So I've been thinking about making a WC RP here on the LD forums, but not quite done in the traditional manner. As a past DM myself, I want to make an all new location, all new story, and new beginnings in general. If you are curious, read on, and allow me to make my proposal!

I've already made a starter map based on the area I wanted to use. Centered in an area in Arkansas, I discovered a map that apparently has nothing on it but one small building, to which purpose I cannot actually discern. So I've thought about taking it a little bit more into the realm of fiction, leaving that as a Twoleg ruin, and utilizing the island as an abandoned area for a new clan of Cats.



I've thought about taking certain sections of the map and doing quick paintings to show the different areas of the island, because it is actually quite diverse in design there just looking at the satellite images. The climate of the state would be taken into account -- storms get pretty wild and involved with high winds, lightning that strobe-lights the land, heavy rains and thick snow in the winter.

The story I've thought about so far is that the place perhaps used to be an ancient home for cats that had gone extinct on the island, which I haven't settled on a reason why yet -- and if I had, I'd keep it a secret anyway. Got a few ideas that'll work nicely for it and for plot. Silverpelt, and indeed cat spirits in general seem to act differently throughout the books depending on what land is occupied. so utilizing that I could create a different and reasonable system; perhaps the echoes of fading ancestors called in cats, guided them (however vaguely) to start a new community, and it goes on from there; either as one clan solid, or a clan that splits up over time. It would be the characters that determine how things are run, rather than following traditional, old rites found in the other books. These characters would be making new traditions for their clans.

All the while, I would be DMing -- monitoring the health of the animal life, bringing in consequences for actions (IE overhunting, messing with the wildlife, messing with the humans, etc) and bringing in island-wide plots. This wouldn't stop players from doing their own little plots, and though I've thought about spreading the zones out through multiple threads, I would task clan leaders to summarize recent events on their own post in a News thread made for the continuity. Which means they'd be officers of mine to make sure the thing plays out well.

I also figured I would be a little lenient in terms of character creation. I still am not fond of the sparkle cat idea, with super unnatural colors, symbols or shapes on them, but I understand creative freedom is awesome; and if you could find out a way a cat could adorn itself, or find a mutation or an accent color that wasn't too far out there, I'd say go for it. IE: The character I have planned to bring in to lead one of the clans is a blue ginger tabby (pictured below), a rare mutation that does actually exist.



Above all, I would focus on maintaining a sense of fun and adventure in the thread, and allowing a new view on the genre that the books never expanded on. I always found the books a bit dumb here and there, with elements that made no sense whatsoever; if the cats were legit able to think, speak, ponder, make a culture for themselves, and even build to change the environment in which they lived, they surely should act more intelligently. Rats of Nimh style, perhaps, to the limitations of their feral forms.
