i'm NOT an expert on digital art, by i'm thinking you could maybe emphasise the different tufts of fur? (like, with lines or shading or something)
it's amazing already, i love the facial features, but that's just what i feel it's needing!

i think i know what is bothering you!
since i dont know where specifically it bothers you, i went ahead and meddled around on what i thought was the issue (hope you dont mind, i am just bored and thought i could help).

first, your values are too close to each other. this makes the image seem "flat" or "greyish" and because of that you've got into a little bit of trouble at defining the forms.

i put a black and white gradient map to check values. this is the image without changing anything


then i grabbed the handles and fixed the value to something that stood the lion more to me (this is quite subjective, you may like it another way)


i put the gradient map layer as "brightness" to apply the values to the image.


i noticed these are the areas with less definition


i painted over with a brush and defined a little more. i think it made some difference, what do you think?


painting fur is very difficult to learn, dont be discouraged and please keep painting. you are in the right track!
