So when you're retiring your lion you can't keep the stats or mutation of him, just his looks. Some people pay a lot of Gb to customize their heir.

So let me tell you what sucks. New bases are coming out left and right and without applicators. I just spent over 300gb on customizing my lion, retiring him twice and making him have decent stats with a bunch of markings. The rest went to markings and apps for my pride. Now leonid heirs are down in price but if I bought one i would have to spend another 200 or so dollars just to remake him.

My question is, CAN WE PLEASE. Please be able to pick to keep the base or not?

Breed only bases are hard to get as is and it's really pay to play if you have to redo your stud every time a new base comes out- id you want to keep the markings he has. It would have little to no effect on actual gameplay. It would be as if you could make the base appliable to your king which you've already bred or bought that base to begin with.

Now you all have seen the kings with the several rosette markings, that's not what I was planning, just for applicator marks to stay would be nice. Breed only should stay breed only, however if you've spent so much on the applicator itself you should be able to keep it.

This could be a feature to add for GB.

If you vote no could you elaborate on why it would be a bad idea?

i'm personally voting against this because it takes the entire purpose of selective breeding within a breeding simulator away and turns it more into a "pay-to-win" type game. instead of putting in effort to breeding specific attributes onto lions, this suggestion would mean spending GB to selectively pick-and-choose your king's appearance, and all bases, eyes, manes, markings, and skins would be fair game. i can't support something that strips away a core mechanic of the game. even if your suggestion is specifically for retiring your king, it has a site-wide effect

Okay, to all of those who decided not to support this. The main point of this was to be able to choose to change or keep your male's base. Markings were an extra idea but i see now that could be heavily abused. Please reread and adjust <3 This would just be as if you applied an applicator to your male. Nothing changes but his base, which you already bred out or bought in general.

I still can't support.

Mainly, still for the same reasons [ divine ]. stated. It takes away the competitive aspect of the breeding; particularly for something like a combo base, or a special base that can't be applied with an applicator. In the case of Solaris, your stud's value can increase by up to 10 GB just by changing his base.

If you're worried about passing your lion's looks, you can always crunchy worm and hope for the best - I know dozens of players do it.

It wouldn't be changing it at all, your heir already has the base which you've bred and or paid for. The only 'unfair' aspect is that you already have the markings you picked before

Ah sorry, I’m a β€˜no support’. (I’m kinda going to restate what divine and Ghostie said, just with way more rambling and examples to get my point across if that’s alright.) It would take the difficulty out of the game and be easily exploitable. There’s a lot of emphasis on getting the first king with a certain combination of traits, and I think it should stay difficult to achieve that.

Hypothetically this could be used in the case you’re describing - you’ve spent money on getting all the applicators you want, and you’ve used them all on your boy, when a week later a super cool new base comes out. Once the price goes down you get a hold of a lion with the base and make your stud look as pretty as you want. All good, honestly I’d like that too.

In practice? The folks with the 4 rosettes and royal ebony mane with dawn eyes or whatever will be able to immediately take over the market. They’ll drop some rl cash on the game to buy the first of these bases, make huge amounts of gb (even potato Leonids were selling out of 15gb slots for a while there!) and then when the next cool breed only/combo base comes around? Rinse and repeat, except they won’t even have to buy gb this time. It’s so rare for new (and good looking!) non-base traits to come out, folks could keep one set of markings, eyes, and mane for years.

Some bases are breed only, and I think they should stay breed only, not β€˜applicable but only to kings.’ It would be great fun, but I can’t see a way it wouldn’t completely wreck the market or be horribly exploited. (No hate to the folks with all breed only kings, y’all are great and have worked hard for what you have - I came across a little harsh there.)

Thank you for your restatement! Perhaps only applicator markings could stay. I do see where it could be abused by the already rich players in the game. I was thinking innocently haha πŸ˜…
I'm not sure, i'll just let the players decide what they want :)

Ah of course! I figured maybe you hadn’t thought of that, especially since you wanted it to be less pay-to-win. I’ll keep an eye on this to see if anyone comes up with a good work around - and maybe everyone else isn’t as hung up on this as I am, haha. Have a nice day! :)
