I've noticed that even if you're a maneless when claiming lionesses in explore, you are still able to impress her by shaking your mane. The point of being maneless is that it is a disadvantage in my opinion so it kind of makes it less interesting and even kind of ruins gameplay for me. In the future, I think that if your king is maneless, you shouldn't have the option to shake your mane when claiming or if you do, it simply shouldn't work.
