I had this idea, since snow leopards are my favorite big cat, and Lioden does an excellent job mixing big cat species! We've already got leopons and tigons, which turned out wonderfully. However, I was wondering what it would be like to have a snow leopard-lion hybrid. This could be basically the same as a regular mutation, but with a slight factor. Snow leopards are animals that thrive in cold environments, so I was thinking that during the winter months of the year (December, January, February), the snow-lion mutation would have a 15% higher chance of happening on Lioden! Here's a little more information: Unique MarkingsSnow-Lions (or whatever they end up being called, I'll just call them that for now), would have markings that can ONLY be passed on by breeding a “first generation” snow-lion (AKA a cub bred from two regular lions would have this marking and then could be passed on, however the cub’s parents would NOT have this marking since they don’t have snow-lion lineage)! This marking could be "Splotched Rosette". Snow leopards have a rosette-like marking, however, around their eyes, muzzle, neck fur, legs/ankles, and tail-tip they have solid black blobs/dots instead of rosettes. Their tail-tips are the only blob that can cover their entire patch of fur (as in a loop all the way around). This is the marking I came up with. It’s called “Splotched Rosette”. Snow-Lion Exclusive BaseLike the Tigon Exclusive base Mandarin, there would be a Snow-Lion Exclusive base for offspring as well. I imagine it would look like this. Physical ChangesAs for physical changes, a Snow-Lion would be fluffier than regular lions, with larger paws. Snow leopards use their paws to help stay atop the snow. Since lions don't need to do this, it wouldn't be absolutely necessary, however, I do think it's a rational idea, considering cats with big paws can be incredibly stealthy. I don’t have an idea for a pose other than standing, similar to the Tigon pose but with the tail going outwards instead of inwards (such as the image linked below). The Snow-Lion's tail would be thicker and fluffier. A snow leopards' tail is one of its key features. It rounds out at the end. This is probably the most important feature I'll be suggesting!!! Like Tigons, the Snow-Lion would have a bit of neck fluff. In my mind, I see it being a lot like the "Mane Imperial" mutation female lions can have, except they have more cheek fluff added to them, like the snow leopard in this photo. |

Thread looks put together wonderfully! Leopards already exist, (Leopon). Snow leopards are just the sub species of that. Why not just have a silver base, mottled rosette, and a fluffy mane mutation and call it a snow leopard. Why create an entire new lineart, files, put decor on everything, for something we pretty much already have? Why not go for... hyena lion, or monkey lion, etc? Something far from what we have. I hope this makes sense. I'm neutral. I love snow leopards too but it's just so similar to what we already have, as it's basically a fluffy leopard. Why not just have a fluffy leopon mutation? Not going to support, not going to not-support, just my ideas. :) 1 player likes this post! Like? Edited on 12/12/19 @ 15:16:01 by 73/94 left. Check my den UwU (#119458) |

Thank you for the feedback, it is appreciated! I had thought of that but really wanted a more specific mutation for the idea! 0 players like this post! Like? |

Sorry, no support. Snow leopards would have no chance of surviving in africa, even during winter months. Even if they could, a 15% chance is way too high as well. The winter month restrictions would either make it way too hard to breed, or way too easy. A new base and marking would be cute though. 0 players like this post! Like? |

I'm going to add onto what I said- Snow leopard, black panther, amur leopard, african leopard, etc. They're all the same. Now what's interesting about the snow leopard- super cute looks fluffy and adorable. I just think logically speaking- it wouldn't fit into the gameplay other than being super adorable and non-realistic. If we have too many non-realistic things then it becomes a fantasy lion sim vs lion sim. I know you put alot of effort into this and it's a nice idea but I don't know how it would work <3 but we'll see! 0 players like this post! Like? |

I love the concept and you were really dedicated to the idea. Unfortunately it is just too unrealistic, even for Lioden. Snow leopards are most likely too removed from the lion family tree that it would be impossible to breed. There would also have to be very specific lore, such as Ashkran. Askrhan? Askran? I don't know how to spell. So no support. Though, I do support snow leopard marks as a possible marking to be introduced. 0 players like this post! Like? |

Since the Snow Leopard belongs into the genus of the Panthera, just like lions, Tigers and Jaguars it could be possible for them to breed. Also Snow Leopards are a sister taxa to Tigers (so they are not a subspecies of regular Leopards), and we already have evidence of tigers and lions producing offspring. For the Temperature: In 2018 this Study got published: Assessment of habitat suitability of the snow leopard (Panthera uncia) in Qomolangma National Nature Reserve based on MaxEnt modeling They collected Datas from Snow leopards in Tibet. According to Figure 2, they found alot of Snow Leopard Poop in the Jilong County during 2014-2017. The Temperatures in Summer can reach up to 32°C/89,6°F there. Also, I live in germany and I know here are a few Zoos that have Snow Leopards, in Summer we often get the same Temperatures. The Tigon-Daddy Ashkarn has the Siberian Tiger Decor as official art, and these Tigers live in Temeratures from -40°C up to +40°C. I'm sure Snow Leopards wouldn't have that much fun in the heat of Africa, but I doubt it would be impossible for them to survive. Also, Africa has Mountains with snow. Seems like a perfect spot for Snow Leopards that escaped a Circus or a Zoo. TL;DR We can't tell if Snow Leopards and Lions can produce offspring, but in theorie it could be possible. But - do we really have wait until someone in the real world does something unethical and tries that, so we have confirmation? Support from me. 1 player likes this post! Like? Support from me, my line of thinking rather mirrors Admiral's. There's even been tri-brids born from hybridization, so I don't see any issue with your suggestion on a simple hybrid. I absolutely love your base and marking idea, amazing job! <3 1 player likes this post! Like? |
