Now, you were probably a little put off the second you read the title, but hear me out.

Why would this be useful in the first place? Now, you wouldn't likely use this very often, but there is one item that would benefit from this sort of item: Crunchy worm The Crunchy worm item, as many of you know, gives a female a 25% chance to pass on her entire looks to a cub in her litter. This can be very useful for producing some gorgeous muties when used along with a mutation item, mutated father, or on a lioness with a genetic mutation herself; but many times, we find that the mutie wasn't the one who got the mom's looks, rather their non-mutated sibling. Of course, there may be one cub in the litter naturally, but wouldn't it be helpful to guarantee that if a clone is produced, it's the mutie?

As of 2024: Jaglion boost, special bases... COMBO special bases.... enough said?

Balancing things out. This idea raises a bit of issue in special mutie markets. After all, special based muties with several rosettes and other beautiful markings are supposed to be very rare and difficult to get. When it comes to the Dorsal fur boost and Mukombero, this would essentially guarantee that if a clone was born, it would have that mutation. It's important to remember that the Crunchy worm has a 25% chance to trigger, though this still leaves a 1/4 chance for essentially slapping a fancy and high-valued mutation onto the prettiest lioness possible. I definitely don't want Crunchies to get nerfed for this, so let's look at some less detrimental solutions.

1. Isolation, competition, and cost. Let's take a look at Yohimbe bark. It's a powerful item that (in high enough quantities) can turn a lioness into an unlimited cub machine, but it's only available in one event (and the Gorilla enclave, but at a very steep price) per year, and has arguably the highest competition rates by belonging to February. I propose we take a similar route with this new item. To avoid making it too easy to pump out gorgeous muties, it should be far from major breeding item events, find competition with other high-valued event items, and come at a high cost when in comparison with currency drop rates.

With isolation in mind, we'll want be sure to avoid February and October. While they provide good competition, they're also home to breeding items that would make the resulting cubs of this '1 cub item' too prevalent. To be sure to have significant isolation, this item should be sold in one event, with at least a two month buffer from either October or February. It would also be wise to not sell it in May (Lion scrotes). This leaves 2 months: June and July. Now, June is the less favorable of the two due to both competition and an influx of Lion scrotums from May. With the June bases being so expensive and each shop containing only 2 apps, and the month being mainly focused on backgrounds/decors, this item would no doubt be a large focal point. So why July? Tefnut's temple. Meteorite shards have a pretty high drop rate, so this item should come at a steep cost; but looking at the temple as of now, it will be in competition with three mane apps, two base apps, and one marking app. Lore-wise, it could be an item that Apendemak uses for his own projects when he wants all those whispers to line up on the one perfect cub.

2. With the pro, comes the con. (This one depends on whether the cubs' mutations roll before the Crunchy) Now, it's a given that this specific balance wouldn't work with things like the Dorsal boost or Mukombero, but for mutations that are either genetic or rely on a Lion scrote, this item would give a sort of ultimatum. Using it would increase the chances of essentially slapping a random or father's mutation on the mother's design, or copying the beautiful mutie you already have; but because genetic mutations, Lion scrotums, and mutation items work per cub, using this new item for that litter would come at the cost of greatly decreasing the chances for muties overall.

(Possibly) 3. Maybe we change "guarantee" to RNG. If a guarantee is too much even with these other limitations, the item could be altered to simply increase the likelihood of a one cub litter rather than guaranteeing it. It would of course limit the item's functionality in its purpose, but with that con, comes the pro of giving a small boost to the market's health when many users have the same idea.

Possible changes Keep in mind that the limitations are just possibilities. This suggestion is mainly focused on the introduction of the item itself. Whatever limitations are put in place will ultimately be up to the community and admins, if this gets implemented at all.

TL;DR An item that guarantees, or increases the odds of a 1 cub litter. This would greatly help those with projects that involve the use of Crunchy worms, and with the right limitations, would do limited harm to the markets.

Now, of course we'll have to come up with what the item will be. If it is to be put in July, it should fit the general space/celestial theme. If not, well, let's hear some ideas!

Possible names/art
Space/Celestial debris (fragments or large broken pieces of man-made material in space)
Celestial rock
Asteroid piece (specifically not 'meteorite' to avoid confusion with the gem)

Possible flavor texts
"Your lion spends some time playing with the strange and smelly toy. After a while, they start to feel odd. Looks like (foreign elements/spatial radiation) in the toy has affected their body after such close and prolonged exposure. Hehe, it makes their insides tickle a little!

This is an interesting idea! At first glance I thought it was kind of useless, but after reading your explanation I think it could be useful! Supported!

Thank you! I hope the No supports aren't accumulating because others are judging before reading.

Hm... I'm kind of dumb (and new), so it might just be I don't understand how the mutie/clone items roll, but if you used the one-cub item, wouldn't the items only roll once? So if you had a two-cub litter and one was a mutie and the other a clone versus a one-cub litter where you had used the item, the second scenario doesn't increase the odds of having a mutie clone, since it rolls for each cub independently (I think?).

I am making some assumptions about how breeding items work but what I am trying to get at is I think you still have the same odds of any particular cub being a mutie, clone, or both regardless of how many cubs are in that litter. You are only changing how many times the items roll.

I noticed you mentioned Dorsal boosts and Mukombero which guarantee one of that mutie in the next litter. If you only mean those mutation items and not something like CRB or lion scrots, I think I just misinterpreted. Also, if the Crunchy Worm rolls for the litter, then picks a cub to duplicate it on, I also misinterpreted, as then it wouldn't increase the odds of a clone with a larger litter.

And, of course, no hate, I think it's a very creative suggestion. Just trying to be a little less confused.

@Moon That's why I mentioned #2 in the limitations as a possibility. As I am unsure of the order of mutation vs. Crunchy worm, litters under the effect of mutie items that don't guarantee a mutie are a possible thing to benefit from this. If I'm correct with the probabilty, should the Crunchy trigger, then choose a cub at random to put the looks onto, then it'll increase the odds of the clone having a mutation (not a mutation being a clone). The Lion scrote gives a 25% chance for each cub to have a mutation, and the Crunchy gives a 25% chance for A cub to be a clone, so at the cost of less potential muties, ensuring that there's just one cub in the litter, you'd increase your odds of your potential clone being a mutie rather than leaving it to chance that the Crunchy puts the mother's looks on the cub that hit the mutation number in the roll.

Just to clarify for jags! This item wouldn’t really be useful as the cub rolls on the first cub Regardless on if the lion has 4 cubs or 1. And items cannot be piled up with the boost so it doesn’t that way either!

@Zuri It's intended to be paired with a Crunchy worm, thus increasing the odds of the mutie being a clone of the mother by eliminating the possibility that Cub #1 is the mutie and Cub #2 is the clone.

(Since Jaglions were mentioned:)

The crunchy clone mutie would only get the mother's base & mane color if the Crunchy succeeds on the First Gen Jaglion:
first gen have forced mane type (Scarce), skin type (Matte), & Eye color (Intense Heat) while being reduced to only 1 marking (Phantom Rosette in slot 2, 4, or 7)...
so even if trying to pair these items down the line it would really only be helpful to produce a guaranteed-Mother's base Jaglion?

If that's the intention then good luck with the 1-cub base forcing! <3

I see, might be worth mentioning that beside the jag part. Many users skim suggestions, so just to keep everything clear

@Sirah
Yes, that's what I meant for the Jags. It'd be an excellent way to introduce special bases into the Jag population without being a gurantee (market crasher).

Oo very cool, I was mostly thinking of out of season costs but this could be fun if anyone has boosts saved up still in October.

Good luck with the theory! <3

This could be a great addition to the february shops imo! Another name suggestion I can think of is Hyena Scrotum (Since hyena meat lowers fert and Buffalo Scrotum ties to litter size?)
