I really like the idea! I agree with Insanity Bringer, though, I think it needs to be toned down a bit. It hurts my eyes a little bit with how bright and saturated it is right now. Otherwise I think it's a nice base suggestion :D

Edit: Oops, I didn't see you had modified it! I think it looks better, it could still be a teeny bit less saturated but it definitely is an improvement!

I can see some potential for this base but it's really bright to me as it is currently. I can't see the other image though so it might be better. ;o;
