perhaps google hydrocephalus in humans, but BE WARNED. This condition can be incredibly grotesque. 0 players like this post! Like? |

Yeah but in cats, the looks end up being mostly on the mild side. At least in what I'm finding in medical pages online. Well, mild at least compared to the current lethals. It's a cool idea but I just don't see it being an interesting lethal mutation, when compared to the others? Just my 2 cents and thoughts on maybe why it's not getting a ton of support ^^; 0 players like this post! Like? Edited on 08/10/18 @ 22:00:53 by Calix (#4975) |

I could try to change it up more, later- maybe draw a mockup? I'm unsure. I've seen pictures in physical vet textbooks/a biology text. 0 players like this post! Like? |

Support, I breed rabbits and have seen it. It's a horrible thing and would definitely be a quick cub fatal. Almost all animals with it die and, without a vet, will definitely die. For design, I'd say big head, tiny ears, bulging eyes, maybe shorter muzzle/legs. 0 players like this post! Like? |

I’d say it should have different levels like mild, moderate, and severe. And depending on what level it is, determines how long the lion lives 0 players like this post! Like? |

I definitely feel like this would be a great lethal to add to the ones we have! Maybe a hydro cub could be a bit longer lived, to about late cubhood at least since the cerebrospinal fluid could take some time to build up? Perhaps about 8 months for lifespan? 0 players like this post! Like? |

I think the cub should die at 4 months, since this condition is incredibly lethal. Especially in the wild, I just don't think living to see adolecence would be realistic, let alone early adulthood. I love the idea though!!! :3 0 players like this post! Like? |
