So I don't breed for rosettes and never really looked into them much. Today I got a cub with a random rosette marking, and as someone who never bothered learning about rosette passage, needless to say I was a bit confused.

After looking into it a bit, it's very interesting that there is apparently some method to the madness according to the Lioden wiki, and I'm trying to learn what some of the theories are because I might have my own.

I got this boy today, who was born with Inverted Heavy Rosette Gold in Slot 4. Now, both mom and dad have markings in Slot 4 as well, but my gut feeling is that those can't be the cause. Mom has a White Blaze at 98% and Dad has Brimstone Undersides at 100%, while the cub's rosette is 79%. Now rosette's, once rolled, could come at a completely random opacity (again, I'm just now looking into the craziness of this marking) but hear me out.

Mom and Dad also both have markings in Slot 1. Dad has Ivory Lace at 100% opacity and Mom has Under Golden 6 at 72% opacity. The cub's Inverted Heavy Rosette Gold marking is between these two figures. (Though, again, maybe I'm just seeing a connection where there really is none.)

I've only been doing a little digging through rosette theories so far, but I've found some others who have individually brought up theories about the effect of lace and under markings, and I think I like that theory. The lace marking DOES look like it forms spots on/around the lower belly, legs and tail. The golden under marking from Mom in this case could have lent itself to the coloration of the rosette. I don't think I've had a lioness with Under markings to breed to my male before, so it would make sense this is the first time I managed to roll a rosette.

What do you guys think? Are there any other possible connections I'm missing? What are your rosette theories? I'm suddenly starting to understand the rosette craze now, lol, and I really wanna learn more!
