I don't know if theres already a thread about this, but If I have a grandpaw run away on me, his file in the dynasty says he's still alive and its a little frustrating as someone who likes to look through their kings' looks and stats- all that jazz. But if a grandpaw runs away you cant do that!
Basically I'm just suggesting that when grandpaws run off, and if you don't reclaim them then they just pop up as 'dead' in the dynasty so that they aren't stuck in whatever weird purgatory they are in.
