ee okay so im finally asking because i need to produce art faster to support myself haha. so i know this is possible because xy does it with the base templates to make bases and i've seen it in countless art tutorials, but i have no idea how to make it so that when i color in photoshop, i can select the lines so i can't color outside of them. i tried using the selection tool but it made it so that i can only color the lines of the lineart itself? lol im very new to photoshop and have put off learning this for the longest time (i've been erasing outside of my lineart) so i would really, really appreciate help, or even a link to a tutorial i could watch, as the tutorial i followed resulted in me just coloring the lines themselves haha ^^' 0 players like this post! When using the selection tool you have to check "sample all layers" in the top bar. 0 players like this post! Like? |

i do it by putting a new layer on top of the lineart layer, then putting a "clipping mask" on it so it only affects the lineart (bottom) layer. then i can color however i want on it. it works on any program, i use clip studio paint but i know it also works on photoshop because i used it for many years :) heres more or less how it looks like on CSP 0 players like this post! With photoshop just click alt and click in between the layers to create a clipping mask 0 players like this post! Like? |
