I'm assuming this may have been suggested before but couldnt find the topic. If there could be an option to search for clean/inbred lions when searching for lions in TC and when searching for studs when searching in the search area for lions. As someone who's moving to breeding clean lined lions I struggle in finding clean lions around and having the ability to search and find clean lions with an option to click on when searching would really help instead of searching for people/trades with clean in their names because not all people add the word clean to their name/trade name. This would also prevent me from needing to search through a lion's entire lineage to see if hes an inbred To make it clear: A clean lion is a lion that has no inbreeding at all in his ENTIRE lineage and no same lion appearing more than once in the ENTIRE lineage Thanks for the support <3 If you dont support the topic I'd love to know why ~ |

I'm not a clean breeder myself but this would be suuuper useful for me even though I'm not and I can imagine invaluable for those who are. There've been times where I thought I had a clean king and then I clicked through his lineage a bit more and uh...not so much. Had to do some quick edits before I got angry inbox messages. Thank you :D I kind of get you I was searching for a clean mutie replacer for my king and almost bought a lion that wasnt clean. He may be clean in the first 2 pages of lineage but when I went down searching through at some point I ran into inbreeding which totally ruined it for me ~ Not to mention me spending time going through the entire lineage spending my GB on him wouldve been a total waste and to make It worse the person advertised it as clean. It could be the person doesnt know what clean is or just didnt know that their king is an inbred. Either way this could really help out. 0 players like this post! Like? |

I would definitely love to see this option in trades, but i'm not sure how this feature would functionally work. xD The trade search function would have to check the entire heritage of the lion, and if no "This lion has X possibilities of inbreeding" message occurs then assign that lion a category/class of "clean" and pull the lion forth (or vice versa). Most of the search features we have are things that are listed in the Lion's genetics or profile page- things like gender, eyes, mutation, personality, etc. are all clearly listed on the Lion's page. Even "Heat" status is listed on the lion's page, with a "This lioness is in heat" message at the top. Accessing heritage requires one click away, to a separate page with its own function. I assume that anyone who does not support this is either wanting to avoid "classing" a lion as "clean" or "unclean" in order to make it a searchable trade feature, or simply doesn't care/doesn't want another thing cluttering their trade search. xD Personally i'd love to see this happen, i'm just not sure how it would work! without classifying lions as either "clean" or "unclean" on their page, thus elevating cleanliness to a searchable function, which I could see as being a little controversial for some <3. Ultimately, "clean (or not) breeding is a gameplay choice" and is neither supported nor discouraged by the game itself, so the function would just support a gameplay decision of a facet of members. EDIT: Including myself. xD I just wanted to point out why it may not be implemented, or at least may be complicated... <3. 0 players like this post! Like? Another problem would be if there were shifts in who were considered too plentiful as studs since that's an ever shifting thing. They may be able to do no inbreeding but I've got a girl that's clean except for savannah prince being in her heritage 0 players like this post! Like? |

This feature would also have to hold a universal (site-wide) definition of "clean" that would be agreed upon by all members and supported by Lioden itself. Although no inbreeding (no matter how far back) is a part of what many consider to be clean, some say that "clean" is no inbreeding and no big 4, for example, so they'd have an additional little thing to search through in order to make sure the lions fit their definition of "clean". I think that starting with the most basic definition of clean (no inbreeding) would be easiest to eliminate some lions from the search, which is the point of search functions (narrowing in on the desired lion), but i'd see Lioden "Officially Supporting"( i.e. introducing a formal feature that uses) one definition of clean as being a little controversial too. xD So, then to make people happy they'd have to parse down to "No Inbreeding" and make that word the search function- a little checkbox saying "No Inbreeding", like we have for heat class, instead of using "clean" which can be seen to have different definitions. xD EDIT: This point was brought up in a way while I was writing this. xD So, if I may, I'd like to suggest that the proposed feature be re-classed as a checkbox that says "No Inbreeding" and can be checked for the search function to apply or remain unchecked for inbreeding being okay. That way we avoid any controversy surrounding "clean" or picking out certain lions from the heritage (which I don't think should ever be searchable in the trading post, since it essentially singles out and in a way "bad mouths" or "bad lists" that lion's offspring :C Which actually is a little... mean? when you think about it that way, even if people are just using the polite buzzword "no big 4" instead of badmouthing in any way and even if the initial intention was imo more aligned with simply creating separate lineages that don't get a 'boost' from established bloodlines and would be safer/easier to use for clean breeding), and Lioden can still remain neutral on the topic while helping out a subclass of their members. :3 0 players like this post! I supported this one. Would also like the option to choose how long the heritage is. 0 players like this post! Like? |

While I don't get the hype myself, it would be interesting to see, though I doubt it would ever happen since there's no actual set in stone definition of "clean" breeding (I've seen 4 different definitions so far) and it seems to vary fairly widely from person to person in terms of what is and is not allowed. So for that to even work as a baseline thing to search for there would have to be a set definition and if the set definition doesn't match your definition you're still stuck searching by hand regardless. 0 players like this post! Thanks for everyone supporting :D And just to make it clear. Because of the controversial topic of what exactly clean is is the reason I went with the MOST BASIC thing you can call clean and thats just having the no inbreeding in your entire lineage. Which is basically having the no inbreeding message in the entire lineage I think it makes sense Will definitely edit my main post in a bit with your suggestions ~ 0 players like this post! Like? |

Although I think the idea is good, how, fundamentally, would it work with lions with extremely long lineages? The coding needed behind checking every single lion's entire heratinge would be pretty strenuous on the site, don't you think? 0 players like this post! Like? |

I support, my king was once a dirty female lion I accidentally bought off TC for 10GB totally forgetting to check heritage. I saw the desired base I wanted and the DR and just caved. Next thing you know the cub is dirty with 4 instances on the first page. I actually shed a single tear knowing I wasted 10 GB on a lion I thought would kick off my rosette project only to find out i'd have to do my search all over again and theres not many cheap Ankh based cubs with rosettes out there. I wind up having to do a heritage replace on him in order to king. The option to automatically know if the lion is inbred or not would save us a TON considering many people tend to forget to check when shopping for their desired lion, and not many people are willing to put if the lion is clean or dirty in their trades. 0 players like this post! The sister site has a feature where it counts coefficient inbreeding for the given (alive) wolf, I think it might be usefull here. Although, clean breeding on these sites typically mean that no ancestors inbred ever, because the COI automatically drops to 0% as long as there isn't any shared ancestors between the parents. That is the generally the agreed upon basics, popular studs mostly being excluded due to the amount of potentional outcrossings leading to inbreeding. It's the same reason the clean market skews towards short heritage lions, however much that can cause a problem if it's over saturated. 0 players like this post! Like? |
